Great story! Terrific acting! If you ever wanted to see Tom Cruise die gruesomely many, many, many times; this is your big chance! Similar to Bill Murray's character in GROUNDHOG DAY except, in addition to being a snarky so-and-so, Cruise's soldier is a weasel and a coward. Unfortunately, you also have to witness Emily Blunt's heroic alien killer die a few times. This is absolutely a demo-quality Blu-Ray that will bring out the best in any system. Image aspect ratio is 2.40:1 and sound is DTS-HD Master 5.1

I have followed the STAR WARS phenomenon since reading the 1976 paperback that preceded the release of A NEW HOPE and I have seen every film during its theatrical run. Because I am a true original fan it is impossible to be objective about the non-Lucas screenplays but it seems to me that ROGUE ONE fits very well into the original narrative without falling into (IMHO) an overly nostalgic "homage" like THE FORCE AWAKENS. The 100% digital recreations of Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing are particularly impressive. My only real gripe is with the constant, mind numbing action sequences (akin to MAD MAX FURY ROAD) that seem to me to be more fatiguing than exciting but this may be due to the very active surround channels and massive amount of LFE produced by my home theater. That said; the DTS-HD 7.1 sound is crisp and clear with very legible dialog. The PRISTINE widescreen image is rendered in approximately 2.40:1 aspect ratio. There are many dark scenes (maybe too many?) so displays with inferior and/or improperly calibrated black levels may appear a bit murky at times.

This well acted story is centered on interesting-but-weird, strong-but-complicated women but it adds an element of mystery-thriller with a twist. It's not quite "Hitchcockian" but nevertheless makes for a couple of entertaining hours.
The 1.85:1 blu-ray image is clean & sharp with somewhat muted colors. DTS:X audio is solid but unremarkable.

I loved everything about this movie the first time I saw it on Laserdisc. I saw it primarily because I really liked Hanks in Splash and he was even better in this one. The good-looking supporting cast is first rate, it is my favorite Penny Marshall movie and production values are imperfect but very good. The "Extended" version adds 26 minutes of mainly Susan and Billy's character development. It displays in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and the best option for sound is DTS-HD Master.

Comparable in many ways to "Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons": good cast (especially Hanks), good direction by Howard, great production values, beautiful locations and a interesting story that is convoluted and a bit silly at times. Great cast and visually stunning at times (except obvious occasional CGI and green screen effects). This story begins at a point near the end of the (superior) "Greystoke" tale, only offers brief flashbacks to establish Tarzan's origins and retreads a tired old exploitation narrative. I liked Skarsgard's portrayal of Tarzan but he looked a bit more Viking than British, Waltz makes a very good (but two-dimensional) villain, Jackson is pitch-perfect as comic relief and Robbie plays a modern, tough, wonderfully liberated woman .

I lived in Los Angeles / Hollywood during the 1970s and this movie is an authentic trip down memory lane. It is populated with many "Tarentino-esque" characters and is driven by Shane Black's funny, interesting and sexy story. The entire cast acted their butts off but I was especially impressed with Angourie Rice as Gosling's snarky 15-going-on-30 daughter.
