Great phone with good camera and removable battery

I bought this a few weeks ago and and wanted to wait a little bit before posting my review. I am coming from a ATT S5 Active. It was running out of memory because many apps will not let you move them to the SD card. I was also disappointed that it was unlikely to get an upgrade to Marshmallow so I wanted an unlocked phone. People said that LG is very quick in getting out updates. Even though I still have 6 months on the contract, I needed more memory and 32gb seems enough internal memory for me with the microSD card for extra files/apps that can be moved to the SD card. I like the replaceable battery which the Samsung S7 did not have. The S7 has slightly better pictures in low light, but in daylight both do well and I have two real cameras that do better in low light. The wide angle lens will also come in useful. I am glad that my phone did not have the backlight bleed issue of some early T Mobile G5s. The processor is super fast. The battery life seems to be better than reviews I saw online. I use Greenify to decrease battery usage by background apps. Streaming online video for 30 minutes used about 7% battery life for an estimate of about about 6.5 hours to drain the battery from 100% down to 9%. This is without any other apps running in the background. Looking at reviews online and compared to my S5 Active, the AMOLED seems brighter, but the IPS screen is still bright enough for me. Even though it is carrier unlocked, the bootloader is locked. I just hope that there will eventually be a way to unlock it similar to the T Mobile and European versions. I am sure I would have liked the S7 also, but I feel more assured that when the battery starts to get weak in 2 years or so, I can just replace the battery.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don not buy this phone!
By lgjoke
Don't buy this phone! I had my G5 for 2 days then it would not turn on. I took it to Best Buy where the phone was purchased through AT&T, and they said they could not replace the phone as it would not turn on. They advised me to contact LG warranty to address this issue. I send my Phone in for warranty and got it back 3 weeks later. On first inspection of the phone the SIM card tray was missing. After I called LG, I said they screwed up and they replied "the technician discarded your Sim Card tray when doing repair". After over a week of call and begging they finally agreed to send me a replacement tray for the SIM. Once it arrived, I went to put the SIM card and tray into the phone and noticed that the technician had damaged the phone. The case around the screen had been pried (possibly to remove screen) and there was now a gap between the screen and the case was bent with a scratch on a brand new phone. The phone was not like this when I sent it. So I went ahead and put battery in and tried to fire up the phone. The phone would not turn on..... What a comedy of errors. Again I had to return a 2 day old non-working phone for a second time. In total I have spend over 3 hours on the phone on hold with LG and made 2x trips to Best Buy (approx 2 hours). To be honest LG warranty staff are in an overseas call center, cannot understand basic English and completely wasted my time and gave me the run around. To make matters worse, they cannot repair and now cannot replace a lemon of a phone that they damaged and returned in an un-working state. 8 weeks now and counting without a phone I purchased outright. Bottom line, this company and their customer service is a joke!

Review should be with the ATT version
June 5, 2016
This review should be placed with the LG G5 ATT phone.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-g5-with-32gb-memory-cell-phone-titan-at-t/5026700.p?id=bb5026700&skuId=5026700
The unlocked phones and carrier phones have different software as the carriers tweak the operating systems for their own purposes. I support this review should be posted as it is helpful, but the review should be placed with the correct product so as not to bias the reviews for this product, which is the unlocked version.

I was trying to add to my prior review, but could not find a way to do it so I am adding this comment instead. I have found the wide angle camera to be more useful than I thought it would be. I first thought I would use it for group photos at restaurants where the room is often to cramp to fit everyone. However, I recently went to visit the Boston Harbor Lighthouse and it was very useful. On the boat ride it was hard to fit in everyone and the background view of the harbor because we had seats at the end of the bench and the wide angle camera was very useful. In the lighthouse, there is only two feet or so between the window and the large second order glass Fresnel lens. My micro four thirds camera had no chance of including the entire lens. The G5 wide angle lens just about included the entire Fresnel lens with only a tiny bit of the edges cut off. However, I was happy enough to get almost the entire Fresnel lens. Just as people say the best camera is the one you have on you when comparing the cellphone in your pocket to the larger camera at home, I feel you can take it one step further and say the best camera is the one you have on you and can fit the entire scene.
One thing I did not like is the distortion of the wide angle lens, but I found an app called SKRWT which can fix the distortion on the cell phone without having to down load it to a PC with Photoshop. It is not fine tuned to the G5 lens, but it is acceptable for general use. It would be better if LG added and option to automatically correct and crop the wide lens pictures and place a red outline on the screen so you would know what parts will be cut off after the distortion is fixed and cropped.
I am still enjoying my G5 and highly recommend it.

This is another update. I cannot add to my previous review, so I have to add another comment. I just went to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. The wifi connection had problems but the panorama view on the camera is impressive.
On the downside, the hotel splash page to accept the wifi connection did not come up like it should. I had to try several browsers to log in to a website and after several times, the splash page would come up, but after accepting the terms, the connection would cut out a few minutes later. iPads, iPhones, Galaxy S6, and other devices easily connected, but the LG G5 did not. This was at Embassy Suites which has ATT wifi and I have ATT service and no one else did, so it was ironic. Going to the Marriott at a restaurant, the LG G5 connected easily with the splash page and stayed connected. I do not know if this is a problem with the G5 or Marshmallow. Luckily my laptop had no problems connecting.
On the upside, I used the panorama view on a river and noticed that the waves were not blurred and were sharp. Taking a panorama view of Niagara Falls with the Maid of the Mist moving along the river showed a normal appearing boat rather than a blurred or stretched out boat. I tested this out by having waving their hands up and down like a maniac while I did a panorama shot, and it showed person with sharp looking arms in the up position. I am impressed by the processing which can figure out if something is moving, it should process it only once. I have not yet tested it with someone moving quickly from side to side, but I may try that next. Comparing the panorama view using the 16 megapixel lens and a still picture using the 8 megapixel wide angle lens, the Maid of the Mist boat appeared sharper. I assume it is because there is less processing. So the wide angle lens is better than panorama if it fits the entire scene. The wide angle lens was able to fit both the American and Canadian falls in one shot, but not a bridge to the left of the American falls which is why I used the panorama.
