The JBL bluetooth speaker gives great sound and handles hands-free calls through a cel phone great. The only drawback I find is its cylinder shape; I'd prefer to have a speaker that would sit flat and solid on a surface. But it's only a minor drawback - overall great speaker

I had a Mini Life Jacket 2, but it was destroyed in a car accident, so I went with the Life Jacket 3. The best improvement I've noticed is that when a phone call is incoming when my phone is connected, the sound stays at full volume; EVERY OTHER bluetooth speaker I've ever tried (including the Life Jacket 2) drastically lower volume as soon as a call connects; not this one! Of course, the quality of the music output is very good as well, even having a pretty full bass.

why do I need to charge a wireless headset? I'm new at this tech stuff
Because wireless means that it runs on a battery. The battery has limited power before it runs out. When the battery runs out of power, the wireless headset does not function. To use it again, the battery must be reloaded with power, thus "charging/recharging." No, a wireless/bluetooth device cannot obtain power through its wireless/bluetooth connection.
