Over the last few months I have been looking for a set of wireless headphones that I can have with me all of the time. Either while working in the yard or at the office. Sony’s MDR-XB80BS surprised me for their easy fit and lightweight. Of the half dozen brands I have tried only the Sony’s fit right out of the box. There a bit bulky behind the ears but that keeps the weight off of the cord which can pull down on the heavy side that some other headphones have. All of the controls are on the right side so it doesn’t take long to learn to use them. I do wish the buttons were a little larger and had a more tactile feel but I also had no problem finding the button I was reaching for. So we have comfort, easy fit, easy controls, good audio quality and long battery life. But unfortunately of all the recent headphones I have tried these were the only ones that I had connection problems with. I had no problem pairing them with my phone but in heavy use in the yard I had music skips and at times even static. In a more passive environment I didn’t encounter any of these problems. I have a very new phone and it has not had this problem with other brands I have tried. I sweat in the Texas heat but these have a IPX5 water resistant rating so they should have handled it well. Maybe it's the set I have but that takes away an otherwise top choice for me. It hits all of the marks except the connection issue is the one thing I didn’t expect and the one critical feature that can’t be overlooked.

Not perfect but competitive with the competition

I was on the hunt for a good wireless earphones to use at work. I tried some very expensive in ear monitors and although the sound was great the wire was not. So I then tired the Jaybird X2. They worked well and I could have stopped there but once the battery ran down I felt I needed to do better. The I tired a set of Platonics. These had a spare battery in the pouch they came with. The sound was just awful. As I took them back it turned out the F5 were on sale for the same price. So that was my next choice. The F5 were a little hard to fit because the control unit would pull down from the right ear. They can fit over the ear but in the office I wanted to pull them out if someone came in to talk to me. The battery life is right at four hours but you can attach the second battery and double the time but also the weight hanging down. The fix for me was to use different size adapters for each ear. A little bigger on the right and the next smaller size on the left. That helped but its the clip on the back of my shirt collar that really fixed the problem. However after two days that cheap clip just fell apart. I had a wireless phone with a headset that also had a similar clip but made much better. I used it and not I have an almost perfect fit. Now the sound if correct and the fit is correct and if I need the extra battery it;s available. Not a perfect combination but I did try found in ear headphones to get here and I will go with them for now. I think with the trend for more wireless headphones the choices will get better but for now these work perfect. Just to bad I had to baby them so much to get the fit right and if I didn't have this extra collar clip they wouldn't have worked for me at all.

There is going to be a lot said of the new Google Home/Assistant. It is fairly good looking and with the color options on the base I think it can fit in most any home. It has one powered speaker and two passive radiators for the audio. The audio quality is just ok and fills a modest size area. The shape is nice and setup was fairly easy. For the price and options to connect to different music services it’s at least a nice casual mono music player. For now at least if you have a Google Chromecast device you can also cast from the Google Home device. Although I couldn’t always get that to work. Sometimes it would play the requested video or music others times it just acted dumb and went quiet. It should at least tell me to ask again or it didn’t understand. You will have to learn to talk to it as it learns to better understand. I do wish it had the option for the start command to be configurable. Saying “Ok Google” or “Hey Google” before it responds gets old quickly. And you have to do that way too much. I do want to give them credit as the Google Home voice itself is very clear and natural.
In one command it can tell me the latest news, travel times, weather and wikipedia type questions. I expect it will get better and more useful. However, I really can’t recommend it as a gift just yet. Buy it for yourself have fun and learn to use it. But give it to wrong person and it probably won’t be very useful. This is the early stages of the IOT, internet of things. The price is fair for a casual music player and to experiment with. There are other inhome device it can control and some people are getting it to even turn on their TVs.

As a long time Android user I have been on this journey along with lots of others. With the Pixel we have a real third option other than Samsung and Apple. This is getting interesting and will be good for all mobile devices and of course their users. From a pure hardware side as compared to the current Samsung S7s and the Apple iPhone 7, the Pixel is competitive but it didn’t really break any new ground. All three are amazing phones and the top end of what you can buy today.
The open box and setup experience is fun and you know right away this is a high end phone. If you're on Verizon, the sim is preinstalled and it is a simple matter of turning on the phone where you can then activate on an existing account or setup a new one. If you're not a Verizon customer you would need to remove the preinstalled sim with the tool provided. It’s easy and the phone should activate on other providers with the correct sim.
The phone is fast, smooth and feels great in the hand. But it’s where Google is taking the user experience that’s the real story here. This is the introduction of advanced learning from the device you have within arms reach most of the time. If you use Google services and your in the market for a high end phone this is it. If you just got an new iPhone you're already at the high end. The price here is also at the high end but not much different than the competition.
The Pixel has the Assistant and like Siri was, this is the real news here. Google Assistant if allowed, can learn the more you use it to be your personal Assistant. If Google’s Android TV, Chromecast, Daydream VR and Google Home Assistant come together the way Google plans, were just another step closer to future. The possibilities Google can bring together to make this happen are very real.
This is the very best of what Android can offer today. We have great hardware, the camera is excellent. The build quality and the display are premium. You get unlimited free storage of your pictures and videos. If you chose the smaller 5.0” display version you're giving up very little so don’t count that out especially for smaller hands. It worked correctly with Android Auto in my car. My only wish is that Google would include support for expandable storage.
I hope Google Assistant can grow quickly over the months to come. And I also hope that Google Assistant becomes widely available on lower cost devices so more users will benefit from it. When Google Assistant becomes even smarter it can access resources to make a new smartphone experience that drives innovation for everyone.

