Pretty insane sleep tracker. It knows alot.

The Withings Sleep Tracking mat is pretty crazy with how much it tracks. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, but once I used it, it made me want to put effort into getting a better night sleep. Ever hear people who say a health tracking watch makes them want to workout and stay healthy? The same applies for this.
Background, I am a middle aged man who according to my wife snores loudly when I sleep. I figured the Sleep Tracking mat would be interesting to see what causes me to snore and how much it happens, as well as several other factors.
The mat tracks the duration of your sleep, the depth (deep, rem and light), the regularity, interruptions (did you get up to use the bathroom or for anything else?), the time it takes for you to go to sleep, the time it takes for you to get up, breathing disturbances, heart rate and time spent snoring. It knows when you're awake and when you fall asleep.
If you're paying attention you can see that's alot of info that is tracked from a small mat that you put under your mattress. How does it work? I don't know, maybe magic? I would guess the snoring part would be done by recording sounds in your bedroom which is weird but I'm pretty sure you can turn that part off.
So what did I find? Lots of things but mainly I don't get to bed early enough and I don't snore as much as my wife says I do (although she's argued that the mat probably isn't working right lol).
This thing works so well that me and my kid were laying on the bed last week and I dozed off while the kiddo was playing on my ipad. It tracked that as a nap (since I guess it was in the afternoon) and since we laid there for about 30 minutes it knew I was awake for 28 minutes and it knew I dozed off for 2 minutes. Mind blown.
All in all I have found myself wanting to increase my overall score. My main problem is I get to bed too late so I don't get enough sleep. This device has me trying to get to bed earlier so I can bump my score up. It's also really interesting seeing all the stats, especially the heart rate and snoring.

Very good for the money.

This soundbar and accompanying sub sounds really good and provide clarity and bass that my old soundbar didn't or couldn't offer.
To start off the soundbar has some weight to it and a quality feel. I wall mounted it below my mounted TV because I have a little one who loves to pull things off of tables. The enclosed wall mount seems pretty stable and substantial compared to my previous soundbar. It has two L shaped brackets that mount to the wall and then screw into the bottom of the soundbar. Since I was mounting it by myself, the enclosed paper that indicates spacing from TV and spacing for brackets was helpful. Even though It took quite a while for me to center it, this made leveling it super easy.
Connections for the soundbar are your usual suspects in optical digital and HDMI ARC. I connected with the included optical cable (There is no HDMI cable included) You can also stream bluetooth and use a USB for this soundbar. The remote controls both the soundbar and subwoofer, including the center speaker (it has one built in) and the optional rear speakers.
My preferred setting for this soundbar is the DTS Virtual X. The quality is crystal clear and the subwoofer enhances the entire experience. I tried some of the other settings but they just seemed too empty to me.
The only issue I had with this system is that my past setup had the subwoofer set up under an endtable that is located about 4 feet to the right of the TV. Never had a connection issue ever with my previous soundbar. While trying out the SL6Y I noticed the sub kept cutting out. I did the typical unplug/plug back in and reconnected the sub but still had issues with the sub dropping out. The sub provides a lot of depth in this system so when it drops out, you really notice it. I contacted LG about the issue and the suggestion was to power off/on the soundbar which I had done and move it to a different location, which I didn't want to do but did anyway. After moving the sub, I haven't heard it cut out yet. I moved it to the left of the TV this time and in the corner of the room, which to my surprise made the sub even louder and provided more depth. My wife now thinks its waaaay too much bass but I think it sounds great. The only thing I can think of is that there is a printer that would have been another 3 feet away from the previous setup that might have caused interference? Seems kind of silly and as I said, never happened with my previous setup but moving did seem to work. It's been several days since moving it and all seems fine but I'll still be listening to make sure that's what the problem is.
Overall the system sounds deep in bass and crisp in highs. Just what i'm looking for in an affordable sound bar. I don't like the fact that I had to move it to prevent interference, but it seems to have worked. If you're not looking to break the bank on a soundbar but want to step it up from 2.1 with the option of adding rear speakers in the future, check out this system in DTS Virtual X mode at Best Buy and see if its right for you. I'm a fan.

Good with a few issues.

