I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. I was confident of the quality as another family member has one. She cannot turn the volume up louder than 3 clicks because it becomes staticky with poor sound quality. It is probably not a common malfunction, but by the time she told me of the malfunction we were past the return policy date, as I bought it well before christmas.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
