Great monitor at a great price.

I recently replaced 2 LG monitors with two Acers. Both LG monitors failed within weeks of each other. They were approximately the same age, about 2 years, and were in constant use. The failure modes were identical and it turned out thru web research that these LG monitors are practically guaranteed to fail over time. That is why I decided to go with another manufacturer and settled on Acer. The price attracted me first; however, when I compared the display to others on the shelf the Acer model impressed me with its brightness, definition, and contrast. Additionally the monitor is a lot lighter and thinner than the LG model (both are 23" displays) mainly because the Acer has an external power brick. The Acer has a positive click on/ off switch as opposed to the touch sensitive switch on the LG which would drive me mad since the LG would shut off with the barest brush of the switch pad. The stand on the Acer allows the display to be tilted back about 20 degrees from normal whereas the LG didn't tilt at all. I don't buy equipment based on what's cheapest but base my purchase on reviews, physical appearance, and performance. The Acer model met all my criteria for purchase. I highly recommend this display for professional and home users alike.

We bought the Acer 19" monitor and found it too small and now we want to purchase the 23" monitor. How many inches wide is the unit? Our desk alcove has a 21" opening. Margaret

The Acer 23" monitor is 1/8" shy of 21" so it will be a snug fit. Also it is 15.5" tall as measured from the base of the stand to the top
