Splurge on yourself and buy these. They'll unintentionally turn you into sound snob and have you wondering how you listened to music before folded motion tweeters. I bought two of these for a simple all-purpose stereo system for TV, music, & movies and paired it with a Denon AVR920. It sounds fantastic. They're great if you like a wide variety of music. The mid to highs are really clear for your folk/acoustic tracks where you can hear every pin drop, and there's plenty of boom to shake the apartment down when you start listening to Kendrick. The first few weeks I was just jamming to my entire music collection because it sounded so great and you hear new things in tracks because of the clarity of the folded tweeters. I'll probably get a subwoofer when I move to larger place and for improved movie effects, but I honestly don't miss it with two of these as front speakers. Not sure how to really describe the bass--some of the other highly rated speakers make everything bass heavy--even commercials, which annoying--these speakers in comparison are just clean sounding. The boom is there only when it's intended--the apartment shouldn't shake for a voice over in a yogurt commercial. Very happy with this purchase--I'll probably buy more speakers from the Martin Logan Motion series. Really the only decision you have to make is whether you need the 20s, 40s, or 60s depending on the size of the room and how badly you want to upset the neighbors. I almost bought the 40s and I'm glad I didn't.
