travel a lot and have been using a travel connection portfolio to charge my USB devices when traveling overseas and having to bring along a power strip.
But I need something that provides adequate power, and the Native Union SMART HUB is what I've been looking for.
The HUB comes with three USB ports, one USB-C port, and two AC outlets. The USB ports operated at 5.4A max, up to 3A per port and worked perfectly when I need to power my laptop, charge my iPad and Android device and my pocket wifi. Also, charging my cameras and USB battery charger, so for the most part, I love this device.
And according to Native Union, the Native Union SMART HUB comes with Over-current protection (OCP), over-voltage protection (OVP), and short-circuit protection (SCP) ensures complete protection for you and your device

I don't do reviews often, but I want to help my geek friends save days of research and frustration that I went through to finally get the absolute most speed out of my Gigabit internet. There are some golden nuggets here that you need to know.
When I first upgraded to the new gigabit here in Denver (from Xfinity), it was using their new Cable Modem/Router device (XB6-A), and I was only getting 500 Mbps download speed. It was also lagging in our house when several people were gaming, and others were downloading, or even accessing intensive web-pages. (lagging = pings were going up).
Since upgrading to this Netgear CM1000, upgrading my cabling, and factory resetting my router, I'm now getting the most download throughput (~941 Mbps) and the lowest pings I've EVER seen! The connection is rock solid throughout the house.
SHORT ANSWER: Get this Netgear CM, upgrade your ethernet cables to Cat 6 (or Cat 5E for short distances) and then Factory Reset your router to get the most speed. You still may need a new router to reach gigabit speeds. I'm getting the most download throughput (~941 Mbps) and the lowest pings I've EVER seen!
I did lots of tests comparing this cable modem to the XB6-A that Xfinity provided. Here are some big things I learned:
1) Make sure your ethernet cables going from the cable modem to the router and from the router to your PC are CAT6 or at least CAT5E (for short distances).
2) Upgrading to this Netgear CM1000 Cable Modem LOWERED my ping/latency compared to the XB6-A that Xfinity provided. I just got a 5 MS Ping to the google server here in Denver! UNHEARD OF. Most of the time it's around 8-9ms with this new cable modem. I was getting 11-14 w/ the Xfinity modem. If you're a gamer, a lower ping matters!
3) The Xfinity XB6-A modem/router combo doesn't work too well when you have your own router also connected to it. Xfinity recommends you only use their device and disconnect your router.
4) Around 941 Mbps is the max download speed that modern gigabit routers/switches can do right now so don't be worried if you can't get above that.
5) Many routers can't handle gigabit download speeds, especially if you've enabled any of the features like QoS, Traffic Meter, Keyword block, etc. My Netgear Nighthawk (R7000) was only getting 400-500 Mbps (using speedtest) because I had enabled some of these features. Even when I disabled these features, the speed was still low. Doing a FACTORY reset fixed it, and now I'm getting 937 - 943 Mbps download speed!!!
The reason these routers slow down when you enable extra features is that it disables CTF (cut through forwarding) and the router no longer uses it's faster processor. Some of the newer routers can still maintain max download speeds of 941 Mbps while also allowing you to use QoS and other features.
6) There's a great website called Small Net Builder that compared routers to see which could reach 941 Mbps download speed. I recommend you check that out if you need a new router.
Keep in mind that this Netgear CM1000 is JUST a cable modem. It's not a router. So if you only have one device you want to wire into it, you're fine, but if you're going to have more devices, and wireless, then you'll need a router too.
The Xfinity provided XB6-A is both a cable modem and a wireless router in one. I think it has some flaws that need to be worked out but appears to be a beefy piece of hardware. You can save yourself the $10/month rental by getting this Netgear CM1000.
P.S. I do plan to upgrade my router so that I can still get 941 Mbps download speed while enabling QoS. With QoS, it will set aside a portion of your bandwidth (say 20%) for high priority traffic like gaming that needs low latency, and then it will limit all other connections (like large downloads) to the other 80% the connection. Keep in mind; if you enable this and run a speed test, it will appear lower just because it's now reserving part of your bandwidth for other devices/traffic in your home.

The Apple TV 4K does everything you'd expect it to do -- what's surprising is how Apple is undercutting the competition in 4K pricing. In a world where people are buying fewer films, and the current best physical media format might not be sticking around for long, it serves an important role by making 4K and HDR films more accessible. It's just a shame that we still have to wait for Apple to score more licensing deals, get more third-party support and fix curious omissions, like its lack of Atmos support.

