Great 4K big screen

Finally moving out of our apartment & into our first home wifey & I decided it was time for a big screen in the living room. Wanted to go 65" but the logistics of the corner mount we decided on restricted me to the 60" models of which there are very few (why most manufacturers only do 55 & 65 i don't understand). After doing some research I narrowed it down to this LG model & the Samsung KS8000. In the end, the difference maker for us was that the Samsung got horrendous reviews in one area - view from an angle. Meanwhile, the LG got stellar writeups on this. Being that we corner mounted the TV, this made it a no-brainer.
3 months in we really love the picture on this TV, and the sound is good enough for us that no soundbar was needed. Setup was super easy once our Fios was installed, had her connected to the wifi and running perfectly within minutes. The magic remote is also a fantastic feature, very intuitive and the pointer functionality makes it's use a breeze.
The only complaint we have honestly is the app availability. LG's Web OS was touted as being one of the best out there & having lots of apps available - sadly, it doesn't. I love that Netflix is built right in, but the lack of HBO Go, WWE Network, Showtime On Demand etc made it that we had to pick up another fire stick to use with it - not a dealbreaker, just something that in a higher end model i think needs to be addressed.
Apps to one side you really can't go wrong with this 4K unit from LG.

very noisy but it worked...for just under a year

Purchased this LG micro after reading good reviews on the BB website - took it home, set it up and while noisy it worked fine - until it reached the ripe old age of 11 months. Suddenly one day it stopped heating things up. It powers on, the carousel spins, etc, but when "finished" the food you put in is the same temperature that it was when you started. Called LG "customer service" and got a woman in God knows what country who walked me through resetting it, changing outlets, attempting to heat up a cup of water - nothing worked. So I was given a case number and told I'd hear back about receiving a refund. That was a month ago and still nothing. Done with LG after this awful experience.

shield is too big

bought this cable to use in my car with my iphone 5s...it does the job, but unfortunately the shield is larger than the opening my mophie case has so the bottom half has to be removed any time i want to use it...not a bad product, just make sure it'll fit your device and/or case so you can avoid this nuisance

great @ home - lousy @ the gym

How Often Used:3-5 times a week
After some research I narrowed my hunt for bluetooth earbuds down to the jaybird bluebuds x and these ones from plantronics. Price won out and so the backbeat go 2 came home with me. At first, I thought they were stellar. When used around the house it was everything I could have hoped for and more. After pairing to my iPad I was able to leave it in my bedroom and walk around other parts of the house still listening to the show I had on with no sound interruptions at all. Sound quality was also excellent. Unfortunately, once I took them to the gym - the main reason I bought them - it was the end of the line for these earbuds. They did not like to stay in at all, and yes I tried all the different size pads. They would fall out pretty frequently, many times simply because I turned my head & the wire snagged on the back of my neck. This became way too much of a nuisance and so I had to bring them back. Overall, 5 stars if you're using them in the house, car etc. but if you plan to exercise with them you'll be sorely disappointed.

What's great about it: great sound & range, easy to setup & use
What's not so great: falls out continually at the gym

now this is a machine!
on April 25, 2014

This past week I have been actively shopping for a new laptop and experienced a lesson in the old adage of you get what you pay for - started out with the toshiba model c55t-a5103 which was on sale Easter Sunday at what appeared to be a steal of a price - sadly, it was too good to be true as this i3 system was way too sluggish for my needs, having to wait for anything to happen just 2 days out of the box is an epic fail in my book. After this debacle I decided to do a little less penny pinching and go for something more powerful. Enter the p55t-a5116: a little more than I wanted to spend, yes, but all the performance I could have possibly asked for and then some. The jump to an i5 processor is really night and day compared to the i3. Add to that the higher resolution screen, bluetooth, harmon kardon sound, and all the other bells & whistles this baby comes with and it's practically a home run. I can't wait to see what she'll do once i bump the RAM up to 16GB.
My only beef with this machine is the hidden battery - you won't find the traditional pop & swap battery here, it's inside the case. Hopefully I won't need to find out what's involved for a replacement for a long time.
Bottom line: if you can get over the nuisance that is Windows 8, you'll really like what this laptop has to offer.

maybe for entry level users...not for me

At $419 on Easter Sunday this Toshiba laptop seemed to be too good to be true. Sadly, for me it was. Don't get me wrong, I believe that for casual users simply looking to check their e-mail, type a letter etc. this would be a terrific purchase, but for anything heavier you should seriously consider a more powerful machine, or at the very least a memory upgrade. Running just a few programs I found the memory and HDD running at 90%+ of their output capacity when I opened up task manager - sorry, but a machine that's 2 days out of the box should not be sluggish whatsoever. Returned & upgraded to the p55t-a116 which I am officially in love with - more $$, but well worth it for those demanding performance.

Expand your DVR storage so you can record more of your favorite TV shows. Or, transfer and store videos from your compatible camcorder to free up space for more recording. Connect the drive to a game console, Blu-ray Disc player or media player, like one from the WD TV family, to smoothly stream video to your big screen TV. It's the perfect solution for your video storage and playback needs.

If you are a Cablevision subscriber with the SA 8300HD DVR be sure to read this before you try to install the DVR expander drive using Cablevision's instructions...quite frankly, they're backwards...Cablevision's instructions on their website tell you to unplug everything, connect the sata cable between the drive & the DVR, power on the drive & then the DVR box...tried this 3 times & nothing happened
In doing a little research online I stumbled across another reviewer who said that the drive worked perfectly for her once she did the exact opposite - powered on the DVR first and THEN power on the drive with the sata cable already connected...i did this and within 5 minutes the drive was formatted & my used space was down from 100% to just 13%
everything runs smoothly & recording has not been an issue - hopefully it'll stay that way
What's great about it: quick easy setup - if you disregard cablevision instructions
What's not so great: nothing

update - read below
September 24, 2010
I began having a few issues with the dvr expander after posting this review - all of a sudden when I would turn on my DVR after it was in low power for a few hours the hard drive wouldn't be recognized - I had to reboot both in order for it to start working properly again. I read a few reviews online which said that people had this same issue & were able to resolve it by replacing the included sata cable with a third party one. I did this, problem solved.
so basically my only complaint is the lousy sata cable - spend the $10 or so for a replacement one & you'll do just fine with this device.
