Fascinating Game for Kids

I recently purchased this for my 9-year-old daughter and it was love at first sight. Her 3DS was beginning to collect a little dust, but no more! She is totally hooked and fascinated as she puts the character on the portal and sees it appear magically on the 3DS screen. Parents, the downside is that your kids will want every single character - and at $9 -$12 a pop it can get pricey. You can read the details about what the game is all about, but it is basically one where you fight your way through monsters and such to get to the next checkpoint. Your selected creatures level up as they go. Note that the first edition characters will work on the Giants edition but not all Giants characters will work on the previous edition. This is really a small problem I think since the old ones still work in the Giants version, although they may lack a fighting skill or two. If in doubt, just stick with Giants. Your kids will love this!
What's great about it: For kids it is like magic. They get very attached and involved with the characters.
What's not so great: It is probably not terribly exciting for adults.

The year is 1765. As the events leading up to the American Revolution are starting to take place in the North, Spanish forces plan to take control of Louisiana, but there is one person standing in their way — Aveline, a deadly assassin with an arsenal of weapons and a mission to win freedom for her people and her land. As powerful and violent forces clash, Aveline will find herself everywhere from the crowded streets of New Orleans to the bayou to underwater lairs filled with lost Mayan treasures. Are you ready to fight for freedom?Eliminate your enemies and secure freedom for your land and your fellow citizens in this new chapter in the Assassin's Creed saga. Play as Aveline, an assassin of mixed French and African heritage, on a deadly mission to ensure Spanish forces don't take control of Louisiana and the South. You must use your skills and instincts — and your deadly arsenal of weapons to hunt down and eliminate your enemies. Wield a machete, take aim with a poison-dart blowpipe, whip out dueling pistols and more as you strike fear into the hearts of those who dare stand in your way. Explore the richly detailed world and animation as you outmaneuver your foes with the Tree Navigation System that helps give you the upper position. Take advantage of the PS Vita's touch pads, motion sensor and built-in camera to execute slow-motion chain kills, pickpocket unsuspecting victims, pursue your enemies in a canoe and more. The Revolution is beginning — what part will you play?

Excellent VITA Game but Very Specific Plot

Assassin's Creed 3 - Liberation for the PSVita does indeed play very much like a console game - the whole reason for owning a PSVita. The graphics are stunning, sound excellent, and gameplay very good. Here is the part of which to be aware. The PSVita version of Assassins Creed 3 is called Liberation. It is not the same story-line as you will get on the PS3, X-BOX, etc. It is a completely different game to be honest. In Liberation, the heroine is female, which probably will not be a problem for most players, other than the hard-core macho types. The problem may arise in that the setting and plot is simply different than the console version. Do not think that you will play it on the Vita and be an expert on the console Assassin's Creed 3. The upside is that you get two different games, if you buy it for the PS3 and the Vita. The downside is the same - it is two different games. Now, with that explained in too much detail, let me say that it is an outstanding game in terms of graphics and gameplay on the PSVita. I think it is a hint of what is to come for this portable, mobile game device. My advice is that there are really not a lot of sophisticated games out yet for the PSVita so I would definitely add this one to my collection - in fact, I have.
What's great about it: The graphics are finally pushing vita closer to its capabilities
What's not so great: It is a very specific game, meaning check it out before buying.

Perfect Note-Taking Device for Meetings or Lecture
on October 11, 2012
Posted by: Rembrandt
from USA
This is the best-kept secret in the world of technology. It is simply amazing! I have been using these pens for several years and am always amazed by what it can do. The Livescribe pen digitally records everything you write and allows you to upload it to your computer, save it in PDF format or have it converted to text, through additional software. In addition, the user can not only take notes, but also record the sound that is being heard as you write. The sound is not only recorded, but also synced to the written text. By later touching a word that you wrote, the audio will play that was being recorded at the moment you wrote that word. This would be invaluable to a student taking notes at college lectures. Both the spoken lecture and the written notes are recorded and synchronized. If you are just starting out, I think you will find the 2gb Pen quite sufficient. If you are a college student, wishing to record each lecture and take notes extensively, the 8gb would be even better. Be aware that you can upload the contents from the pen to your computer and then erase the data in the pen, to give you full storage capacity again. Be aware that with the Livescribe pen, it is necessary to use the special Livescribe paper, which comes in notebooks, journals, pads, etc. One final note: I would grab the replacement warranty since the pen is very sophisticated and I am not sure what would happen if you were to drop it a few times. The peace of mind that the warranty gives is well worth the small price. I highly recommend that you give this a try and with the return policy, if it does not meet your needs, return it. I think you're going to love it like I do.
What's great about it: Amazing, reliable instrument for recording what you write and hear.
What's not so great: No complaints whatsoever.

