What kind of RAM do I need for my Gateway?
I have a 6 year-old Gateway with Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Pentium 4, 2.40GHz and 504MB of RAM. What card can I get to increase the RAM and thus increase the performance of my computer.
Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered with the information provided. The PC or motherboard model number needs to be known. Chances are such an old PC uses DDR2 modules, but again, this isn't certain.
Alternatively, the Gateway's case should be easy to open; if you do so, you will see slots where the current RAM resides on the main motherboard. Usually, the type of RAM necessary will be printed on the board, next to the slots.
