Pricey, but maybe the best Harmony EVER

Verified Purchase:Yes
I've owned various Harmony Remotes basically since they were introduced. Some have been simple, but affordable and effective. Others have been really very good, but with room for improvement. (Harmony 688) And still others could have approached perfection, but were foiled by glaring faults. (Harmony 900)
Frankly, I was so disappointed in the the reliability of the Harmony 900 that I was hesitant to buy this one. I also thought this one would be too small and would rely too much on the touch screen. But, between a trade-in deal and a sale, I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did.
The setup for this new generation of remotes is light years simpler than in the past, which is a great thing for most consumers. Logitech also seems to have finally found the right balance between discrete buttons (which are a must for touch-only, no-look, use) and the touch screen (for all the less frequently used functions). The option to use your tablet or smart phone as a remote is also, surprisingly, handy. And, as it turns out, the size is actually quite good.
Oh, and thankfully, the reliability has been basically perfect, once fully setup and updated.
The only downside I have noted is (maybe) the battery life, but it will still last for most of a week without recharging. And, simply dropping it in the charger at the end of the day avoids any issues completely. (Plus, it helps the remote keep its firmware up-to-date.)
All that said, I still feel that it is probably more expensive than it should be. But, thankfully, sales are pretty frequent and can increase it's affordability significantly.

Will this remote control my NUC?

My old Harmony 628 will not. Will this version?
If you are referring to the an Intel NUC, I believe it should. There are a number of people on the Harmony forums that appear to be using them, although you may have to experiment with your configuration a bit to get it just right, and it seems some NUC versions work better than others.

What size are the rechargeable batteries? (AA, AAA, etc.)

The remote uses a proprietary lithium-ion pack, similar to what you would find inside a smart phone. It's normal lifespan should be for a number of years, again much like a typical cell phone (and probably better, since it won't have to deal with hot cars and warm pockets). However, it is user replaceable, requiring only a small philips head screwdriver, like one used for eyeglasses.

Will this product work with z-wave devices or would I have to purchase an additional item to be able to control my z-wave items?

No, it will not control Z-Wave devices out of the box. You would need to add a Harmony Home Hub Extender to your setup, which offers both ZigBee and Z-Wave compatibility.

Bluetooth control?

Does the Elite issue Bluetooth commands? Newer devices (Samsung TVs, Amazon FireTv, etc) use Bluetooth remote controls instead of (or in combination with) IR & IP (wifi) commands.
Yes, it supports Bluetooth interfaces and supports common devices like the AppleTV, Sony PlayStations, and Nintendo Wii consoles.

Does this remote work with LG Smart TV

Can I replace the LG Smart TV Remote and use the Logitech Harmony Elite to perform all of the same functions as the LGremote?
Generally speaking, it should. It can be programmed to mimic any function the OEM remote performs, as long as it uses an IR or Bluetooth interface. The one exception will be voice control, which I believe some of the LG remotes offer as functions built into the remote.
