Control your electronics and your energy costs with this TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart plug. The energy-monitoring feature makes it easy to keep track of a device's power usage history, and the pass-through plug can be scheduled to turn devices on and off as needed. Remotely access your TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart plug using the convenient Kasa app and your smartphone, or control it with your voice using Amazon Echo or Google Home (sold separately).

TP-Link Smart Plug, No Hub Required

If you want to venture into the world of Smart Home automation, the TP-Link Smart Wi-Fi Plug (HS110) is a great place to start. My first TP-Link device was the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini. That device is a little smaller and does not cover up as much of the second outlet when plugged in to the top outlet. If plugged into the bottom, it will cover both outlets.
Setup is a breeze. You first download the Kasa app from your preferred app store (Apple’s App Store or Google Play). You plug the device in and following the directions in the app. This involves connecting the device to your Wi-Fi network through your phone or tablet. You then go back to the app and finish the setup. From start to finish it took about two minutes. There was a firmware update I needed to do and then I was ready to go!
The Kasa app allows you to turn the Smart Plug on from anywhere you are connected to the Internet. That is so handy if you forgot to leave a light on when you left the house. It also works woth Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. It is very easy to add you plug to the Smart Home section of the Alexa app. It then allows youi to control the plug with your voice!
The only difference between the HS100 and HS110 is the energy monitoring feature. It will allow you to check the electric usage on the plug. You can check the current power in W and the total consumption in kWh. It also gives you an average for 7 & 30 days.
You can use the Kasa app to create a schedule when you want the plug to turn on/off and set up an away mode. When in Away Mode, during the period of time, your device will be randomly turned on or off. The TP-Link website describes it “It deters bad guys by setting your lights to turn on and off on a schedule so it seems like you’re home when you are actually away.” It also has a timer mode.
I have installed TP-Link Smart Plug minis and Smart Light Switches and they all work flawlessly. It comes with a 2 year warranty and 24/7 Tech Support. What does not to like. Give it a try. I’m pretty sure you will be back to buy some more!

Superb images and options

I have to admit I am really impressed how easy it was to setup and use this surveillance camera. Since I already use the KASA app for another TP-Link products, all I had to do was select add device feature on my app and follow the instructions and the KC120 it was up and running in minutes. It has a magnetic base so you can attach it to any metal surface, or use the included mounting bracket for wall mounting.
The entire face of the camera rotates so it makes it simpler to adjust the angle of the field of view of the camera. It also can be tilted forwarded and backward. The picture is so vivid and clear as you can see in the attached photos. There are many options to pick from like notification settings, recording scheduling, two way communication, and recording activity zone to name a few.
What is makes this camera stand out above the rest is the 2 DAY access to recordings instead of 24 hours like most others offer. Viewing the recordings the videos is so simple too. You can view them from the app or download them to your device. A cloud service will be available that is a paid service that will store your recordings for up to 30 days, this subscription service will be available in November 2017. In my opinion two days is more than plenty for me. I activate the recordings only when we are not home because I want to ensure our gun safe and my jewelry are secure. Otherwise I view the camera in live mode to call my dogs and see what they are up to.

Control your lights, ceiling fans, and other fixtures from anywhere with the HS200. The smart switch replaces any standard light switch, and connects to your home Wi-Fi in no time through the free Kasa app. Kasa also lets you manage connected fixtures with your smartphone or tablet, including setting schedules, timers and countdowns. For added convenience, you can use your voice to control the HS200 when paired with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

Smart Wi-fi Light Switch
on December 27, 2017

I have four flood lights in my backyard. When switched on they illuminate my whole yard. The only problem is that the switch for them is downstairs next to a sliding glass door and covered by curtains. Many times I wished that when I was upstairs I could turn on the lights to see what was going on in the yard, without having to go downstairs. I know it’s a first world problem, but technology came to my rescue! The TP-Link Smart Wi-fi light switch was the answer to my problems. I already have six TP-Link Wi-fi Plug Minis controlling various devices around my home and the Alexa integration is awesome. The light switch made an awesome addition to my burgeoning smart home.
The KASA app does walk you through the installation and I watched a few YouTube videos, however, I had to move a couple of other switches, so I hired an electrician. He was done in just over 10 minutes and my switch was added to my network in just a few minutes after that. I already had a KASA account, so you will need to create one if you don’t have one. You then select that you want to add a Smart Switch. The Wi-Fi light will blink amber and green. You then connect the device to your home network, name your new switch and you’re done! I then launched the Alexa app and added the switch to my devices and now I was able not only able to control the switch via the KASA app, but also from telling Alexa to turn on my flood lights. The KASA app allows you to set up a schedule for your devices. I find the app very intuitive. You can also set up an Away schedule. When in Away Mode, during the period of time, your device will be randomly turned on or off. This will help deter those ne’er-do-wells who might be scoping your home. You can control your lights and switches from anywhere you have access to the internet.
Inside the box besides the switch and switch plate are four wire nuts. It comes with 2 year warranty and 24/7 tech support. The switch also works with Google assistant. The only suggestion I would have would be to offer these in different colors. I have some crème colored switches in my kitchen that I would love to “switch” out, but the white would not go with the rest of the kitchen. I will keep my fingers crossed!

The Archer C7 covers your home with fast dual-band Wi-Fi. The 2.4GHz (450Mbps) Wi-Fi band is perfect for sending emails, browsing the web and listening to music. The 5GHz band reaches 1300Mbps so you can game and stream in HD at the same time without interruption.

Super Easy Setup
on December 5, 2017

I have setup many WiFi routers, and this by far is the easiest and fastest one I have ever done so far. It took maybe less than 5 minutes in all. It pretty much does everything on it's own as long as you follow the illustrated instructions. Once you log into the web interface in only takes seconds to have it up and running after you set up an account.
Of course if you want to go into more specific account settings such as parental controls and QoS priority, it will take a bit more time. The only difference with the Archer C7 and C8 is that the C7 does not have a 3.0 USB port. Other than that, all the other features all all the same.
The only reason it loses a star is because the 5.0 GHz band does not seem as strong as the 2.4GHz. I have a strong 5 bar on the 2.4, but only get 3 bars at the most on the 5.0 GHz.

Great way to introduce you to smart home devices

This will work whether you are in the house connected to wi-fi or from a cellular network. Other smart plugs I have tried did not have the cellular control.
A great feature of the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is integration with Amazon’s Alexa. I have an Amazon Echo, an Echo Dot and a Tap. All three of these devices can be used to control the Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini. It works great. I had to go the TP-Link website to get the instructions. It is very easy to set up. The Smart Wi-Fi Plug Mini is a great entry into the Smart Home market. Its slim design, great features and affordable price make it a winner. No more climbing under the tree to turn the lights on!
