had to upgrade my power supply due to a new graphics card requiring a larger power supply. This one was a perfect fit for the OEM power supply. Suggestion for easy replacement: do NOT disconnect existing cables from original power supply right away. Instead, remove it from the case, move to the side. Install the new power supply in the case. Then one by one, take off the current power supply cables from the peripherals (hard drive, mother board, CD-ROM, etc.), and replace them with the exact same power cord from the new power supply. There are lots of options on the cables, and it's easy to confuse them. Make sure you know how to identify the #1 pin to prevent you from installing the cable backwards. Also, make sure the power cables are pushed all the way on. If you get an error message on boot-up, it's probably because a cable isn't seated fully.

My son downloaded a game from Steam but wasn't able to run because his PC connection is wireless. I already had a graphics card with 2GB of RAM but even that wasn't enough. This one improved the performance, but not to peak level. However, it seemed adequate enough. Also, be forewarned...it's the size of two boards, even though it only needs one 16-bit expansion slot. But make sure you have enough room to the right to fit the entire board in. And it also requires a minimum 500 watt power supply.

installed this power supply in my hp pavilion - now i get "boot failure"

the power supply in my hp pavilion desktop failed & i replaced it with this dynex 520 w ps. the ps works great, but now my computer won't boot up - windows won't start & i get a 'boot failure' message. what did i do wrong?
Most likely...the power cable to the HD is either installed backwards or not seated all the way. Make sure you have it installed correctly. I suggest you unplug the HD power cord (of course, disconnect the power supply altogether from the wall first), and re-seat it. Other possibility is that the motherboard power supply cable isn't seated all the way. Check both of those. Good luck!
