I bought this phone because my daughter broke two previous iPhones. I loved everything about it except it wasn't unlocked to AT&T as advertised.
I would definitely consider purchasing this phone or another SE version (if Apple manufactures a contemporary model) as a primary phone for my children, instead of a revolving payment of $20-$30 for 30 months to AT&T for the latest iPhone or Samsung model.
