The connected dumbbells I did not know I needed

The adjustable dumbbells themselves are great.

The way it works is that once the dumbbells are resting on their bases, there are left and right buttons from the center screen of the base to adjust the weights. The dumbbells have a mechanized rod that connects the weights. Each weight has strong magnets and interlock themselves, so they do not come off once the center rod is in place.
There is no power button, they're ready to go as soon as the weight is changed or they're lifted.

Overall, the dumbbells are excellent on their own. Bear in mind that these are not starter sets. If you're looking to start with smaller weights, options are either 8 lb or 14 lb. Nothing else in between.
I think the iPhone app needs a bit of work but once we get to know its kinks, it works as expected.
The monthly subscription might be a bit steep although videos provide great motivation to make exercises more appealing and so that's worth it.
I like that subscription is completely optional and there is no need to use the app unless you want to track the exercise.

Battery Backup & Surge Protector for Electronics and Computers

This is a simple UPS that's intended to be used with accessories rather than computers themselves, although it can also work, for a shorter duration.
It's a 'square wave' UPS and with a typical sealed lead-acid battery.

It's enough to connect the power bricks from network routers, Wi-Fi and cable modems, but it might not work as expected on more precise power supplies.
It also doesn’t have USB ports for charging nor for monitoring.

I'm adding this to the Wi-Fi router and cable modem so these can still work during outages and short power loss that can happen during winter.

While the concept of a neckband speaker has been around for some time, this is the first I find that is targeted for audio conferencing.
Since I'm now working from home, using headphones is a bit isolating, so being able to hear around me while on audio meetings is interesting to me.

The neckband is very light, all rubberized and barely notice is there, weight wise, it's comfortable to wear during the day.
The controls are very large and intuitive, that can be used without having to look at it:

The headset remembers pairing with the phone and computer, but it works with one device at a time. If I force the connection from either the iPhone or the MacBook, it switches devices.

The mic mute button, when activated, there are no lights on the headset but it plays a voice remainder that the mics are muted very frequently to the point it's too annoying.

Playing music is OK. It's acceptable. Not as good as a good headphone but that's not the point. It's good to be able to hear the environment around me and relieve pressure from my ears.
Battery is excellent. Rated at 20 hours. More than half the charge at the end of the week.

Bluetooth is 5.1 and supports SBC and AAC codecs. Range is about the same as other Bluetooth headphones. My '17 MacBook disconnects it when two rooms away from it, with some walls in between.
The sound is not as directional as I expected. I can hear the conversation, although not as clearly, when leaving them on a table near me.
Overall it's good to alleviate stress on my ears being on conference calls much of the day.

This is the latest on the Osmo line. I used briefly the 1st generation and I was impressed, but it was not as practical. This improves leaps and bounds. It's the lightest yet (by far) and it's the first with a built-in extension (I.e. selfie stick).
Build quality is excellent. It's easy to fold and open with minimal practice. The gimbal arm feels solid. Top-notch metal hinges and comfortable handle.
The built-in extension is so well built that the first time I used it, did not notice this is extensible until I saw the demo videos. While it doesn't extend as far as other sticks, it's exceedingly stable. Nothing flimsy here.
The controls feels just like one would expect from a high-end camera.
For the most part, controls are intuitive:

• Zoom control (L-W).
• Rear: A trigger used for locking a target when tracking.
• Front: Joystick, photo/record, orientation/camera, trigger.

When I first opened the app, I was a bit concerned by the license agreement for this, but had to accept it in order to use this device. Pleasantly, it didn’t require to register it with a DJI account. This is only required if using the DJI storage service. The app saves everything to the camera roll on the iPhone like any other camera app.

There are plenty of tooltips and tutorials through the app. Very helpful the first time but the demo videos can get in the way at first or not load correctly.

Horizontally, it moves about, say, 270 degrees and the up and down movement is severely limited.

The bracket that holds the phone is well made with excellent grip and very strong magnets.
What’s not so great is that it cannot rotate 360 degrees and the vertical movement is limited. This is not a big issue in most cases however but it would be great to have.
Also the application is great for beginners but could use more pro-level features. On iPhone at least, which is what I use, doesn't support integration with other camera apps or filters.
Otherwise, quality is excellent and I don't know anything else that compares to this in features, build quality, precision and responsiveness.

Desktop replacement powerhouse

For someone in need of a desktop replacement PC for creative content that doesn't want to lug around a gaming PC, this machine looks the part with a machined aluminum shelf, and carbon fiber center body, which has a slightly rubbery feel much more pleasant than either plastic or aluminum in other systems. It's fairly thin and while it weights over 5 lbs., it's very reasonable considering this has a 17" 4K+ screen.
The screen in this particular model is the center of attention: 17" in 16:10 4K+ configuration (3840x2400), and HDR capable. I much prefer the 16:10 format for editing images than the more common 16:9 on PCs. Movies also work great because the controls and don't necessarily overlap with the image.
The screen is also touchscreen, and has the thinnest of bezels I've seen on a PC, so it covers about the whole shell, in every side. Note that this is not a 2-in-1 so while it's touchscreen, it does not support active pens. Also note that while it's HDR, it's not calibrated and the standard colors are too saturated.