I had been hoping to get a doorbell video system for quite a while. I currently have several cams (from the largest online retailer that begins with A and ends with N) set up on a few areas. This doorbell cam will be used as a supplementary method of keeping an eye on my place that runs on a different network setup.
Install was pretty straight forward. There are plenty of write ups and videos on how to do this online to I won't go into it here. If I can do it you probably can too. Super easy.
Using the doorbell for the past few days it has worked well but sometimes been hit or miss. If I'm away from home and using my work wifi like I usually do it takes around 20 seconds for me to connect to the doorbell. Twice I connected to a complete black screen, yet I can hear the microphone. However, when I re-watched the encounter I was able to see everything and hear everything. Kind of strange but I will tweak my network and settings of the skybell to try and get that fixed since I'm normally on wifi while at work 8 hours a day. If however, I am on a good strong mobile signal it takes around 15 seconds to access the doorbell live vid and everything came in perfectly.
There have been several times in the past few days where I have tried to access the live view of my porch and I received the error message that "Stream cannot be established." Normally if I closeout and re-open the live view, it works flawlessly but sometimes it takes a few tries. I would think that if time was of the essence this would be an important feature to have working flawlessly at all times.
Pros-
Camera quality is good.
Mic speaker quality is good on both ends.
Easy to install and connect to network.
Motion detection set to low works well for me with no false positives.
LED customization.
Easy to use app.
Cons-
Trouble connecting to live view causing me to stop and try to connect again to remove error message.
Black screen when trying to access the live view.
Plastic housing looks/feels cheap and logo is large and eye catching.
-Presentation- The outer presentation of the doorbell itself I personally think looks kind of cheap. I don't think there was a reason to have SKYBELL on the doorbell part of the device. It kind of looks gaudy. I think a minimalist approach would be better but it looks like that's how Skybell brands their products, but sometimes less is more. I'm not a big fan of the plastic design and feel they could have went with aluminum for both the bracket and the doorbell, but those are just my opinions. Maybe this is to provide a more affordable product. Ability to change LED colors is neat.
-Camera quality- This looks great in my opinion everything from 720p up looks great. It is a fisheye effect so you can get a wider angle of view. I personally like that for my front porch but others may not. Even at night the quality is good which is reassuring to know.
-Audio quality- Sounds good on both ends, my phone and the doorbell. Communication is fast and easy to understand on both ends.
-Notifications- You can choose to notify in 2 ways. Motion sensor and by someone pressing the doorbell. You get a "ding dong" notification on your phone or tablet so you can definitely tell the difference in between other notifications and the skybell. My skybell faces the road of my culdesac and it is not triggered by any cars driving by. The motion sensor set to low does a great job and picking up when someone is walking towards my house and on to the porch. I appreciate this since my other branded cameras have 10 settings and I'm constantly trying to find the right setting to not trigger the notifications when the wind blows or a bee hovers near the camera.
You can also choose to turn off your doorbell inside your house which parents with a napping baby may appreciate.
All in all this is actually a good and useful doorbell if they can just get the kinks worked out on the live view errors and the blank video stream (which may be on my end, I will find out). If skybell could fix the connection issues I could look past the other cons. It does seem like another good tool to keep watch over your house while you're away.

