I did a lot of research, I was on a 1000 ish budget and by beginning of 2017 there were several options with basically the same hardware. Acer Vx15, lenovo omen, an ROG,, an MSI etc. I went dell because I had another dell that has worked very good for the last 7 years, so why not. I wanted to play on the GO, mostly WoW so I dont need much hardware. This is a good computer with great specs for the buck.
Now I wouldn't call this laptop "for gamers". And it is my friends that a laptop is a laptop no matter what you use it for. Specially for gaming I don't care about fancy lights or audio, and given my budget I dont expect an IPS, 4k, or much less a G-sync screen. what I would expect at least, over the given hardware to call it a "gamer laptop", is a Keyboard that doesn't ghost with simple combinations WASD QE or stuff like that.
Other than that I will really recommend this product to whoever is going to use it for productivity and is into weird stuff like VBA programming, or any kind of programming for that matter, some CAD design, or any other number crushing application. not a bad laptop, just not a gaming laptop
