As an owner of two Dell high end computers (AIO and Laptop), I was pleased to have the opportunity to test drive this new mid-level model. Once I figured out how to put the “feet” properly on, setup was a breeze. The graphic for attaching the feet wasn’t especially clear to me as to which way they should be put on. Finally, I went online for a picture of the finished product, and it clearly showed me the way. After that it was smooth sailing. As with most computers today, it pretty much setup itself. After using the device for a few days, I found a lot to like.
Features include:
*Win11 Home 64-bit operating system.
*AMD Ryzen 5 753OU processor combines excellent multitasking abilities with responsive gaming capabilities. Processing speed is up to 4.5Gb. Storage is 512Gb and RAM 8Gb with RAM speed of 3200Mh. It runs quickly and efficiently.
*Dual band WiFi6 makes it almost 3x faster than WiFi5. I have a WiFi6 Tri-band mesh system, and the two very quickly joined together to make for quick up-/down-loading.
*The 24” touchscreen is very responsive to touch. Its LED backlight Full HD provides viewing. In addition, the screen has a dual purpose. Utilizing the HDMI port, the screen can easily be used as a 2nd display for another device.
*Audio is excellent! Putting it to a tough test, Thunderstruck, Master of Puppets, Brain Damage, and even the 1812 Overture, Op.49 blew me away. It probably won’t make you trash an excellent music system, but it could be a worthy option. After all, it’s AIO.
*Of special note, this mid-level AIO has more connectivity options than some higher levels. Onboard are Ethernet port: 1, HDMI: 1, USB: 3, USB-C: 1, and Media card: 1.

*The power button is under the right corner of the CPU. This is common in AIO’s, but this one is almost flush to the surface, so you may have to feel about to find it the first few times. Then, it should no longer require a search.

All in all, this Dell Inspiron AIO is an excellent choice, in terms of capabilities combined with reasonable cost. It would be a great choice for home, office, or as a graduation present. Without a doubt, I would recommend it to family and friends.

Excellent Small Refrigerator

Looking for a small refrigerator for home or office, this would be an excellent choice. It looks good inside and outside, plus set up is easy. All you need is electricity, because there is no app to download, and no Wi-Fi needed.
The interior design affords lots of usable space. Along with 3 sturdy glass shelves, there are in-the-door racks that can hold lots of soft drinks, beer, food items, etc. Using the preset cooling level, the temperature is perfect for keeping them cold. My use is predominantly for beverages, and it is great to have cold ones at hand without taking up room in the big fridge. Should you want it more or less cool, the control is easy to access on the interior wall.
Set up entails removing the fridge from its carton, placing it in an appropriate spot, adjusting the balancers if needed, and plugging it in. As to placement, it is recommended that the fridge has room to breathe. Placing it in a confining area can adversely affect proper long-term operation, which is not uncommon for appliances of this type. Once it’s running, give it time to cool the inside, before loading it up.
This fridge offers lots of room for food and drinks within a small footprint. I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to achieve that goal.

Great Laptop. Except for…

From my experience, Asus makes excellent products. The Q540VJ upholds that, except for one glaring exception.
Features include:
*15.6” OLED 2880 x 1620 HD screen. Great display for pictures and graphics.

*Storage is SSD type with 1T of space. The average user should not have to be concerned about running out of storage space.
*RAM memory is a hefty 16Gb.

*Backlit keyboard. Should you not want the keys lit, “there’s an app for that.” Just kidding, there is a “key” for that.

As you can tell there is a lot to like about the Asus Q540VJ. Lots of processing horsepower and lots of space for storing your work. That said, there is one thing about this laptop that I find to be a major negative, especially given how great it is otherwise. The excellent screen is not a touchscreen! That feature is practically a given these days, especially at the price level of the laptop. I have gotten so used to a touchscreen and all the tasks it helps with that not having one is most annoying. Retro may be fashionable in some products, but it is not in laptops. If you don’t care about having a touchscreen, the Q540VJ could be an excellent choice for you. That is why I only dropped one star from the rating.

Excellent Choice for Home or Small Office

I am pleased to have had the opportunity to test and review this small new printer from HP. My personal home printer is a much larger, full function, and more expensive HP that serves me very well. If I were to downsize, this new 6065e would be an excellent choice, plus it comes at a very affordable price.
Unpacking and readying the device for set up is pretty much the most labor-intensive part of the process. If you already have the HP Smart app on your computer, you can be fully operational in less than five minutes. Open the app, follow the instructions, and the device will take over most of the labor required. Having the app already did give me a head start, but still I was impressed. It was possibly the most hands-free printer set up that I have experienced. Wi-Fi and network connection were ready in seconds.
Major functions of this little work horse include:
*Print: Reasonably quick. Print output clarity is excellent. Even though there is no document feeder, duplex printing is easily done without your intervention. When duplexing, there is a short pause between front and back printing. (NOTE: Do not touch the printed sheet until both sides are printed.)
*Scan: Scanner is reasonably fast, accurate, and documents can easily be saved to a file. This function is not duplex. If duplex scanning is a must, HP has some excellent choices available at higher cost.
*Copy: This function is also reasonably fast, and the copy quality is excellent.