When I first put this vacuum together I was not impressed with the quality. It took just a few minutes to slide the main handle into the base and then slip the upper handle to the lower handle. After that it was ready to use. The instructions were clear and it went together very easy. It came with about a quarter of charge which was enough to push a foot size button on the base and I was using the vacuum.

I started on my wood floor on the downstairs of my house. My first impression was how light the vacuum was. It has a very bright set of led lights on the front that works very well. Without the cord and being so light it didn’t take me long to finish the first floor. I checked the dust container which pulls straight out of the base. You then go to a trash can and there is a small release on the container with a sliding mechanism that pushes your debri out of the container. Inside of the container is a second filter that slides out and according to the manual can be washed. So there are no bags or replaceable filters that could cost later. Slip the few pieces back together and it slips right back into the base. Do it once and its works pretty well.
I then charged the battery overnight. There are four large lights on the battery so it’s easy to tell the charging level is at all times. The wall charger is very small and you can charge the battery in the vacuum or out. Once fully charged I tackled the upstairs which is all carpet. Since there is no height adjustment the going was slower. Still it did a very good job and you do appreciate not having to stop and find a new outlet. Once you start you can forget about the cord and finish without stopping. And your again reminded of the good job for the placement of the led lights. I did the downstair wood floors again and had about half of the battery left. My house is 1,800 square feet. There was no doubt I could do the whole house twice from a fully charged battery.
The vacuum works much better than my first impression. The handle is comfortable and when you collapse the lower handle it is a very small package that is easy to store. It felt good to use and the battery life seem good for the size. It is easy to clean and I even did the stairs where the light weight made that easier than any other vacuum I have used. I would be tempted to get the extended warranty just because it is probably a value at this price level and does give you that small peace of mind if it ever needed a repair. But in my use I never felt like it was cheap or can’t do what I expected. This is a good value and I could get very used to not dragging a cord all over the house.

Robot vacuums. self driving cars, super computers in your pocket. But somethings just are not there yet. If my robot vacuum was as good and versatile as this Rocket Complete Upright Vacuum then I think we would be living in the future. As good as Shark vacuums have become this one again shows a company that just designs products to be used. It really does feels like every design choice here was on purpose and because of that it works very well. It’s light in the hand, has a nice long power cord and does great on carpets and hardwood flooring. It can reach just about anywhere with a great assortment of attachments and is pretty easy to maintain. It just does a very good job of being the only vacuum cleaner you might need. And if you use the wall mount it solves that problem of just putting it back when your done. The lighting on the handle could be a little better but it works well enough. You can spend more just as you can spend less. With the performance of this vacuum cleaner you are getting your money's worth and if it's anything like my older Shark it is going to serve long enough for that mythical robot vacuum of the future.

I can love coffee again

I have a long drive to go a short distance each morning. So I get up early and have a cup of coffee. My older 12 cup was put out of service long ago as it's too much of a hassle to make one cup. So although I love good black coffee in the morning, I have been getting by with instant coffee but not anymore. The Ninja Coffee Bar (CF111) solves all of the problems I had as a coffee drinker.
The coffee maker is 9 ½” W x 8 ½ L x 14 ½ H, so be sure you have the counter space. The controls on the front are dead simple to use. Set the size of the cup, put water in the easy to read level markings on the water container, add the correct coffee from the attached measuring spoons of almost any kind to the lifetime filter, put your cup on the correct base, you hit start and within a few minutes you have a great cup of coffee.
The unit itself is perfect for the modern stainless steel appliance kitchen. Its very easy to clean and making my black coffee is only one way it can save you from stopping on the way to work. It can do Over Ice coffee, Cafe Forte and Specialty varieties along with its built in hot and cold frother. It can use regular size cups, XL cups, travel and XL Multi Server mugs. What makes this different from many of the other Ninja Coffee Bars is your are limited to one cup or container at at time. For me that's’ perfect and since it is so fast I am sure it is perfect for many others too.
Finally the product is packed with one of the simplest guides for using all of the features I have seen. Clear instructions on a very colorful manual is sure to make me try some new ways of having coffee that I just wouldn’t have thought about before. This is a great product that I would recommend for almost any coffee drinker unless your brewing needs are for a full pot.

