Big and Fast

It is great that there are so many new MIMO Routers out today for us all to chose from. And there seems to be good choices at every price range. As long as you stay with a well known brand name and your doing an upgrade and not just going from one MIMO router to another you are sure to get better performance. The thing is where is it price starts to fall off? Honestly you won’t know until you put it into service. Which brings us to the Linksys Max-Stream EA9500. I think that by every measure of the book this is a nice device and you can’t really go wrong. But wait the price, oh yeah the price.
This is one big router. It doesn’t wall mount, which is too bad because it is perfect for that with the port arrangements like they are, so expect your setup to be on a desk. It has 8 wired Gigabit ports and very fast wireless so you could do worse as a single device on your desk, if you can give up the space. I was able to take a switch out of service because of the number of available ports.
In my wireless testing against my current Nighthawk R700 I don’t think it was faster but then they both top out at my 90 Mbps connection. I have an upstairs office so it was really downstairs that would be a better test. I think it was safe to say the EA9500 is faster in my house but not by much. I got a maybe another bar on my phone and in my speed testing and signal strength testing it did seem more stable. Now if you going to try to stream in 4K then that's just what you need is a solid stable connection. But this is a costly Router and unless you really think you need this performance you should look carefully. Like any wireless router it’s all about location. Having a good location will do more for your signal then just paying more.
Finally on the features front this router seems to have mostly everything in it you can want on the hardware side. Two USB ports for hard drives and did I say 8 wired Gigabit ports. The eight antennas like its competitors give it a serious look. The front panel lighting is a little odd. It shows a boot and connection animation and then stops which is telling you it is connected and ready. Where is my real information, that is a missed opportunity. Another missed opportunity is the interface. But I am picky there. I want all options available. Seems these new routers just want to plug and play which they do well but please give me more real administrator options. Setting up access through the LinksysSmartWiFi website was dead simple so managing my home network from a remote location couldn’t be easier. The manual it comes with hundreds of pages for the four you looking for. I ended up on the support page and found a nugget. This router can be added to an existing home network just by connecting it and turning it on. Connect a lan connection to the WAN port and open its webpage and it is ready to go. No changing anything on your current network. Now I like that and it worked perfectly.
Ok, back to price. If you want to stream 4K today a wire is the only real solution. For anything else this will do it. And maybe 4K too cause it’s about location.

The TV looks great with the very small bezels. I like how the remote turns on my Nvidia Shield and operates it so I don't need to use the tiny remote it comes with. I don't have a 4K receiver yet so I can't comment on the picture in that mode which is important since that is the native screen resolution. But it looks good and so far I am not taking it down. My only regret is had I spent another $100 or $200 I could have gotten a little higher up model. Since its wall mounted I think it would have been worth it. So it works well, looks good and it has feature I didn't expect. For the most part I am happy with my choice. I use the Shield to stream cable with a HomeRun prime. If I had gotten the Sony I wouldn't need the Shield. I would have liked to maybe gone that way because for the same price the Sony had Android TV.

Solid Performance, but not yet there

I really wanted did like the Linksys Max Stream. This Model EA7500 AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabyte Router was probably the easiest router I have ever just put in service. I use the term put in service by meaning I put my normal Netgear #R7000 Nighthawk router off line, plugged in the Max Stream and it was seamless.
That’s seemed too easy so I ran benchmarks from my workstation and Xbox one. You could call it a tie as they both delivered all the speed that my cable internet supports. All network devices were found and my streaming and gaming consoles devices all worked without issue.
So what’s not to like? Well it’s a very new product at the time of this review. The box is clearly saying this is a Belkin made product. I have had many Belkin products over the years. Anything from other routers to simple USB cables. They have all been well made products. But the Netgear has a much more advanced interface that gives me more control and the simple plug and play mode if I wanted to use it.
I do like where these new routers and wireless devices are making setting up wired and wireless networks so easy. This is a good router if you need to replace one and you find it at a competitive price. Otherwise I would give it more time on the market and read more reviews. There are other options that have been on the market. I currently have it in service downstairs and working very well with my Xbox one. I also use it to steam PC games to an Nvidia Shield and I have no complaints.

If you wanting to go 4k on your desktop and you have the room this monitor will server you well. It could use a few things fixed, the stand is just wrong and the HDMI port should be a 2.0. But as a single monitor it works very well. I tried to go with a TV but that seldom works well on a computer. I had a high end Asus 4k but the text was to small. The 40" is the perfect size for a 4k desktop. It is also great for gaming although for serious FPS is might not be the best choice. However if your in the market for a 4k monitor you should consider this one high on your list. It is a true computer monitor so the text is clear, it goes to sleep and it does have serveral connection options. I won't be taking this one back.

