need webcam, no knowledge
I am attending school online and need a webcam that I can use for presentations and interviews.
I have assignments that deal with conducting an interview and submitting to my instructor via the internet.
I have no knowledge of what kind of webcam to get or how to use one.
I am hoping someone will be able to help me purchase a webcam that is very easy to use, that can do the things I need for school and not be expensive ( I am on a very limited budget but can if need be extend within reason for the right product)
There are many types available to accomplish this task. Generally, you get what you pay for when it comes to computer peripherals. So I try and pay a bit more for them knowing they can be transferred to another newer computer in the future when I upgrade, Laptop computers/pads usually have webcams built in to them already. If you have a desktop computer, make sure you have an available USB port. What you want is something that has reasonable resolution for things like SKYPE and other video chat programs. I tend to get the ones rated at 1080p (high resolution) for this. Remember - the ability to use this is also tied to how fast your internet connection is, slow connections mean you need to turn down the X/Y resolution of the camera so it will update reasonably without a lot of jittery movement. I like the Logitech - HD Webcam C615 - it's on sale for $46 bucks I believe. It's a decent webcam, and I get a little expensive, but a good investment for a quality product. This has 8 megapixel still pictures and a 30 frames per second chat - so it is decent. If your line is slower you can always change the resolution of the camera to match the slower speeds. It also comes with some utilities for face tracking and putting pictures in place of your face, with moving mouths and eyes on them - I know, a little creepy. It has auto light level as well. In the end, if you are doing video interviews or preparing videos to publish - this is not a bad one to use. Worse comes to worse, if it does not have a high enough resolution (which I doubt), take it back and get a higher end one.
