Is this WD500 Mainstream SATA HDD compatible with Dell Inspiron N5050?
Dell laptop HDD is dying 2 months post warranty. They won't replace it but with full cost. So, I Need to replace it and restore one of several backup types onto it from window system image to Dell local backup app....all from USB External HDD.
Quick question: If the new disk is empty, how can I get laptop to see the external USB and restore image?? Thank you!!
You would try booting up with a Windows installation disk that matches the windows installed on the computer, and if you used Windows to make a system backup image on your external HDD, you could restore that image by choosing "Repair this computer" from the first installation screen that comes up, and follow the option to restore from system backup.
If you used a 3rd-party backup and restore software, you may have to install Windows first, then install the 3rd-party backup and restore software, then restore the files on your external HDD.
Hope this helps!
