Its great, when it works!

I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with my Ring doorbell. Its good, but not totally reliable sending notifications. Same with the Ring Chime. Most of the time the chime rings, but sometimes it doesn't. Plus the maximum volume of the chime is still too low, thus forcing you to purchase more than one chime for a 2500 square foot home. Annoying!
I've tried resets, etc. as recommended by Ring support to address the inconsistent chime activation, but problems persists. I've even changed my Wifi access point and same issue persisted with new access point.
I think Ring is still chasing some bugs.

Good 1st gen for Ring - needs some improvements

I've had my Ring for close to 2 months. Overall I'm content with its operation but there's a few things that were surprising to me (and not in a good way).
1. The video motion detection is amateurish and false alarms to cars and trucks driving by (50 feet away). I've spent hours trying every zone and depth setting and nothing helps to reduce the falsing. The good news is now I know when all my neighbors come and go (not really what I'm interested in seeing).
2. The battery life is about 1 month before a charge is needed. This surprised me even more than the video motion detection issue. Sure I get 6-8 false motion triggers each day, but I don't answer 90% of them. And, on most days no one rings my doorbell. So, I'm wondering under what circumstances you could achieve 6+ months battery life? I suppose with motion set to OFF.
3. My 5 year old has tested the doorbell button a handful of times since I installed the doorbell. About 10% of the time my phone never rings but the app records a missed ring. I suppose an Android app issue.
Otherwise the 1st Gen Ring does what they say. Video and audio quality are good and I've had a few cases where having this video doorbell proved to be helpful.
Note, the 2nd Gen Ring Doorbell Pro is coming out end April for $249. Note that the Pro doorbell requires house wiring (no battery option) but Ring claims to have addressed the video motion issue I discussed above. And its got more new features. Looks good, if I only had house wiring to my doorbell....

After seeing other colleagues with various smartwatches, I came to the realization that if I could find a smartwatch to simply handle notifications well, I'd be happy. Well, the Gear S2 does it for me. My various email accounts, texts, visual VM, calendar events, etc. all properly display on watch. I can even read them so I know if I need to grab phone out of my pocket. Just this is a win for me!
Plus I keep a handful of pics of my kids on the watch so when I'm asked to see pics of them I can now show on watch and not need to dig in pocket for phone.
Its also a decent pedometer and reminder for me to stay active. This is quite secondary for me, but its nice to keep getting nudged to stay active.
Battery life has been great, not quite the 2 days Samsung touts, but on most days I have about 40% left by bedtime. No complaints. (I get lots of notifications during day. Probably more than average).
I got the S2 Classic and like the look. The band is just OK quality but the watch body itself is high quality.
There are a few criticisms but none are deal breakers for me. I'd like to see Google Now integrated and Samsung toss S Voice and instead use Google's voice solution. Honestly, don't expect much from S Voice. I find its often frustrating just trying to ask watch to dial a phone number. So, I no longer bother.
For anyone interested in a smartwatch and mostly needing it to provide notifications, the S2 is a winner.

How well does this watch work with Google Applications?
Before I buy this watch, I want to make sure it works with my Google Apps: Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, Google Keep, Google Now, Google Inbox, and Google Music. If anyone has any feedback or experience, then please let me know.
Works fine with Google apps for notifications. If you wish to control the app, the S2 is a no go! You'll want Android Wear instead.
