4K Gaming at its Finest

Verified Purchase:Yes
Coming from a four year old 1080p Samsung television, I wanted a 4K TV that would last me for a while, as I normally only purchase a TV once every four-five years. I did a lot of research online and decided the Sony
49" 900E was going to be the one.
You will be blown away by the deep blacks and vibrant colors once you've set this baby up. I've tested the 900E with The Xbox One S and the PlayStation 4 Pro and I'm very pleased with the low input lag and the beautiful picture. Having also watched a 4K Blu Ray on the Xbox One S, I can never go back to watching Blu Rays in 1080p resolution. 4K and HDR has really spoiled me.
Two tips for those of you that plan on picking up this TV:
1) After your initial set up, click HOME on your remote and scroll down to SETTINGS. Make sure the OUTPUTS are set to ENHANCED. ENHANCED enables 4K on your HDMI inputs.
2) Purchase a couple of HDMI cables that are 2.0 (18gps). Our old HDMI cables from the 1080p days will not output at 4K.
In closing, The Sony 900E not only satisfies my 4K gaming and movie watching needs, it takes them far beyond satisfactory to a whole new level.

Can the remote control be used manually too? I realize the provided control is a voice remote control, but if using headphones while watching tv to avoid disturbing others I do not wish to have to talk to change channels or access tv features.

Yes. The remote can be used manually. It has a very nice layout to it.

Is this tv Directv ready?

Yes. I had trouble getting the 900E to fully recognize my Genie receiver, though. The TV comes with an IR blaster that you'll plug into the TV and set in front of the DirectV receiver. It's supposed to read the commands from the DirecTV remote and transfer them to the Sony remote via a walkthrough test, but mine never fully recognized it. Could have just been my model of receiver.
