A good step up from a beginners auto focus camera. The ability to use either auto or making your own adjustments to achieve the type of photo your after is great. The fact that its a digital camera allows the user to practice alot, merely hit delete if it didn't turn out. Only thing to keep in mind, if you are looking to upgrade from a CoolPix style camera, be aware you will be handling a much larger camera body, doesn't fit in your pocket very well.

What's not so great: Lens to camera body seems backwards.
