The tub is really big. Even for a family of three, I feel like I keep adding more and more clothes, and never come close to filling it. (Not that I know how much I can fill it, since no one gives out manuals anymore.) It was tricky figuring out how much soap to use, also, since this is our first HE machine. The marking on the detergent tray for maximum level is a bit confusing, but I've come to determine that if I can smell the detergent a little on the clothes afterwards, we probably used about the right amount. Speaking of the detergent tray, we were disappointed to find that it had started to rust on the back of the slide bars after only a few loads. (It is nice that we can pull the tray out to empty the water and let it dry, though.) I had trouble initially learning to start it. It says to hold the button to start. I was interpreting that to mean to press down on it. Now I know not to do that! I do not agree with the reviews that say it is noisy. The sounds are just different than the old style machines. The banging it does make when it 'shifts gears', so to speak, is somewhat loud. But overall I would say it is probably softer than a traditional machine. (And by the way, the repair technician who 'educated me' about the start button told us that if it didn't make all those noises, he'd be coming out to fix it.) Overall I like the machine and like how it has preset cycles, but you can still customize the individual settings, such as temperature or spin speed. My biggest complaint is the length of time it takes to wash, averaging 50 minutes to just over an hour.