Another year for Vizio televisions.
on May 28, 2019
Posted by: charliehustle77
from Virginia
This is another great TV offered by Vizio that offers high end tech and . I have a 2018 Vizio P-Series that I love and is going strong and this new 2019 version of the Quantum P-Series does not disappoint either.
Out of the box Vizio takes into account the size of the TV. I know it's hard, but follow the instructions on the box. They make the box so that the top opens, you remove the remote, manual, cord and stands. Then you slide the box right off of the base. This reveals the tv which is wrapped in a bag with handles and the screen is protected with a cardboard/padded piece. I left that on until I had the tv on the wall. The TV looks pretty epic, with very little bezel and a thin design. All the inputs are on one side of the tv and vizio made that area sunk into the tv a little more than the rest making cable management a little easier. The power cord is on the other side. The stands are very wide on the tv. Make sure if you're not mounting it, that you have a wide base/stand to put it on. The only head scratcher is the clear adhesive protector Vizio used to go around the bezel. When I removed it, it left adhesive stuck to the bezel? What in the world. This didn’t happen with my P-series last year, strange that it happened this year. I tried peeling slower, I tried peeling faster, still the same. I will have to use some alcohol swabs to lightly run down the sides of the TV to get it off. Not something you want to have to do to a brand new TV.
That one negative being said, there’s not much bad to say about this tv. After turning it on you’ll see how bright and colorful this TV really is. Vizio has done a great job with their “Calibrated” and “Dark Calibrated” settings. I use Calibrated and tweak a few small things but for the most part, it’s spot on. Watching 4k content on Netflix just doesn’t seem like you’re watching on a LED screen. The blacks are so black it seems like an old school plasma and the color is rich and deep. I watched the movie Triple Frontier and the quality of the movie on this tv had my jaw dropping. If you get the settings just right, the black screen while on, will barely show up in an all black room. Watching sports like hockey and basketball they look great with no pixilation and vivd colors. Playing games on PS4 I notice no lag. This TV is going to make me go buy a ps4 pro it looks so good. The quantum dot technology seems pretty amazing and the HDR10 and Dolby Vision look spectacular when available.
The remote is the same as last year with there being a direct button for Netflix, Amazon video, iHeart and a few other services that I probably won’t use. Would be cool to see a few options for apps that you can program in there, but I’m sure there is a contract and money involved for those apps to be on the remote. Still waiting for that backlit remote, makes me appreciate my xfinity cable remote that lights up when I touch it, so much more. As of now, there is no youtube app on the app screen. That is different from last year but not a game changer for me to be honest since you can still stream directly from your phone when using youtube. Just weird they didn’t add it. With the chromecast option, you can stream a ton of apps to your tv. Watching sports like hockey and basketball they look great with no pixilation. Playing games on PS4 I notice no lag. The tv supports google assistant and alexa and is supposed to soon support apple homekit.
Couple of cool things to note. The watchfree or plutotv option that vizio offers is actually really cool. It wouldn’t make me go out and cancel my cable and I laughed at it the first time I saw it, but I have found myself watching it for quite a while and forgetting that I wasn’t watching the cable I pay for. If you have cut the cord, this is a great option for you. Another cool thing that I just really started playing with is the vizio app. It makes it way easier to change picture settings on the fly without using the remote. You pull up the settings you want to change and you just use your finger to slide the bar over till you get what you want. Really convenient option that I just found.
I know some people have their mind set on Vizio not being up there with the big names like Sony and Samsung but I’ve got to say, Vizio is turning a lot of heads with the specs and picture quality on these new TV’s. I’m sold on it and since last year I’ve been recommending others who are in the market, to take a look at what Vizio is offering and to give them a shot. Don’t believe me? Go check it out for yourself!

Ok for console, Good to go for PC
on January 23, 2019

I've used these both on PC gaming and PS4. Using them for gaming on PC you can take advantage of all the cool features these have to offer like 7.1 surround, THX, audio customization etc. Really cool and I found no major issues in using them on PC to be honest. Very cool headset for PC use.
I however, don't game on the PC as much as my PS4 these days.
Using them for the PS4 you only plug them into your controller via 3.5 jack. There's no way to plug the usb into your console and take advantage of any added features. Don't get me wrong,I think the sound is still decent thru console even with the issues below, but if that's your preferred method of gaming you may want to look at something else.
The issues I faced when using them for PS4 is:
-Sound cutting in and out periodically. (A few times per hour)
-The volume is not high enough even when its at its highest.
-The volume control is easily moved up and down accidentally by rubbing on your shirt or clothing causing me to pause and fix it. This is the most annoying to me.
As far as fit I found these to be a very comfortable fit, even for long gaming sessions and a very nice looking headset but at times I wish they were a little tighter on my head as the sound feels far away and not loud enough at times gaming on PS4.
Depending on which way you are going to use the headset (console vs PC) this might sway you one way or another on whether or not to buy these. Since all my friends game on PS4 I wouldn't recommend these to them, if we all gamed on PC I likely would.