Keyboard is good, with good travel on its island-type keys. It's comfortable to type as far as laptop keyboards go. Something I find odd is that the left/right arrow keys are oversized while the up/down keys are half-size, packed on one slot. My preference would've been an inverse-T configuration. It's backlighted with two dim levels and off (white).

The key in the top left corner is an unmarked key that is the power button if pressed and also acts as a fingerprint sensor. I've seen this same configuration in other newer Dell laptops and find it confounding why it has no labels for such important functions.
The web camera sits on the top bezel, and has IR sensors, so it works with Windows Hello (So this laptop can use either fingerprint or camera for authentication).
The camera is 720p, which works fine but expected better for a PC at this level. Low-light is acceptable but on the blurry side.

CPU is the now-current 11th gen i7 (8 cores), paired with 16 GB RAM (DDR4, 3200 MHZ), which is expandable, and a very capable 1 TB SSD.
Ports: it has four Thunderbolt4/USB4 ports: Two (primary) on the left side and two on the right. There's also a lock port on the left and on the right, the headphone jack and SD-Card reader.
Power comes from a rather large adapter: Rated for 130 W, USB-C connector (I know USB-C PD is generally limited to 100W, but this adapter is indeed rated for 130 W).
Because of this, about any other USB-C adapter I tried, it warns that is charging slowly.

The system comes in with a neat port adapter: One USB-C to USB 3.0 and HDMI 2.0.
And of course, this model comes with an NVIDIA RTX 3060 with 6 GB RAM.
While this does not outperform the best gaming laptops, it's more than capable for video processing as well as games, being much thinner, lighter and runs cooler.

Wi-Fi is very good, better than other 11th gen laptops with WiFi-6 that I used. In measuring speeds, it can sustain about 400 MBPs upload and download being right next to the base station, and about 200 Mbps while being about 30 ft away with some wall obstructions.
The battery is 6-Cell (97WHr) but the large 4K screen and GPU can take a toll on it so it might not last as much.
External displays: Mixed feelings here: The embedded video (Intel) can drive the laptop's 4K+ screen and one 1080p monitor but adding a second 1080p monitor via a thunderbolt dock, it could only mirror the screen in one of those.
To wire the thunderbolt ports to the NVidia GPU, I found the only way is to go to the BIOS (Pressing F2) and enable "Direct Graphics Controller Direct Output Mode". This is of course nowhere to be found on the system itself and found it searching online. The good thing is that it can be done.

Bundled software: Fairly clean of 3rd party promo-ware, except for McAfee, for which I needed to run an uninstaller downloaded from McAfee since uninstalling it from Windows doesn't completely removed it, and it was installed even while I did not accept it on the initial setup screen.
It also installed Alexa for PC and Spotify. This was simple to remove. There were also a couple of 'promo' stuff that was easily removed. What amused me is the plethora of Dell-branded utility tools this comes with, some of them redundant. Some drivers installed via Microsoft store or Microsoft upgrade, others via Dell Support Assist and others from Dell Update. There's also a collection of tools from Intel, NVidia, audio and Wi-Fi 'helper' tools. A bit too much for someone that prefers clean installs. Anyways, all of this works fine and it's to be expected in about every Windows laptop.

Packaging: Arrived in a Del shipping box, with inside contains a nice black reusable box (made of recycled materials) and the computer and each component came wrapped in a cellophane-like cover.
The only caveats for me, is that for a system intended for creative work, the screen should've come calibrated and management of the external ports (GPU vs Intel) could be improved. Also, Pen support would've been useful even though it's not a 2-in-1 system.
Overall, very pleased with this system, considering this is Dell's current-flagship system, it's as good as it gets on a 17" professional Windows system.

Right sized laptop / tablet

This is a very compact and practical Windows laptop geared towards everyday use.
Upgrading from an older 15" Dell Inspirion, this laptop is slightly shorter.
The 14" screen, with a resolution of 1920x1080 (16:9 HD) doesn't have a big frame like other computers so the screen takes most of the top cover, with relatively thin bezels around it.
Because of that, it's shorter than most laptops making it easier to carry, it just feels better holding it in one hand, and fits better in a backpack.

The shell is all metal, with a light aluminum finish on the top and the bottom (keyboard) part of darker aluminum, with the bottom cover also in light aluminum finish. Overall it looks great.
The keyboard has nice depth, and is dark grey (instead of silver or black as usual). The top right key is actually the power button and fingerprint sensor.

