Very cutting edge blend of jazz, prog, and metal... but mostly jazz. Saxophone is the main instrument, but it's run through a variety of effects and guitar pedals to create a new sound. Fascinating record.

Decent moments, but ultimately too familiar

The best two moments come back to back on the last track. The string passage on "The Embracing Circle" is beautiful, and the rocking bit which comes after in "The Pursuit of Truth" is just mean and nasty. The rest of the disc feels all too familiar and recycled. Still the best band in this style, but it feels like only a few new ideas made it through to this record.