Superb Digital Recorder

Having used the ZOOM H2 for years, I picked up the H2n, which is a nearly identical machine in terms of quality and functionality. First of all, the recording quality, with the built-in microphones, is nothing short of amazing. The quality is far beyond anything I have ever found in the little hand-held Olympus and Sony memo recorders. This is a professional-quality instrument. Who is it for? I would say that anyone wanting amazingly high-quality recording will enjoy this device. It will capture the voices and sounds around you for future enjoyment. It is excellent for the musician wishing to get a high quality recording of jam sessions. With an input jack, it is easy to record directly from countless sources, creating mp3 or wav files of any bit rate you select. With the ability to use a 32GB SD card, you can record countless hours without the worry of running low on memory. In addition, the fact that it is powered by two AA batteries, means that you never have to wait while the device recharges. You never have to worry about an internal rechargeable battery losing its ability to recharge. I wish the unit was just a bit thinner and a little more rugged but cannot complain. Amazing device worthy of anyone's gadget bag.
What's great about it: Extremely high quality recording.
What's not so great: It is a bit larger and seemingly more fragile than the ZOOM H2

Perfect Companion to the Livescribe Pen
on May 10, 2011

I will let you know right out of the gate that I am and have been a big fan of LiveScribe pens and products for some time. I have never been disappointed with any product of theirs that I purchased - which is about everything they offer actually. I was delighted to see the release of the LiveScribe Folio Cover and grabbed one as quickly as I saw it. With the single-subject notebook inside and a secure pen holder, I now find myself carrying this Folio just about everywhere I go. Now, do not misunderstand this, I do not compare this pen to an iPad, but I find myself carrying this Folio and my Echo Pen now more often than my iPad. With three little business-card size pockets inside the front cover, I find them handy for receipts and things I need to keep and process quickly. The Folio itself is a very professional looking notebook and pen holder that hold its own at any meeting. Do let me point out that if you purchase the Echo Pro package, the Folio Cover is included in the box. The product seems rugged and durable. It is comfortable to carry as well as to hold when writing. If there was a down side, it would be that writing on the final few pages of a notebook is a little bit difficult since the pocket that holds the notebook back cover has a little ridge that can hamper writing. This is only an issue with the final few pages and is hardly a major concern. I am really enjoying my Folio Cover and give it a shinny five-star rating.
What's great about it: Makes carrying your Smart Pen and Notebook so convenient.
What's not so great: Back inside cover can get in the way of writing the final 2 or 3 pages in a notebook.

Great to Have Some Connectivity
on December 8, 2010

This product performs as advertised and will not disappoint. There are two plug-in products in the package - one with an iPad connection on one end and a USB on the other (which is for connecting directly to your digital camera). The second plug-in item has the iPad connection on one end and an SD card reader slot on the other. This provides all of the connectivity available for the iPad, and are two items that should be included in the iPad package, but since it is not, I recommend you purchase this.
What's great about it: Provides connectivity for SD card and digital camera.
What's not so great: It should come with the iPad, but since it does not, you have to buy it.

The Targus Stylus for Apple iPad makes it easy to take notes, draw or simply turn a page. The stylus features a durable rubber tip that won't scratch the iPad's surface and allows the user to type accurately and comfortably. The stylus engages directly with your electronic, touch-screen device, requires no power or software to operate and instantly works right out of the box. Take notes with accuracy and comfort with this stylus designed for use with most devices with a touch screen. The soft rubber tip is durable and won't scratch the screen.

It Does the Job
on December 8, 2010

Recently purchased the iPad and found some of the applications, especially the ones for drawing and art to be a bit difficult using my finger as a pencil or brush. Then I saw this stylus and purchased it. I cannot speak of the longevity of the product, but at the present it does give me more accuracy than I get using my finger. I think it is a bit overpriced, considering the simplicity of the design, but it seems to be the only game in town so I recommend it. It can be used with any touch application on the iPad, which is all of them, and not only improves touch accuracy but also reduces how quickly my screen is covered with fingerprints. I am planning to buy a second one as a backup. Until a less expensive, more durable one is on the market, this stylus will serve quite well.
What's great about it: It increases accuracy in delicate touch applications.
What's not so great: It is a bit overpriced and I am not sure about how long it will last.

PERFECT SIZED NOTEBOOK FOR MY NEEDS
on November 23, 2010
Posted by: Rembrandt
from USA
When I purchased my first LiveScribe pen, it had a starter notebook included which was about 6"x8" (my approximation). Anyway, I found it to be such a convenient size to carry with me and make notes and record ideas and so forth. As it became depleted, I purchased the full-size student notebooks that LiveScribe offers but found them a bit large to carry about with me - perfect for the classroom, but not for my needs. Then, LiveScribe must have been thinking of me and released this original notebook size - like the one that came with my pen. I am delighted to have these and bought up a load of them in the event that they should ever be discontinued - which I cannot imagine. I recommend the full-size notebooks for students, but for the average guy like me, this size is more portable and suitable to my needs. LiveScribe did it again. Thank you!
What's great about it: Size and portability - same as the starter notebook that came with the pen.
What's not so great: No problems whatsoever.