Does well against the competition

The Bissell SmartClean Robot Vacuum turned out to be an interesting contrast for what is available in a robot vacuum. My first experience with a robot vacuum was a purchase I made maybe over a year ago. We installed wood floors and I got tired of seeing my wife’s hair on the light color wood. To no fault of hers she just has long black hair. I saw a Neato robot vacuum on sale and thought maybe that was the solution to the problem. The way that vacuum works is very much different than the SmartClean.
Both vacuums have many of the same common features. They will go over most any floor certainly neither had a problem with my wood flooring. They dock and charge on their own. And both can be programmed to run whenever you want. They both support invisible walls and like most devices they each have their own unique way to be programmed but it can also be just as easy to push a button and walk away.
It’s when it comes to actual use that I found the SmartClean to be much easier to manage from day to day. It’s easier to take the dust bin out and clean the filter. I don’t have to move anything out of the way and worry it will get stuck. You had to almost prep the rooms for the Neato to finish without getting hung up on something. It is a lot quieter than I expected so that was also a nice surprise. The SmartClean has options for the type of pattern it uses to move around. So where the Neato pulls away from its dock and starts to scan the room the SmartClean just runs for as long as you let it in either a random pattern or one of the five different pattern choices it gives you. My first thought was clearly the Neato with its room mapping would be much more efficient but actually it doesn’t do any better when it finishes. They both do better than I expected any robot vacuum to do so I am sold on them being a simple way to help keep your house clean.
So it comes down to value and just what you need the vacuum to do for you. There both well built but the Bissell can be found for around one hundred less. I looked for replacement parts for both vacuums and didn’t have any issue finding anything you might need for the Bissell. Of course since the Bissell costs less you can get an extended warranty and run it without worry. I will say that on a carpet floor the Neato might have the edge because it does have more overall suction power. But the SmartClean gets in the corners much better. So if you think you can replace using a larger vacuum with the robot vacuum your chances might be better with the Neato. But if you want a simple robot vacuum that seems to do very well for the value the SmartClean is a very good choice.

I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the extra money on the keyboard but the two are a such perfect fit for each other that its almost a must. In any case its works much better than I expected and does protect the screen. It really is a nice keyboard in use so I am satisfied. I would suspect Micro Soft would sell many more units it if just included the keyboard.

Although this is not a real powerful processor it is a perfect size display for web surfacing and light office work. It is a bit expensive if you get the 4GB/128 GB model like I did. But its totally silent, the screen is excellent and the form factor is perfect for web pages. I was going to get a notebook and for the price and there are many options but to sit on the couch and have a full Windows touch screen is great. Normally I would go Android but there are just times when you need a full Windows OS.

You could burn your food with this grill. But it less likely than an outdoor grill. Since it has one temperature you learn how not to to burn your food. There is no flame and since the grill is used inside its probably right next to you as your making the rest of the meal. That helps to keep track of the cooking unlike an outside grill.

It should work. It's just a streaming HDMI device with is a world standard. I don't know about the power supply but it probably works with right adapter for the plug format in that country.

Can I use tasker app on shild?
It is not available on the play store for Android TV but you maybe able to side load it. If you don't know what side loading is than using Tasker might be a bigger challenge. Anyway it can't hurt to try and a little research on the net should answer your question in more detail.

This looks a lot like a console, is it efficient with games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends, or Hearthstone?
You can stream these games directly from your PC if you have a good home network and your PC has a newer Nvidia video card.

Does this device play all android market games, or is it limited to certain types? Specifically Walking War Robots?
There are games in the Google play store that are just for the Android TV. On the Shield Nvidia also has a play store with many older and some new games. Finally you can stream PC games directly to your Shield if you also have an Nvidia video card. So there are many options but except for streaming from the PC don't expect to play the latest AAA titles.

Which is better for me, a surface 2 or 3 tablet, or a 2 in 1 Surface 3?
I have studied so many different options in the Microsoft surface and microsoft surface pro line and am still confused. My main objective is to effortlessly handle powerpoint presentations professionally without having to stand near a computer. I would also like to take family pictures or videos. Lastly, I would like to handle emails, do business research, store files for my small business, and work while I'm on the go on airplanes and in hotels.
I have a regular PC and an old laptop at home with Windows 7 operating system, and I have an IPhone. I own Microsoft Office 365, so I do not have to have a computer that has all the Office programs already installed. I am trying to save money, but I do not want to cut myself short for creating, storing and presenting all my PowerPoint presentations. I may even start making webinars. Please help.

The Surface Pro 3 is probably your better choice. You won't have any issues with it doing any office tasks. The Surface 3 would also work but for a business environment I think the Pro is a better choice. It also has Win 8 pro which can support encryption if you think that might be useful to you. It also has a bigger hard drive option then the Surface 3.

Can I watch Dish anywhere on a Surface 3 128GB
As long as you have a good enough connection and an active account with Dish it should work.

I want to use the surface 3 to work from home. Can I connect dual monitors? If so, how?
Since it has a micro display port I think you could daisy change other display port monitors. I know it does work with my 4K monitor at full resolution but at 30hz.

Can I use 4G on it?
Is it ready for 4G? If not can I do or buy anything so I can use 4G.
I think there will be a 4G version in the future. But you can always get a USB modem or use a separate hotspot device which is what I do. You connect to the hotspot with the wireless networking and it can work on any other device that supports a wireless connection.