Some good, some bad.
on January 9, 2019

Pros:
Relatively easy to install front camera.
Front camera has good 1080p quality.
Sound quality is good to go.
Wire hiding tool is helpful when installing the wires.
Cons:
Rear camera quality is not good.
Wire that attaches to the rear cam is not removable..weird.
My fuse box is in the hood (Ram 1500) so hard wiring will be more difficult.
I will start off by saying the idea is good and I knew the features of this model when I got it. I understand that there is more cost and a little more memory needed with both cameras at high res but it might be worth it to look at the V1P Pro Front and Rear Cam.
I wired up the camera in the front and was pleased although It was just plugged into my cigarette lighter plug. As mentioned earlier, my fuse box is located under my hood so I will have to figure out a way to run it there, or pay best buy to install. Too cold to hard wire it myself right now. I hooked up the rear camera, when doing this I didn't run the wire under the carpet or hide it since I just wanted to test it out. There is a noticeable difference in the quality in the front and rear cameras, especially at night. Maybe I'm just spoiled by HD quality video? I assume this is because they think what goes on in front of you is more important or can add to the rear footage if you're involved in an accident?
All wires seem long enough for a large vehicle. Using the camera is pretty easy once you get the memory card put in. No issues there.
Overall it's not terrible. I guess if you're not too overly concerned with the quality of your rear camera then this might be a good purchase for you. If not, maybe look into the rexing V1P Pro front and rear cam, that offers GPS, WIFI and dual HD cameras for $50 more. You'd have to decide if it's worth it to you. I would rate it at a 3.5 if that was an option.

Stylish and high performance.

I’ve owned quite a few laptops in my day never a 2 in 1. Never really had any interest in them but this one? I love this Dell.
I’ll start with when you pull it out of the box, this doesn’t feel like your run of the mill Dell (sorry dell). Sheweee! She’s pretty. The Dell has some weight to it, not too much, but at .7lbs it’s just enough to where it doesn’t feel like a flimsy cheapo laptop. It’s got actual really nice brushed aluminum on the outside, not aluminum look plastic like my old inspiron. The hinges feel substantial and strong, they feel like they’ll support the flipping back and forth you’ll be doing with the Dell. You’ve got your HDMI, USB-C, 2 standard USB, headphone/mic and an SD card ports on the sides. Various levels of backlighting on the keyboard is nice, not just on and off. It’s got a fingerprint scanner and I had to look to find the webcam because of the way it’s built into the screen. The speakers are decent for a .70” laptop. The screen, while being 1080p looks gorgeous. Very crisp and responsive to the touch with just the right amount of bezel. Playing games on the touchscreen in tablet mode feels great.
The internals of the dell has some gems. 8gb ram, solid state drive and 8th gen I7 quad core processor make this machine very quick for normal everyday usage. I haven’t loaded anything crazy big on this laptop as of yet, but out of the box it’s probably the fastest computer I have.
I really, really like this laptop. It looks cool, it runs great, it’s fast and it’s a 2 in 1. I would have never thought I would enjoy a 2 in 1 touch screen laptop this size, as much as I do. This one Is definitely a-go. Great job Dell!

New to photoshop? This is for you.
on November 13, 2018

This is a review made by someone who has not used previous versions of Elements so I cannot compare this version with last years version. I am reviewing this purely as a photo and image editing software.
Years ago I had a job that allowed me to purchase the full suite adobe photoshop for personal and professional use for significantly less than the normal purchase price. I had a little bit of PS experience from being taught by friends, youtube and myself. I'll be honest and I'm not ashamed to admit it, it was a bit over my head and without formal training and lots of time spent on it, I don't know how much of the full suite I would really grasp. I eventually stopped using it as it was just too time consuming to do in depth PS tricks beyond basic editing.
Then I received this Elements 2019. I had no idea this was even a thing before this. I thought everyone still had to use the full PS suite and pay the high cost, which I think is now a monthly access fee.
This makes using photoshop easy for even a novice. There are 3 options to use, Quick, Guided and Expert. Quick mode is great if you just want to quickly fix a few things in the image. Guided has lots of templates from borders to meme creation to collage, or my favorite, multi photo text where you can type a word and then fill each image with a photo. Guided mode is where I spend most of my time. Expert mode seems a little more close to the traditional PS though with slightly fewer features. You can also start in one mode and finish your project with any other mode. So start in Expert mode and finish in Guided mode. Really cool.
I can't wait to delve a little more into Elements and see what else it can do.
If you previously used a full PS suite and felt it was just a little more than you bargained for like me or just want to get your foot in the door with the newest and most updated version of Elements at a great price, then this is worth it to check out and see how you can quickly get the most out of your images.