One is not enough

I really like to have a dock for my mobile phones. I have both Apple and Android phones. One of the great features of my Apple phone is the large number of cases and accessories that are available for it. Both of my phones sit next to the nightstand and get charged overnight. I recently got the Apple Watch because the price has finally started to fall with a new one due out soon. I have muddled along but two things to charge is one thing, three is the breaking point. So the opportunity to try the Belkin Apple Watch Dock came just in time. For all of the accessory manufacturers out there Belkin always seem to deliver a quality product. The packing was great and it works perfect to charge the phone and the watch at the same time. It is a heavy dock which is just what you want. The build quality is first rate. I do have one complaint and that is the size of the power supply. It does need to have a bit of room around it. But if you are plugging into a wall it is fine. On my power strip it had to be placed at the very end. Not a big problem overall. Again Belkin delivers a quality product that looks good works with any case due to its adjustability and should last for years. Now I need the second one for the office.

A Pleasant Surprise

I have often tried to improve the wireless signal in my house. But I have never gotten the success I had hoped for. These new MIMO routers have actually given me hope that I can add a device that makes a real difference. The Linksys MaxStream Range RE7000-AC1900 Wall Plug Extender with MU-MIMO has been a pleasant surprise. The Extender has a few options on how you put it into service. One is as a wireless extender or a wired extender. The extender allows you to use your cell phone and find the best location on your wireless network where you can just plug it into a wall socket and add it to your network. The other option is if you have a wired network connection available you can plug it into both the wired connection and a wall outlet and add it to your network. It actually worked very well. Adding it to your current network is all done on a webpage and is very easy.
The only strange thing I can report is when I look at the bars on my cell phone it might be one bar even if I am within sight of the extender. However everytime I run a test of my connection and speeds they are maxed out for what my internet connection will support. I don’t know if this is unique to MIMO devices or not. My cell phone has a AC wireless chip. But in the end I don’t care if I have one bar as long as I am getting the speeds I expect. I am going to keep this one and just forget about it. That is how is should be.

If You Must

The Acer 8" Iconia Tablet should only be bought if you really can’t spend a bit more. At this price point there really isn’t going to be a good choice. The screen is dull and lifeless but we shouldn’t be surprised by that. Otherwise it’s not a bad looking table. I tried to not like the white case and the white power and volume buttons but they keep the low cost theme going. I will give it credit for having a microSD slot. I put a 64GB card in it and it worked fine. It came with most of the standard Google apps and some Acer branded apps. Unfortunately if you try and run the Acer apps it wants you to create an account with them and I don’t see any easy way to uninstall them. Besides the screen quality which is the single most important part of any tablet the overall build quality is just marginal at best. I will say that if you just looked at the specifications alone from just a few years ago this would be an unbelievable buy. And if it is all you can afford just be careful with it. I didn’t get the feeling it could take much abuse.

You could burn your food with this grill. But it less likely than an outdoor grill. Since it has one temperature you learn how not to to burn your food. There is no flame and since the grill is used inside its probably right next to you as your making the rest of the meal. That helps to keep track of the cooking unlike an outside grill.

It should work. It's just a streaming HDMI device with is a world standard. I don't know about the power supply but it probably works with right adapter for the plug format in that country.

Can I use tasker app on shild?
It is not available on the play store for Android TV but you maybe able to side load it. If you don't know what side loading is than using Tasker might be a bigger challenge. Anyway it can't hurt to try and a little research on the net should answer your question in more detail.

This looks a lot like a console, is it efficient with games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends, or Hearthstone?
You can stream these games directly from your PC if you have a good home network and your PC has a newer Nvidia video card.

Does this device play all android market games, or is it limited to certain types? Specifically Walking War Robots?
There are games in the Google play store that are just for the Android TV. On the Shield Nvidia also has a play store with many older and some new games. Finally you can stream PC games directly to your Shield if you also have an Nvidia video card. So there are many options but except for streaming from the PC don't expect to play the latest AAA titles.

Which is better for me, a surface 2 or 3 tablet, or a 2 in 1 Surface 3?
I have studied so many different options in the Microsoft surface and microsoft surface pro line and am still confused. My main objective is to effortlessly handle powerpoint presentations professionally without having to stand near a computer. I would also like to take family pictures or videos. Lastly, I would like to handle emails, do business research, store files for my small business, and work while I'm on the go on airplanes and in hotels.
I have a regular PC and an old laptop at home with Windows 7 operating system, and I have an IPhone. I own Microsoft Office 365, so I do not have to have a computer that has all the Office programs already installed. I am trying to save money, but I do not want to cut myself short for creating, storing and presenting all my PowerPoint presentations. I may even start making webinars. Please help.

The Surface Pro 3 is probably your better choice. You won't have any issues with it doing any office tasks. The Surface 3 would also work but for a business environment I think the Pro is a better choice. It also has Win 8 pro which can support encryption if you think that might be useful to you. It also has a bigger hard drive option then the Surface 3.

Can I watch Dish anywhere on a Surface 3 128GB
As long as you have a good enough connection and an active account with Dish it should work.

I want to use the surface 3 to work from home. Can I connect dual monitors? If so, how?
Since it has a micro display port I think you could daisy change other display port monitors. I know it does work with my 4K monitor at full resolution but at 30hz.

Can I use 4G on it?
Is it ready for 4G? If not can I do or buy anything so I can use 4G.
I think there will be a 4G version in the future. But you can always get a USB modem or use a separate hotspot device which is what I do. You connect to the hotspot with the wireless networking and it can work on any other device that supports a wireless connection.