Quite possibly, you will control the functions using the app on your computer, smart phone, or other. However, you can also use operational buttons on the front of printer. They light up as needed. In this category, the one item that I do not like about the 6065e: the on/off button is on rear of the printer! So, you will need to lean over to find and use it. An annoyance unless you rarely turn off the printer. That said, it is not important enough to downgrade the 5-star rating.
The footprint of the 6065e is small, making it easy to find a spot for its home. As such, it is an excellent, space saving printer for home, small office, or possibly even a dorm room. Wherever it’s put, it will be ready to assist when needed. Also, the price is right for gifting. A lot of value for the money makes the 6065e a great choice in small AOI printers.

Marshall = Quality Sound

Marshall has a long history of excellent amps/speakers. Those they produce today still meet or exceed the high bar they set years ago. I have a Marshall Willen that I totally love. It’s approx. 4”x4”x 1.5” yet it sounds as good, if not better than, many of the big boys. Getting the opportunity to try out the new Middleton model was an offer I could not refuse.
After a full charge, I Bluetooth connected the speaker (quick and easy) to an Alexa Show. It did not take long to have me impressed with its performance. From Buffett to Pink Floyd and other genres in between, the Middleton produced terrific musical enjoyment. Once you locate the bass and treble controls on the black-on-black top of the speaker, they are readily accessible thereafter. Because the high/low sounds so good at the out of the box setting, I haven’t felt the need to change anything.
Along with the bass/treble controls, the others are also on top for easy access. In the center is a brass toggle button that controls on/off, play/pause, volume up/down, and skip forward/backward. I was delighted to see that, because I was used to the toggle on the Willen that works perfectly. Unfortunately, that was not to be. Other than the on/off functions, the play/pause and volume up/down were a bit slow to respond. The forward/backward does not work at all. This is unfortunate because the Middleton is a slam dunk 5-star performer.
Other features include solid build that is water and dust resistant, 20+ hours of battery power, and a stack mode for utilizing a second Middleton (good for parties or other functions where people are spread out.
If I could take a half star off for the operational issues, I would. Thus, the 4-star rating. That said, with a caveat regarding the toggle, I would recommend the Middleton.

Excellent Performance at Affordable Price

Sony is one of my favorite brands; and I’ve never gotten a dud, be it TV, BD player, speakers, etc. The WH-C720N headphones uphold my confidence in Sony.
When removing them from the box, you’ll quickly discover how lightweight they are. That and the ergonomic over the ear design make for excellent head/ear comfort. I wear hearing aids, so in-the-ear buds aren’t an option. Charge the battery, and you are all set.
My music source for these phones is one of my Echo Shows, and the Bluetooth pairing was done in seconds. Choosing a mix of music types, I put the phones to the test. From first to last, the sound was great. Channel separation and balance, as well as clarity are superb. I was hearing musical voices that I had not heard previously, even with hearing aids.
In addition to the excellent sound, there are more great features. Noise cancelling isn’t 100%, but I’ve never had phones that were. That said, cancelling is at an acceptable level. A full charge provides a lot of listening time. The longest consecutive time I’ve used the phones was about 45 minutes, and there was still power to spare when I shut it down. The Bluetooth connection works so well that I can roam all over my two-story house, out on the deck, and in my yard. If connected with a mobile phone, making/receiving hands-free phone calls is no problem.
Sony scores with another winner. When the weather is nice, I look forward to a lot of deck time with these headphones playing my music. They really fill the bill, and at an affordable price. Get yourself a pair and enjoy your music indoors or outdoors.

Big Thing, Small Package

For house phones, I have used Panasonic for many years, because they are great. My current system, with base plus four satellite handsets has served me well for over ten years. Having the opportunity to try out the latest version from Panasonic was an opportunity to see how the KX-TG890 (890) compared to the very high bar set my current phone system.
The 890 base station has a very small footprint compared to previous models, thus saving counter space. Most everything you need to do as to settings can be done on the handset. For a senior citizen, handset ergonomics are most helpful. It fits nicely in the hand, making for a comfortable grip. The number and other keys are larger in size, thus making them easier to read and push. There is no speaker button, per se. However, the speaker function is built into the Talk button. Push Talk once to use phone up to your ear and mouth, and to use speaker press Talk twice. All phone settings can be accomplished on the handset. Follow the easy-to-use instructions in Settings. Also, a detailed instruction book is included in the box.
An especially nice asset is the Call Block button on the handset. Carefully follow the instructions, and you can select from several options (manual and automatic) for handling unwanted calls. Pick which you prefer, activate it, and you are done. Another helpful key on the handset is Pair, allowing you to Bluetooth connect to compatible wireless ear buds/phones. Pair up and roam around if you have the need while staying in Bluetooth range.
Other features include: 2-way recording allowing you to save important conversations or perhaps scare off a scam caller, long battery life up to 10 hours continuous talk (Bluetooth off) or 7 hours (Bluetooth on), bilingual English/Spanish talking ID, excellent audio quality, and digital answering machine with large red counter on base unit. If you want to add more handsets, you can easily add up to six.
For me the 890 sets a new and higher bar in home phones. It’s truly a Big Thing in a Small Package. I have no qualms about recommending it to family, friends, or to anyone looking for a great choice in house phones.

