This Pioneer BDR-XD05S external drive allows you to archive up to 128GB of data on BD-R QL media and up to 100GB of data on BD-R TL media, plus supports DVD and CD formats, so you can burn your favorite movies and music to discs.
This device is easy plug and play. There is no software for video playback that comes with it, hence the price. Any Windows operating systems newer than Windows 7 will not have any unless yours came with an upgraded software bundle. If you have a mac, it is automatically included in the operating system. I use Cyberlink Power DVD products because they are such excellent software, I don't mind paying for them, but there are free products out there for the money conscious. I have never had a bad burn with this burner, and I have burned hundreds of items. This is the second one I've owed, as I accidentally dropped the first one on concrete (after dropping it on carpet dozens of times) and the impact was finally more than it could take (I actually shattered the red laser lens, though the blue laser was still working). It was such a good unit that I had no qualms buying a second. Obviously, I think this is a good product.
