will this tv work with Direct TV without needing a box from DTV and will it run the Amazon video prime app?
There are a couple of TVs that are now considered DTV compatible (currently have the genie with DTV). Also, is this Samsung TV able to use the Amazon Prime Video app directly rather than hooking a comuter to it?
yes the 900 series will run my direct TV without and additional box I have not tried the Amazon prime app. but it should run it.

does this TV put out an optical audio signal when fed a cable box HDMI input?
need an optical audio out to feed a sonos sound bar
I have the 900 series which does have and optical out on the control box