Great for Speed

Quadrupled my speed at home. There are four essential points I'd like to make:
1) All these years I paid for a 50mbps speed from my cable company. I had an older Netgear from 2009 which has served me well all these years (and still works), but I decided it was time to upgrade. Typically I was getting only 12-17mbps through my wi-fi (for example, to my iPhone6). After getting this Nighthawk Router, I now understand 57mbps on the same iPhone. All of my devices are much faster now... PS4, iPhones, iPads, Epson Printer, Baby Monitor, Tablets, Roku 3 box, Roku Streaming Stick, etc...
2) Cables .... Please note, one other thing I did in addition to getting this router is that I also bought all new cat6 wires (from Amazon Basics), and that has helped the router to connect well to the cable modem. From the router itself, I have a few wired items (Roku 3 box, PS4, my PC). And note that I tested the Roku 3 box, PS4, and PC wirelessly as well. In all conditions, wired with Cat6 cables and wi-fi, this Nighthawk router has delivered the speeds I was missing for years.
3) Interface.... Also, I like the interface for setting up and using the router. I love that you get two options of 2.4ghz or 5ghz connection. One thing to keep in mind is that some older devices can only use 2.4g, so it is that old device itself that limits the connection speed (not your wi-fi necessarily). Newer devices are 5g capable and can maximize the speed capability.
4) Security... I also like the "Access Control" feature so that you have to permit a device to connect to your wi-fi. For example, when I got a new iPad this Christmas, I logged into my wi-fi network and put in the proper password, but it wouldn't connect to the internet. Then I went to the Netgear interface on my PC, and it displayed that the iPad had been blocked (because Access Control is turned on). So then I simply hit a checkbox to "allow" the iPad onto my home network, and then it connected.
Finally, I am not a tech person; I just try to read up on things to the best of my ability. I hope my review helps some of you.

I received it promptly and was delivered in excellent condition. It is quite heavy, and it is best handled by two people. The installation was easy if you follow the installation guide carefully. I have an iMac computer, and the disc with the software is for a PC. The Canon USA website allows you to download the software for the MAC and the installation of the software was easy. Connecting to my network was as simple as it can get. It was all automatic. I was blown away by the print quality and found the speed of sending files and printing faster than my Brother laser printer had been.It is relatively quiet and straightforward to use. The scanning software is easy to use and the scanning accurate. I haven't tried to print envelopes as yet, but my Brother printer always wrinkled the corner of the containers. I downloaded the printer manually, and it is quite extensive, so I just keep it as a file.I did have to contact Canon Support regarding a warranty card as it was not included in the package (the warranty is three years) so they registered the printer with the phone call. One word of warning, when I googled Canon support, many sites have listed that sound like they are part of Canon. They want to charge for their service. Make sure you go to Canon USA site for downloads or help.

Having a tablet or a phone is inevitable in our life, and there is nothing we can do about it. Moreover, I know, there are toddlers over there who can read a book in a cart while grocery shopping or just curiously looking around. However, that is not our case. My nephew is three years old, and he is a lovely boy, but he hates grocery shopping, he gets bored very quickly and the only thing that helps, is his favorite cartoons.

From what I've played so far, it's impressive graphically & the controls are just excellent for basic moves, but I wouldn't be the one that you would ask to see if the players are realistically represented within the game. A worthwhile upgrade over the standard Bose SoundL

Being an owner of the Bose SoundLink 2 wireless headphones for close to a year now, I wanted to give my 1st impressions after picking this up from Best Buy a day ago. I've ALWAYS wanted Bose's active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones, but they only had the QC25 wired at the time, and I had to have a wireless headphone, so I picked up the SoundLink 2 (as I use my headphone to drown out the traffic-noise and noisy neighbors all around my apartment). I already have a Sony MDR-10RNC ANC headphone, but I'm tethered to wires, and their ANC isn't that great (I can still hear a majority of the traffic outside, and there's that signature noticeable hissing sound found in almost all ANC headphones I've tried). When I heard news of the QC35, I was super excited.
After using it to watch two horror movies with tons of bass, YouTube videos, and music; I'm confident to say I like this better than my SoundLink 2. I expected the sound to be the same, but the bass on the QC35 is "tighter" - as if I had my 300W Boston Acoustic subwoofer running on low-volume. The SoundLink's bass is pretty weak and flat. The high's and mid's are just as crisp, and I have no pairing issues like my SoundLink 2 (I gave the SoundLink 2 a not-so-favorable review because of the pairing issues). I was also surprised by the construction because it's not all plastic like the SoundLink 2 - surprised because I was expecting the $70 premium over the SoundLink 2 only adds ANC inside. The QC35 has metal (such as the ear-cup plate where the "Bose" logo sits on). The QC35 is only $70 more than the SoundLink 2, but you get much more than ANC - better materials, almost 2x battery life over SoundLink2, a full headband, better case, and ANC.
The ANC is really NICE because as I'm writing this at 3 PM Sunday sitting next to my windows (tons of traffic outside my apartment since I live next to a large mall) with the QC35 on my head without any sound playing through it, the traffic noise is almost non-existent - can only hear the occasional Harley Davidson that whizzes by. Is the $350 price-tag worth it? It depends. In my situation, a definite YES because it feels fantastic to be able to relax in my apartment on a lazy Sunday without my eardrums being bombarded by traffic noise and the noisy neighbors. I'm also not destroying my eardrums or getting music-fatigue by playing my music loud or watching Youtube for hours on end to drown out the outside noise - so the long-term health benefits of my hearing are priceless.
Lastly, a reviewer mentioned that the QC35 weighs ~60% more than the SoundLink2 wireless - which may make some people hesitate on the purchase if they're keen on comfort. Either he doesn't know basic math, his scale is messed up, or he is just purely throwing out random numbers. My digital scale shows the SoundLink2 wireless as being 200 grams, and the QC35 at 235 grams. The QC35 weighs 18% more, but if I didn't have a digital scale to measure the weight, I could've sworn they considered the same. Other physical differences - on the SoundLink 2, the battery and Bluetooth icon lights up - something I found refreshing (SoundLink 2 is on the left). On the QC35, there is merely an LED light shining next to the battery and Bluetooth indicator - just something I wanted to point out.