Good home/small office printer
on November 6, 2018
Posted by: charliehustle77
from Virginia
Unboxing this printer I noticed this isn't just some small little printer that will fall apart in a couple years. This thing feels like it weighs about 40-45lbs. We had our older, smaller HP inkjet on a flimsy fold out table used to eat in the living room. Needless to say the Brother needed a beefier table to sit on. Not a small printer by my standards.
After taking all the packing tape and ink cartridge guards off I plugged it in and it fired up and asked for my WiFi password. Within a few minutes I was printing from my iphone. There are also options on the color touchscreen where you can print from online doc storage areas like Dropbox, Google Drive and Onenote. There's also a NFC option which I haven't tried yet.
The printer will crank out 25 sheets per minute and the tray will hold around 250 letter sized sheets. If you want to run envelopes you have to load them into the bypass tray one at a time. So if envelopes are going to be a big part of your printing operation, you may look elsewhere for a printer that works better for you. I printed out a few color photos on regular 20lb paper and they came out ok. Would probably look better on a heavier stock or a glossy stock. I'll probably try that later. From the looks of the 20lb images I printed, this doesn't seem like a printer that you want to print artwork out with, more of a text and image type printer. I work in the print industry and didn't buy it for that reason but I had to at least test it out. My wife will be using this quite frequently for finishing school. So far it's been very reliable and easy for her to use and perfect for what we needed it for. I'm hoping these starter ink cartridges last a while as they cost anywhere from $60-$80 each. Good printer for a smaller operation, I recommend it if you're looking to step up from a crappy inkjet but don't want to break the bank.

Have you ever wanted a pressure cooker a slow cooker, a steamer and an air fryer but thought...Where am I going to put all those things? I did.
The Ninja Foodi eliminates the need for all of those devices and combines them all into one. This machine pretty much does it all. I've cooked a few dishes in it and found that it does an amazing job. The first dish I made, chicken and rice I got off of a youtube channel and it came out amazing. The second dish, chicken brocolli rice, I got out of the cookbook that is included with the foodi. It came out ok but the rice was waaay too salty for me after adding all the ingredients. The third dish wasn't really a dish, I just wanted some crispy french fries. I used the crsiping basket and threw some garlic salt on them and they came out great! I will try a few more recipes from the book but may eliminate some of the salt where I see fit.
I had never owned a pressure cooker or an air fryer before this one and I am really happy with it. Having dinner with the quickness after working all day is amazing. Having the ability to remove the pressure cooker lid and pop down the fryer lid to crisp is all up is the bees knees.
The bowl inside as well as the crisping basket is made of coated ceramic so it's extremely easy to clean with just a rag. The inside of the fryer lid can easily be wiped off and I feel like that is probably coated as well. The rack included is reversible so you can place items up high to fry or down lower. The buttons are easy to understand and if there are any questions the manual is helpful although I got alot of info from youtubers who were unboxing it.
The only downsides I can think about are just personal preferences and may vary from person to person.
1. It's a pretty large machine. It's pretty heavy and bigger than my slow cooker and takes up much more counter space. The way my cabinets are aligned, when releasing pressure the steam hits the bottom part of my cabinets. I'm sure that will eventually have an effect on the cabinet finish. The good thing is, even with it's large size it fits in my spinning cabinet (lazy susan thingy) with enough room for it to spin.
2. The lid for the fryer is hinged and remains connected with the foodi at all times while the pressure lid is removable but not dishwasher safe. Not a huge deal, but it kind of goes back into the whole space thing. You need to have enough space to hinge that fryer lid up to get into it.
These two things aren't deal breakers for most people but some people may want to see it in person before purchasing in order to size it up and lift it. I feel like the pictures make it look smaller than it is.
The foodi just may be the coolest thing in my kitchen right now and I can't wait to try new recipes! If you're looking for a versatile cooker that can do many things well, this will be a good buy for you.

hi, the M575 has only been available on Logitech's site in graphite and off-white colors. Guess best buy is having it now... is this "black" color really black? or is it the same graphite-gray that logitech sells on their site?

The part number on the black M575 from Best Buy does not match the part number for the graphite version from Logitech. I would guess they are not the same.

How comfortable are they? Do they feel like they're going to fall out with rigorous exercise (running) or do they have a secure fit a majority of the time?

These fell out of my ears while I was doing nothing. They don't feel secure. The sound on these are great but working out and exercising with these on will probably not be a good idea.
