This is a great machine, full PC, great processor, 8 GB of RAM and plenty of storage. It is fast. W8.1 runs smoothly on it.
The only downside is the thickness and the extra weight; but I needed the memory that nobody else can provide in a tablet.

The thinnest iPad ever is also the most capable. It's loaded with advanced technologies, including the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

I guess I misunderstood the purpose of this device. It's basically an hard drive.
It is the old model so doesn't give you access to Netflix in 4k. From the Sony store you can only purchase 4k movies for 30$ each. Rental is not an option. So after spending $5.000 for a 4k TV you are forced to purchase a movie without knowing if you like it enough to keep it.

The surface 2 is basically the same machine of the surface 3. In fact you can buy the same combination of processor and RAM. The difference thought is huge. Surface 3 is the perfecting of a great idea. It has a 12'' screen, it's lighter, it's way thinner, or has an improved pen, an improved charger connection, a perfect keyboard, better speakers, perfect stand....
You cannot make phone calls, these are not phones but full PC's without a modem. Imagine what you could do if your iPad was as powerful as you desktop PC, but with a 12'' screen? Buy a surface 3 to find out.

Windows 7 Look
Does this model have the capability for screen to look like Windows 7?
Yes it does but... Let me say that I read and hear many strange and hard to understand critics to W.8; it still is the same OS of W7 with many improvements. I would love to be able to work with W8 instead od W7. Sometimes I think competitors spend a lot of money to influence the public opinion. You can choose the "touch" interface or the traditional desktop with the click of your mouse or with a touch; you can set up your PC to start with the desktop view or the touch view. The only think you may miss is the start button with the pop up list. They are taking care of this with the new release of W10 that will be free to upgrade to. There are amazing features like the "project" your screen that allows to mirror your device with any miracast enabled TV, AV Amplifier and go where Apple could go yet with Airplay. I already purchase Surface 3 that is the perfect evolution of this full PC; thinner, lighter, larger screen. This is the future.
