Create a fast home network with this Linksys USB adapter. Access to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands lets you gain more coverage than a standard single-band USB adapter, and connections are fast and secure. This Linksys USB adapter provides a secure Wi-Fi connection when you use it with a Windows-based notebook.

Will this actually make an existing laptop connection faster? I'm getting a MU-MIMO AC router. My laptop can already connect to the internet, but doesn't have MU-MIMO I don't think. It's a Samsung series 5. Do I need this?

No but you can upgrade the wifi card inside your laptop very easy to do

Can this be used with a Samsung tv with a Ethernet port in the back of the tv

No. your to tv should have wifi but if you have an old samsung tv with ethernet just use a Wifi to Ethernet Adapter. BUT most Samsung tv's have both ethernet and wifi check your network settings on your tv first. this is what you need (IOGEAR Ethernet-2-WiFi Universal Wireless Adapter, GWU637)

Will this allow me to run my smart tv off of my tablet hot spot

No. To do that turn on hotspot on your tablet then go to your tv, select settings then network you will see your tablet's name choose that. Your tablet will give you a password type that Password in on your tv and it will connect. (connecting firestick .apple tv or roku to your tablet works the same way except use the network settings on the streaming device and not the tv )
