Outstanding device, just a few small nitpicks
on October 8, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
So close to being a solid 5 rating but just a few small things that may not matter to many, still going to round up to a 5
So let’s start with all the good:
Having previously owned cheap knock of imitations, you immediately out of the box know this device is soooo different.
Smooth, light, elegant looking. It is actually “pretty” enough that it can be on the night stand. As soon as you pick it up it is comfortable in the hand. A simple push of the on button and you go right into a quick start and feel the power of this unit
When it is running, it is near silent. You can barely hear it running even on the high settings, the “triangle” design of the handle works out so much better then the pistol style of others.
Allows you to work easily with both hands and reach just about everywhere. The included attachments are going to cover almost everyone’s needs
It is really cool to pair up with the app, and have it walk you through the session. Giving you feed back on pressure and making sure you are not under doing it and most certainly not OVER doing it. So many pre planned programs for me that is a game changer on this one as well
Now for my small nit picks:
The charging: first great choice on USB-C, awesome. And the cable is included, but…. No plug-in adapter. For myself not that big of a deal as I have a usb-c on my nightstand, but others may not. So they may not be able to charge the unit on their first day with it. For the price of this unit, it should have been included
Two things with the app: as an asap developer this one bugs me: You allow me to paste a complex password in the first field (from my generator) but not in the validation field, when I was creating my account. I know not pick, but this is going to result in people using password123
Second: when using a program, it jumps right to the next part of the body with not even a pause for a second or two for me to shift my leg or foot, and 5ish seconds are already gone
Give me an option to add a few second pause in between
Also if you can add a beep from the device when a phase is over. Sometimes I close my eyes and just need an audio clue
Accessories. I have to take them out of the bag, when putting the unit back on the bag. So everything fits. Yes a minor nit pick
As I said near perfect and if there was an option for 4.75 I would give it
I would recommend this to a friend!

Meet the new Shark Cordless Detect Clean & Empty Auto-Empty System Vacuum. It features an ultra-intelligent Detect performance suite~4 deep-cleaning technologies that detect & react to your home to capture hidden dirt on every surface, corner, edge, and crevice. DirtDetect senses the hidden dirt that hides in your home, and automatically boosts power to pull it in. EdgeDetect senses edges and corners and doubles suction* power for more powerful cleaning* (vs. ECO mode). Floor Detect senses carpets and hard floors around your home, and optimizes your vacuum~s performance based on the floor type. Lastly, LightDetect automatically illuminates dark spaces, so you can easily track down hidden dirt. All four of these technologies combine to increase cleaning up to 50%* when carpet and dirt is detected (*Eco vs. Detect Boost (with both Carpet and Dirt), based on ASTM F608). Plus, the QuadClean Multi-Surface brushroll tackles four cleaning targets: fine dust, pet hair, large debris, and dust along edges. After every clean, Detect Clean & Empty Auto-Empty System brings you the ultimate convenience~it empties on its own. Return it to its base, and it charges and empties automatically, sealing in up to 30 days worth of dust & debris, so you can forget about emptying for up to a month, and leave behind the trips to the trash can after every use. Inside the base, Odor Neutralizer Technology guards against bad odors, for a fresh-smelling home. Change the way you clean with the Shark Cordless Detect Pro Auto-Empty System~the dirt-detecting cordless that empties itself.

Sleek elegant and useful

So right away you may think this is going to be a nightmare to put together. It isn’t. From box to usage in less then 5 minutes.
I love the freestanding aspect of this design. No wall mounts to install. No drilling, and can go just about anywhere you have access to power
Comes with standard accessories you would expect, small brush for overhead and tight spaces. And thin insert for the sofa
The vacuum is a tad louder than others we have used, but not bad. The auto adjusting of power is interesting, not sure how effective it is but it does auto adjust up and down
Its light. Almost anyone will be able to use this vacuum. Good low profiles so I am able to get under the kitchen chairs and some of the cabinetry we have
The light is probably my favorite feature. You can see everything you are running the vacuum over
Now for the auto empty bin. I like the concept, I think it is going to work well, and save a lot of trips to the garbage can. Our first couple usages we can see it empty and just work as designed. So pretty slick
So now we have a nice vacuum that can stay on our top floor and we don’t have to drag the others around

