If you are a loyal Fitbit user, this is probably the best device you can have. If you mainly use it to track runs, this is also for you. If you are looking for a smartwatch, other products will have more features than this. Not great with the music interface (it's hard to get the music in the watch), but the best fitbit device for tracking steps, heart rate and routes (integrated GPS works great).

There are only a couple of features that improve over the gen 2 nest, but in general very functional. It detects automatically someone in the room so the display turns on. We have set it to display an analog watch which fits elegantly with the decoration of the room. Screen is larger and thinner, helping with the aesthetic of the thermostat.

I bought this initially to operate one living room lamp, but since it has the power measurement feature, i felt it was being underutilized. I moved it to connect my living room tv and sound bar. It works like a charm! Besides, i can control my tv with Amazon Echo, so i just ask "Alexa, turn on TV". It also helps to schedule time device it's on, whenever you don't want to spend more than couple hours watching tv or not letting your kids turn it on before certain time, you can easily program that with the website or app interface.

Easy to operate, difficult to set up

It is one of those things that once you have set it up, will work fantastic. So far about a month in use, and no problems at all. The only thing is that when I tried to set it up, it took a while for the link (the hub that actually connects to your WiFi) to recognize one of the bulbs, but customer service was very helpful in solving the issue.

I purchased this product after knowing it could be integrated with Amazon Echo. I'm just a beginner in home automation through wifi, so this product caught my attention. After knowing all the other things it can do through IFTTT, i don't regret at all my purchase. Buying one for a beginner is advisable, just for testing, until a full plan of integration is developed, since having a switch for all the house would be a very expensive project.

How is the Ionic at tracking steps. My Charge 2 is not even close to accurate. It misses a lot of steps.
It depends on how you calibrate the device. You have to work things out generally with the app for most fitbit devices, but since this one has integrated GPS, you just need you take it for a run/ walk outside and use the device instead of your phone's GPS to track your activity. It will automatically calibrate itself.

You need a hub to connect it to WiFi, but you don't need the light switch.
