I spent a significant amount of time researching dishwasher models to replace the 6 year old Samsung that was in our house when we purchased it but was working very poorly.
I decided on the KitchenAid kdte254ess based on the reviews and trade-off of cost versus performance/features.
It has been 3 weeks since install and I have been very pleased with the dishwasher. It is extremely quiet, does an excellent job cleaning the dishes and I have been surprised at how well it dries the dishes given a few of the reviews that indicated drying problems.
We did remove the 3rd rack from our dishwasher since we have tall plates on the lower rack and tall glasses on the 2nd rack that prevent use of the 3rd rack but I expected that would be the case when we purchased it. If we ever replace our large plates with something smaller I can reconfigure the racks and use the 3rd.
The one surprise is that depending on the options I select for a cycle, it can take up to 4 hours to finish. While I don't find that a problem for our household it does seem excessive.
I can't comment on long term performance since it has only been 3 weeks, but I am very pleased with this purchase so far.