Quiet and Effective
on September 7, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
From a consumer point of view, this is just so simple to setup and use, and get quality results.
Out of the box, you need to take about 1 minute to take the packaging completely off (including the plastic on the filter), and install the Odor plugin. And then plugin and you are on your way.
It is effectively silent on auto mode. You can feel the air moving, but even in the most quiet of rooms you can't hear it run.
In my child's bedroom, it ran for about 24 hours and then got that up to near 100% clean air. My child was a little surprised when they saw the number was much lower to begin with (we were not :) ).
So far a few days in, the allergy sniffles and sneezing have decreased, which was the goal.
The room effectively smells and just feels better when going in there.
The only marginal downside of the unit, is that it is extremely light.
I can see a family with pets or a lot of activity that this unit can easily be knocked over or moved around.
The cord "could" be a little longer, so that it can be placed a little further from an available outlet, without using an extension... but those are extremely minor nit-picks.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Solid machine for gaming, and making games
on September 5, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
So, out of the gate... let me say I would give this 4.5 stars, but that isn't an option.
A modern very powerful laptop, that should serve any user well for several years if not longer.
Let's get right to my few negatives:
1) This is my negative for almost all laptops I have looked at. IT IS NOT USING USB-C FOR CHARGING, and requires a proprietary adapter. Look, seriously. we just need to move on, and all get standardized, so we can use the plethora of small USB-C charging options. As a traveler, carrying this massive charging bricks, is a major pain. And for a student or other, that is tough too. and they are expensive options to buy a 2nd / 3rd one.
2) Heavier than most laptops nowadays. I did find this unit heavier than most I have check out lately. Same size, but this one was just a bit heavier. not crazy, but if this is going in a bag or backpack, could make a difference.
3) Slightly slow boot time. Now, to be fair, we are still talking just 10-15 seconds and the system is up and running, but compared to some other options as of late, that are up in just a few seconds, it is noticeable.
Now to all the good stuff:
1) I LOVE that it is upgradeable. You can upgrade the memory and the storage space, pretty easily. DDR5 memory, easy to upgrade and can take up to 64GB. Storage is PCIe. It will take a little bit of time to upgrade (unless you are just going to format and restart), but super easy to install and upgrade.
2) The keyboard, is responsive. not just a lightweight tap and type, there is some feel to the keys, and that is important to people that type a lot
3) Screen. Big screen, bigger than most lately.. (and probably why it is heavier). So you can get a big space for your development and your game play
4) Strong graphic processor/system, while not the absolute latest (which is nearly impossible to do nowadays), it is very realistic and strong and powerful. the multiple games we tried, worked just fine with no hesitations.
So this laptop is going off to play games and build games (used as a development machine as well).
it has all the standard necessary expansion ports, so no issue there. Liked that it had the option to be wired ethernet.
So other then the relatively few nit-picks, this is a solid machine
I would recommend this to a friend!

Too many things, just not right
on August 14, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
I so wanted to like this item, as it was going to be a perfect fit for a lot of what we needed for.
So right out of the gate: "Portable" in the title and description. It is by definition, but you are not going to be bring this with you many places. This is a stay put appliance, that can be moved around when necessary. It is heavy then you expect, and many people may not be able to move it. No handles, no wheels. The biggest thing that makes it "portable" is that it does not need to be connected to a water source.
For the majority of time, it isn't overly loud... but it isn't like that all the time. When it is doing its normal operations of pumping water to the freeze unit, and then dumping, and running the cooling it is fine for a unit this size. not to bad, you can have it on the counter, no problem. BUT! when it continues to run (which it has too), it makes a lot of noise, and almost pops and sounds like things are snapping at time. when the water is low, or not as full as it needs to be.
Why is that an issue? Because if you hit the button to stop making ice, the ice chamber is kept cold enough, and the ice melts. On my first usage, I had a full bin of ice... awesome.. hit the stop making ice button, left for a few hours, and came back and half the ice had melted. So keeping it on ice mode, was the old way I could keep ice cold and frozen.
So.. next nit pick.. wet/moisture each time I take out the drawer.
yes there is the drip tray, but also should have a tool, as nothing I could do would keep some water from dripping, and always missing the tray. and have to clean up the front of the device.
Next, the scoop. great there is one, but when I try to fill a scoop against the side of the bin, there isn't enough room in the tray to level out the scoop so I don't pour out ice out of the scoop as I am trying to get a full scoop.
And draining and cleaning... oh boy.. got myself soaked, when trying to pull off the drain cap, as while I didn't see any water in the tube ,it was full and under pressure.. not fun.
So now for some of the good (it wasn't all bad)
It did make GOOD ice. The size is great for this type of device, and works great for the Nalgene and glasses, as well is a good size for smoothies.
It is also pretty quick, in under an hour we had a full bin, or near a full bin.
Very easy to fill, if you have a water bottle or something with a good spout that can go into the device, the first pitcher I used was a little wide, but not hard to find something that worked well.
So this was an okay device, just really wanted it to be better.
I could live with most things, but the fact that I had to keep it in Ice MAKING mode, and it didn't stay cold enough that even a few hours most ice would melt, that was the deal breaker.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