“Powerful shave, gentle on skin”

Philips Norelco (PN) has long been known for good to outstanding shavers of one type or another. This new 5400, in my humble opinion, is one of the best, if not the best, I have ever tried. It’s got all I need for a proper shave in a single device. Having a built-in moustache/sideburns trimmer is a great convenience and a time saver, because there’s no need to stop and attach a trimmer head. This particular asset is not unique to the 5400; however, I think it’s pairing with the outstanding 5400’s overall shaving quality makes it stand out from the others.
For quite some time I have kept an electric razor ( upgrading as time passed, always PN, currently a 6800) for when I want a quick, not necessarily close shave. When I need a really close shave, my face tells me a double edged razor shave is hard to beat. This new 5400 is a game changer!
“Powerful shave, gentle on skin” is a statement printed on the box containing the shaver. That is a statement I cannot argue with. My facial skin is somewhat sensitive, and I tested the 5400 dry, damp, and with shave gel. With my older 6800, I felt a little razor sting with dry, then decreasing for wet or gel. A dry shave with the 5400 was comparatively free of sting. Wet only with water improved the experience. BUT, when I used the 5400 with my usual shaving gel, it blew me away. For the first time ever, I got a smooth shave from an electric razor that is a worthy competitor to my manual shaving razor! The new and improved self-sharpening blades (45 blades with 90,000/minute cutting action), contour of the heads, SenseIQ hair sensing technology, snap-out moustache/sideburns trimmer, and a highly ergonomic design bundle together to make an outstanding shaving experience.
There is no doubt that I would recommend it to family or friends. In fact, I already have someone in mind.

No to YES in 3 Tries

When I first removed these goggles from their box my impression was “big and heavy.” I put them on feeling if I added “uncomfortable” I would have them pegged. After fully charging, I experimented with the three operating modes. Again, first impressions were mixed. Trying each Mode, my reactions ranged from my eyes are going be mashed, my face will be burned, I’ll get a worse headache, etc.
The next day, ensuring I had the goggles on in a comfortable (important!) position, I tried again with each Mode running a complete cycle. By relaxing my body and opening my mind to the sensations, I liked what I was feeling and lost all concern of danger to my head. On the third day of use, I was a true believer in these goggles. The three Modes are similar in operation, but each provides a variable on the main theme of relief and relaxation.
My favorite is Mode 1, which is the one I felt most uncomfortable with in the beginning. After lunch, it is siesta time, and these goggles are now an important part of the routine. After reading a little, I put them on, activate the recliner, fire up Mode 1 (SmartRelax), and close my eyes. The massaging action focusing on eyes, center forehead, and temples lulls me into blissful relaxation, resulting in a restful nap.
These Therabody Smart Goggles are a winner in my opinion. Early on, I was thinking that it’s too bad you can’t read or watch TV or a movie while wearing these. Then, while in Mode 1, the answer came to me. It was a “duh” moment. So, if you are having trouble relaxing, even for a few minutes, I’d suggest you run, don’t walk, and get yourself a pair of these goggles. Even if you can relax, these could be an enhancement.

The packing box for the P400 might have you think the device is large and bulky, but it is not. In fact, its streamlined design and true size makes placement an easy task. Once out of the box, setup is so easy, you could have it plugged in and running in less time than it took to get it unpacked. Easy to follow instructions are provided in an enclosed pamphlet. Be sure to remove the plastic bag protecting the main filter.
I have breathing issues and need clean cold air at night to help reduce nasal airway congestion. The A/C takes care of the temperature, so I need a reliable air purifier. I placed the P400 within four feet of my bed. After several nights of use, it has done an excellent job in assisting my breathing, which also enhances sleep quality. The P400 has five speeds from whisper quiet to “blow you away.” I am using the low speed; and, as close as it is to my bed, there is total silence.
Changing air cleaner filters can get expensive, especially if you need to do it often. Fortunately, the filter on the P400 is projected to last a full year with normal use. The change filter icon will come on after 3,000 hours of use. In addition, the P400 comes with a 5-year warranty.
While the P440 is great performance-wise, it is not perfect. It lacks a couple of features that could make it perfect. While there is an app for the device, it does not provide any control function for the device. In addition, there is no voice control. Any adjustments of operational functions are all manual. In today's world of hands-free operations (Voice with Alexa/Google or “There’s an app for that.”), it seems almost antiquated. That’s the reason for the lost star. It’s not a major problem for me so far, because I have had no need to make any additional adjustments. That said, it would be nice to have the option. Nevertheless, with this one caveat, I would recommend it to a friend.