Exceptional DS Experience
on November 16, 2010
Posted by: Rembrandt
from USA
Let me begin by saying that in my rating I listed each individual item as 4 but then gave an overall of 5 stars. My logic is that the challenge, storyline, graphics, and fun are all probably about 4 stars, but the fact that it is happening on a DS is really remarkable, hence the 5th star. I have played a number of DS games with some pushing the limits of the DS and others rather trivial games. Sims 3 does push the DS, probably doing just about as much as you could hope to find in a DS game. In other words, if you buy Sims 3 for your DS and are not pleased, then I seriously doubt any DS game or application will satisfy you. Before you play the game for the first time, clear your mind and do not compare it to what you find on your PC or game console. Compare it to the other things you enjoy on your DS. With that frame of mind, you will find Sims 3 an excellent companion to carry along in your pocket and break out when you find yourself with a little time to kill. Now, with that frame of mind I mentioned, you will realize that compared to the game console, it is really quite comparable in a number of areas. While other reviewers nail down the nuts and bolts of the game, I simply want to assure you that it is not a cheap spinoff to make a quick buck, but a well designed and thought out game worthy to be ranked among the best avilable for the DS. I enjoy it, my 7-year-old daughter enjoys it, and I well imagine you will as well.
What's great about it: Sims 3 is a solid, well conceived, well designed game for the DS, not just a cheap knock off.
What's not so great: It is only "not so great" when you begin comparing it feature-by-feature to the console version.

Rugged and Durable Journal
on March 19, 2010
Posted by: Rembrandt
from USA
LiveScribe has created a rugged journal to compare with Moleskine. With a hard cover and stitched pages, this journal is designed to be carried about and endure rugged handling. The journal is designed to last a lifetime. In the tradition of quality journals, this one has a permanent ribbon bookmark as well as an elastic band page holder so the book will open to the page you mark. In addition, the journals are numbered 1-8 (so be sure you get the volume numbers you want). Each set has two journals numbered 1 and 2, or 3 and 4, etc. In terms of price, the journals are quite competitive with other journals of such quality. One would consider purchasing these journals for use with any conventional pen, but of course the paper is ready for use with the LiveScribe pen. Excellent journal. Highest compliments to the LiveScribe team.
What's great about it: Rugged cover, stitched pages, ribbon bookmark, elastic band page mark
What's not so great: No complaints

How many GB on the Samsung Galaxy 16.3 Camera?

The Samsung camera is advertised as 8GB but when you look at total memory is says 3.97. Am i misssing some memory storage somewhere?
I am not sure exactly how much memory the OS in this camera requires, but it is not an issue since I have a 64gb micro chip in the camera's memory slot.

for videos which is best camera or video camera

I want to take videos, is this camera as good as a video camera ?
This particular camera takes exceptional videos. The answer as to go with a dedicated video camera for videos or with this type camera can be answered on a case-by-case basis by simply reading the specs and comparing the video yourself.

Do you need internet connection to use this camera?

Do you need internet connection to use this camera?
You can definitely shoot pictures and videos with no internet connection. Since it doubles as a droid device, WiFi is necessary to access that aspect of the camera. With WiFi you can upload your photos and videos, download photo editing apps for manipulation of your shots, etc, but to simply take pictures and videos, no internet is required. The SD card can be placed in a computer, or you can USB the camera to a computer to get the pictures and video with no internet at all.

Yes but do consider the keyboard that attaches to it made by Samsung specifically for it. I think you may be happier with that. If you do not get the Samsung attachable keyboard, go with a Bluetooth keyboard.

I am looking for...

I am looking for a 7 inch (or 8 would be okay) Ereader with the paper color/not colored with the web browser on it so I can do email and other basic internet things besides buying/trading books. I don't care the brand, but am looking to spend hopefully no more than 200, hopefully less. Does anybody have any suggestions?
The iPad would be perfect for you, but the price may be a bit over your range. It does allow you to download and read books as well as surf the internet. You may find this meets your need for both an eReader and a computer all in one purchase.

Which is better sony reader or kindle?

The sony reader is about 100 dollars more expensive than the kindle...is it really that much better?
The price on the Sony has been dropping so I am not sure that is as big an issue as it once was. Since "better" is a relative term and picking the best reader for you is highly subjective, based on your needs and desires, I would suggest that you read the reviews for the products here on the Best Buy website. I wrote on for the Sony Reader which explains how it best met my needs. I well imagine similiar reviews have been posted regarding the Kindle.