An elegant solution for older shades
on August 7, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
So my shades are in perfect condition, and are 20+ years old... And today, these shades would be $1000+ to replace with "smart" ones. So this product fits the need I had, perfectly.
Let's start about physical setup first: If you are comfortable with basic tools, this won't take very long. Just measure 3 times (unless you are really good).. you don't want to make this too tight or too loose, need to get it just right in the sweet spot, before you make the holes in your wall. Once you got it fitted, the physical installation is really easy.
Now let's talk about what I think is the coolest thing they did.. the battery pack. This was 95% well thought out (see below for the other 5%). being able to charge this pack, and bring the battery pack to the unit. Very easy to use. Just clip it in, leave it. Remove, charge, and boom... done. Very easy to use.
Digital Setup:
Okay, so if you really want to make this a "smart" device, you need the Ryse bridge, sold separately. A little added cost, but.. that is really where this gets to make's mark. Side note: Setting up the Ryse bridge was painless, about 4 clicks in the app.
So.. the App: Nit Pick #1: The app needs to be able to supported iOS stored passwords. I like to use complicated passwords that are unique to everything. So, the lack of using the iCloud was disappointing.
Setting up the bridge first, was really easy and simple. Connected to the router, and then in the app it appears, takes about 1 minute to pair it.
Then to setup the opener, was about 1 minute more. very straight forward, was able to rename at it at setup. it walks you through The full open and Full close settings, with just a push of the physical buttons, get it to where you need it, and save. Very simple.
Next was the step that wasn't mentioned in the app, but I knew. To setup Alexa, you need to go into the Alexa app and add the skill. (and then this is where the stored password would have been nice). But Alexa was easy to setup and add to group.
Nit Pick #2: This is listed as a "lock" in Alexa. While it isn't a Lock, it simply does have an open/close setting. The part I didn't like, is that with the scroller bar in Alexa, all the way to the left 0%, mean fully open. The all the way to the right 100%, means fully close... doesn't seem correct to me.
Quiet, easy to use, it has the power to open and close my shades very easy.
Okay, now for the 5% deduction, and the full star loss.
Why in the world in 2023, is this still using Micro-USB? And the bridge as well. Yes, a cable was provided, a short one at that. BUT!!! it is 2023. This should be USB-C all the way, both devices. So yes, maybe not worth a whole start deduction, but I can't do a half or a quarter. USB-C please.

