Intensify your game audio with this Logitech G430 981-000536 over-the-ear headset that features Dolby 7.1 surround to ensure an immersive soundscape. The noise-cancelling boom mic enables clear communication with your teammates.
The Logitech G430 headset is a fantastic choice. Amazing sound, a flexible microphone boom that can be moved out of the way, comfortable to wear, sturdy construction and all while remaining under $100.
The only thing that I don't like is that the headset does not cancel out all other external sound. While this may not matter to some people, those who want the experience of complete immersion, external sound is a problem. That being said external sounds are dampened and muffled quite considerably. You will be hard pressed to find better quality sound output even in much more expensive headsets. The G430 delivers rich 7.1 simulated surround sound, you will hear sounds as if they are in front of you, behind you, to the either side, above you, below you, and any combination. For example you will hear the helicopter coming in from the top right front, cries for help from the front bottom left and a rifle being fired behind you while bullets whiz past your head...ALL AT THE SAME TIME! Of course to experience that sort of sound your media has to provide 7.1 channel sound.
The G430 headset is made of durable plastic, comfortably padded over-ear speakers and headband. The headband itself also has wide metal extenders that provide a beefy sense of quality. One of the best features of the G430 is often overlooked, the wire has the typical rubber coating of any wired headset that can separate due to over extension causing a short in sound reception or delivery through the microphone. Logitech takes durability a step further by sheathing the wire in a woven/braided fabric cover that minimizes if not prevents the stretching of the wire, virtually eliminating the wire short out problem that most other wired headsets have. Speaking of wire the G430 has a very long cord with in-line volume control as well as mute switch for the microphone. Also the G430 can be used either with the dual audio in/out jacks or with the provided USB jack adapter. I prefer the audio jacks so that I have one less peripheral taking up a USB port.
I paid $77.99 plus tax for my Logitech G430 headset which is a stunningly low price for the quality. I've seen and used far inferior headsets that were more expensive and none that are less expensive come close to the quality of the Logitech G430. Also it comes with a limited TWO YEAR warranty, I personally purchased the 2 year comprehensive Geek Squad warranty just for my own peace of mind. Even with the extra warranty my total was less than $100 you just can't beat that.
Would I recommend this product to a friend? All day, everyday. If you're looking for a quality headset that delivers amazing sound for less than $100 you can't go wrong with the Logitech G430. If your budget is between $50 - $100 get the Logitech G430, most wired gaming headsets start at around $50 and go up from there. Why not pay a little more for the G430 and get the sound quality you're looking for? Why pay more and get disappointed?