The laptop turns itself upon opening the lid and loads Windows 10 very fast.
Powered off, takes less than 20 seconds to be logged in with the fingerprint, so it's very fast for windows. Much faster if it was sleep, not powered off.

8 GB RAM, 11th Gen i5 and a fast SSD makes it a quick laptop for daily use.

The camera is 720p, and works acceptably well in low-light. There is an actual shutter between the camera and the front glass, with tiny, almost invisible slider on top of the glass. It's mechanical, not electronic, so the camera is still on while the shutter is on.

What I do not like about this laptop is that is has only one USB-C connector that's also used for power, so consider also carrying a portable dock so it can be powered on and use USB-C for data or to connect to a monitor.
Also, while mane devices with Intel 11th gen CPU, like this, have a newer USB4/Thunderbolt connector, this still carries a single USB-C 3, limiting it from using higher-end storage or using it with an external video card, so this limits it somewhat.

Wi-Fi is type Wi-Fi 6 (AX) and measured 200 Mbps upload and download, while getting gigabit through an ethernet USB-C dock, on the same network.
The initial setup was fairly quick and straightforward with Windows 10, except it has to reboot countless times between the initial setup and all the required software updates and Dell firmware upgrades as well, but this is no different than any other Windows 10 setup.
It comes with a bunch of Dell utility tools and thankfully not much in term of 'bundled' software except for McAfee that I had to remove after initial setup, and did not prompt me if I wanted it. This and another Dell advertisement tool, it came without any other unwanted software.

Although I particularly much preferred it came with a Thunderbolt port, this is a good, reliable laptop and really like the narrower form-factor and that the screen covers most of the frame without large bezels like on previous models.

It's a nice little instant camera. Fits easily in a backpack for a day trip.
Pictures are small, at about 2x2 in. They easily fit in a wallet.

It charges via Micro-USB and it should last many photo cartridges.
Each cartridge hold 8 photos.

This is very compact, with an all-metal case. On one side it's USB-C and USB-A on the other.
Speeds is what one would expect from modern USB storage devices (AJA System Test):
Write: about 50 MB/s
Read: about 145 MB/s

Comes pre-formatted with Fat32, with a PDF with a link to SanDisk MemoryZone on Android's Play Store, and the same android APK to side-load.
It's about universally compatible: Works with Android, MacOS, Windows, iOS (With Apple's Camera adapter unless on iPad Pros, which works directly), Android and Chromebook.
Works on my older (USB) MacBook Pro, newer (2017, USBC-C Thunderbolt), new Chromebook (Intel 11th gen, Thunderbolt 4).
I can use it on all my devices.
Some small issues:
- It gets quite hot. This also happens with other USB drives, but it's worth noting.
- Connecting the USB-C side to a computer sticks out too much, it's not flush. Same happened on MacBook, PC (Dell) and Chromebook, so it's clearly the drive's design.
- Because of the double-ended design, there are no caps to protect the connectors from dust.

The electric kettle that pours as good as it looks! Uniting stunning design with thoughtful features and a simplistic user interface, Fellow’s Stagg EKG packs a powerful punch. Since different coffees and brew methods require different water temperatures, a home brewer needs complete control in order to perfect recipes. Simply press down on Stagg EKG’s dial to turn the kettle on and twist the dial to set your goal temperature. With a 1200 watt quick-heating element and a unique PID sensor system, Stagg EKG’s to-the-degree temperature control lets you select the exact temperature from 135°F to 212°F. Functional design, precise temperature control

This kettle is much form as it is functional.
Let's just say it looks great (And it comes in several color options), so it's something people would like to 'show off' in the kitchen.

The base is a perfect square, very minimalistic with a matrix display on one corner that is barely noticeable when off, and a single control knob on the other. On the rear of the base there's the power cable and two switches: One for the hold function and other for the F/C reading setting.
The kettle is all metal, except for its base where it holds the heating element, and the handle is a high-quality plastic (for my black model) or real wood for other color options. The manufacturer also sells replacement handles in walnut or maple if you feel like splurging on a wooden handle.
The gooseneck design and the balanced handle allows for a very precise and steady pouring. This design manages to make it comfortable to hold while pouring, and the narrow gooseneck lets pour the right volume of water.
The precise temperature control is incredible, with precision up to a single degree. It uses a 'PID Controller', which is a system used in industrial applications. Basically, it continuously measures the current water temperature and adjusts the power level appropriately to reach the target temperature, without 'overshooting' like conventional kettles.
Why is this precision important? Coffee burns acid at the boiling temperature of 212 degrees, but is much less acid if brewed around 190-195 F.
So this kettle is ideal for pour over, which is basically pouring the coffee beans into a (paper) filter, let it bloom with a bit of water (this is key to control acidity), wait about 30 seconds to let the beans air out the acid chemicals and then slowly pour in circles for an even brew, into a decanter or mug.