Powerful, Deep, Almost Perfect (4.5 Star)
on July 27, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
This is one of the best portable Bluetooth Speakers I have every owned... Just a couple of nitpicks kept it from having a perfect 5, but a solid solid system.
The speaker is pretty heavy, so that is both good a bad. Good, that it is going to stay where you put it, and where you need it... not going get knocked over by wind or just a simple casual contact with someone. Bad, that you have to account for that while moving it. It is also larger than the picture makes it seem. This is not a tiny speaker by any means.
Volume... oh my, this speaker can really pump the music. Very loud, and still very very clear while doing so. Playing some of my favorite music, you can shake the house or the deck pretty good with this... I don't think most will ever need to have it past 50%, but if you do... get ready for some sound the will be heard around the area.
Easy to setup, as you would imagine. Connect bluetooth and go. I have an iPhone and it promptly asked me to download and setup the companion app, which allowed me to easily setup some of the other light and features of the unit.
I personally am not a big fan of lights for "party" mode on these speakers, it is okay.. but really something I just turn off, and it is really easy to do so. There is one particular light, that is intended to light the stage, but I just find it odd, it is on the opposite side of the speaker that the audio comes out of. I guess the intent was to light the stage for the performers? not sure.. I just keep it off now.
The deep base and audio is great, and you see XBOM logo'd component really pump and bounce as it is rocking. I haven't tried it in a sandy or wet environment, should be okay, but I am curious on if it would impact long term performance.
Easy to charge, easy to power up... the battery I have not been able to drain yet after length use.
So close to being a 5, but just enough little little picks, that I would really give this a 4.5-4.75
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you need it, it is good... but not a must have
on July 14, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
So going into the way back machine, we all used to have dedicated standalone scanners.
But with the advent of phone's and pictures->pdf... more and more people don't find the need to have one of these devices anymore.
Multi-funtion printers, also serve the role, but are often very clunky and that door on top is heavy, and just makes it difficult to use for some projects.
This scanner is great, for the right need and project.
If you want to scan a bunch of photos, you know the ones that are still on printed media... :)
This will work out very well, great.. crisp scanning with a lot of depth.. with allow you to get those physical pictures quickly into digital form. Scan a few at once, and use the software to split them up into individual pictures.
This one is going to be great, to help transfer physical scrapbook that were made 20 years ago, into digital mediums... so we can regenerate them and put them with the books we have been making the last 10 years. With the big scan bed, and light lid, we will be able to position things on this scanner, like none of the other ones... and get much better quality then a camera pictures.
I am not sure about ever using all the button functions on front... As connected to a desktop, the software on the screen handles most of the controls for you..
Overall for a flat bed scanner, it does a very good job for the price.
Now for my nit picks... really I wanted to give this 3.5 stars.
First: it is not quiet, it is pretty loud actually... louder then I expected it to be..
Second: while quick.. for a dedicated scanner that has no other functionality, I expected it to be quicker. it isn't bad, but you are going to really notice if you are doing a lot of documents or scans.
Those combined.. maybe a -.5 star.
My biggest issue, and seriously... The lack of USB-C. While this does come with the cable, the connection to the scanner is micro-usb, and on the other side full USB. It is 2023. My newest laptop has no legacy USB ports. My Mac-book, no legacy USB.. my Mac-Mini, has one.. that is used by my external keyboard.
I was actually stunned that this didn't have USB-C on it. So it took me a while, to find an adapter that wasn't in use, to connect this.
Also, was a little struck that this didn't just connect and work. That you had to download the software, run the installation routine, and then connect. A little old-school style. This will make it a little more less friendly to use around the various computers in the house.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Light, almost too light.. and quick.. Near perfect
on June 27, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
Right out of the box, you knew this was going to be a different Dell.
The 13.4" screen, should give you an indication of the size of this laptop. The screen is edge to edge, we are talking just a millimeter or two, of frame, the rest is all screen surface.
First nit-pick, the screen picked up the slightest of touch of my finger and oils, so have a micro-fiber to keep it clean.
First big plus: it charges with USB-C connection... YES!!! finally, not locked to a proprietary adapter.
Now the down side: There are only two USB-C connections (one on each side). So if you are going to ever need to connect any more then two devices (or one when you have power), you will need a hub.
Plus, it comes with a dongle for a 3.5" headphone if you still need that corded experience, and a USB-C to USB-B adapter, so no need to get those if you need them.
Silent running, make no noise other than audio when you do something to cause audio. The hardware is silent.
A sleek silver look, gives it a great appearance.
Now for my biggest down (and the reason why it is not 5 stars), it is almost too light. and the bottom is too smooth. on my primary work surface and my kitchen counter, the laptop slides when using it.. very very easily So will need to adjust how I use it on those surfaces.
This battery life is really long as all, haven't been able to completely drain it yet.. So this is going to be a great machine while traveling.
Windows 11 fully loaded and all ready to go.. just need to do the standard updates on first load, which can take some time.. .
I would recommend this to a friend!

Slick, Big, Light, and quick
on May 30, 2023
Posted by: Ebonovic
A very powerful, but light laptop for your overall needs. Easily will replace any old desktop you have, and get you on the move and the flexibility you need.
Quick boot up time. Power up to login screen, is just a few seconds away, silent as well. No winding fan or hard drive. Everything is solid state, so runs fast.
Pre installed with Windows 11, but will need a good 20-30 minutes to do all the latest updates, so if you are in a hurry... for that first usage, give it just a little more time.
Full keyboard, with number pad... which is rare these days... so that is good for those that need it, no external number pad necessary.
Small power block, about the size of a deck of cards. Small nit-pick, I wish this had a usb-C power input, so it can easily use some of the fine 3 party power blocks out there.. as a traveler it is easy to forget a power block, and just need more then one.
Screen is big and bright, very easy to see everything... no disappointments there.
Good sound out of the speakers, but also has all the modern connectivity for headsets.
WiFi 6, was getting almost 700mb download speeds, so a solid performer there as well.

Incorrect info. No 3D
By Leroythedog
I was already to buy this TV- seems to be GREAT price!
BUT - IT DOES NOT HAVE 3D. Luckily, this was pointed out by the salesman. He told me that he had even called Samsung to check, and there is a misprint in the specifications,
If you don't want 3D, this would be great, but it doesn't work for me.

Per Samsung's site, it states as 3D Ready.
Which means you just need the other equipment (separate), glasses, Blu-ray player, and material source
Glasses are about $20 each.