I can now consistently get brew my coffee without heartburn and tastes great.
The hold function (switch on the back) sets it to keep the water temperature for up to 1 hour.

Now the tea drinker in the house also loves this kettle, so much that we put away the tea kettle and just use this exclusively. The temperature control also works great for different teas that need to brew at different temperatures (212 F for black tea also works great with this kettle).
There are a couple of considerations however: Because it's all metal, the body of the kettle gets uncomfortably hot, and particularly, the cover has vent holes so it gets too hot to remove without using kitchen mittens. Also pressing the on button sometimes does not turn on the kettle. I found that pressing the button, lifting the kettle and pressing it again works. Not sure if this quirk is a safety feature, but I did not find an explanation for it on the manual.
Overall, if you're nearly obsessed about good coffee, a precision kettle makes a big difference, and reduces the acidity of the brewed coffee, and let's be honest, it looks great.

We have air purifiers in different parts of the house, due to allergies, so I've seen a few models.
The unique factor with this is that instead of using a single fan, that is either very large or spins fast, this has six small fans spread through the body of the unit.
The first benefit is that is much quieter, so I can leave it running all night bedside, and it's barely audible.
It's also compact, width-wise, although taller than many others. Being short in width allows me to leave it close to the wall, between windows and does not protrude as much.

It has an air quality sensor, measuring different particle sizes, and provides and overall 'air score' where 100 is the most clean. The display shows different measurements, and a color ring changes from blue (clean) to yellow (moderate) to red (bad) depending on the air quality.
With this data, in auto mode, it adjusts four different speeds on the fans (all at the same speed) depending on how much air if needs to circulate.

The air intake is through the filters, on the back of the unit and spreads the cleaned air on both left and right sides.
The front is polished plastic. (This model is black, they also have it in white). The top is also glossy with a clear plastic on top of black, where it has the main screen and touch controls. I don't find it aesthetically pleasing. It's rather utilitarian looking, but this all depends on how and where it's used.

The touch controls are actually very responsive. I had other appliances that are a pain to operate touch controls but this got it just right. There's an on/off, speed level or auto, timer and screen brightness. Also a filter reset.
The filter is one piece with three layers: Dust filter, HEPA filter and carbon filter. It's single piece with all the filters bonded together and it goes in one way only. It's very easy to swap the filter.
Screens: For some inexplicable reason, this fan has two screens that shows a clean score and the color ring. The screen on top also has the controls and the one in the front has the same information without the controls. It's a feature so it can be seen from any direction but it's really a design quirk. It's fine and very useful, but I don't like that the unit has no light sensor. It can be set to bright, medium and off. The medium setting is distracting at night, so after a few days I turned the screens off. Other units have a light sensor that adjusts the screen automatically. It's a small detail in these high-end purifiers but this, that has two screen doesn't have it.
Remote control: It has a nicely designed remote control, with a big on/off button and all the other controls. Looks modern and works well, with nicely arranged buttons. It comes with its bell (watch type) battery, which I'd expect would last for years. It has no app or phone/cloud connectivity (And frankly, does not need to).
I noticed that if the unit is on, unplug it and then plug it back on, it returns to it's previous setting. This is great so I could use an appliance switch if I want to with this.
Packaging was good, without excess of cardboard, the necessary amounts of bag and no Styrofoam (Which regardless of not being recyclable, invariably makes a mess when removing, with irritating noises). So props for thought-of packaging.
The unit was manufactured in China, however SharkNinja operates from, and designs its own products in Needham, Massachusetts.
Overall it's a great unit. Seems well built and it is exceptionally quiet. It's also not bulky although it's wide and tall. I'm happy so say I can keep this bed-side running all day, being quiet.

Can you grate cheese with this product?
Didn't try it yet for cheese since we only grate small portions at a time. It does have a thin shredding disk that should work with aged cheeses, depending on how thin you need it to be

It comes pre-assembled. There is nothing to do, just wash the bowl and accessories and use it.

Does the Velop AX4200 work with CenturyLink fiber gigabit internet? I'm currently using the Eero Pro wifi system and I'm forced to use it in bridge mode because my CenturyLink modem only supports PPPoE.

I have 3 existing Velop AC2200 nodes used to create a mesh network. Is this compatible with an existing AC2200 Velop system or would I need to rebuild from scratch or purchase another AC2200 node?
It does work with existing AC Velop. I suggest you make the AX4200 the primary node. I was in a similar sitiuation and chose to rebuild the Wi-Fi network using the same name and password, and remove the AC nodes since these are faster and with better range
