After reviewing and comparing several high quality speakers, namely Bose and Sonos, I decided to go with the Play 5. I already had 2 Play 3's that I use in my bedroom. I really loved the sound of them. I read several reviews on Bose speakers and they were great. Then I went to Best Buy and listened to the Bose speaker that I was interested in purchasing. Then I saw the Play 5 sitting there on the shelf, luring me to come closer. (Why did I push that demo button?) The sound that came from the Play 5 encompassed my entire body. My ears let out a sigh of relief as I closed my eyes to take in everything. Amazing! I could hear every instrument clearly. Nothing was garbled. I turned the sound up and was amazed that the quality of the sound didn't change. I called the sales associate over and told him that I wanted the Play 5 right then and there.
I came home and plugged it in. Setup was a breeze...completed in about 5 minutes, if that at all. Just for giggles, I paired it with my Play 3's. Oh me, oh my! How did they get that heavenly sound in there? I unpaired my speakers and danced like a teeny-bopper, and I'm far from teen anything...lol. I fell asleep that night listening to my Play 5. I highly recommend this speaker. You get what you pay for and this is well worth the price.

I purchased the boost transmitter at the same time that I purchased my Play:3's. (I purchased 2 Play 3's). I still don't know if this is necessary or not but I bought it because I play on getting more Sonos components to include a Soundbar as well as a sub.

I searched for wireless speakers and found the Sonos brand. I waited for about 4 months and kept doing research while I waited. I also waited to see if the price would drop (no such luck). I finally purchased 2 Play:3's and I was not disappointed. I have one in my bedroom and the other in my kitchen. The sound is so rich and extremely clear. I absolutely love the capability of connecting the speakers together to play the same music. The sound BOOMS though my house! I'm now considering getting the sub and the sound bar. Might as well go all out!!! I've started with the best and I won't turn back now.

No, this will not work. I say that it won't work simply because this router is simply a router and not a combo router/modem. I hope this helps.

Can this be the component that connects directly with Ethernet to our internet?
We don't need a speaker in the small bedroom that houses our internet line. Can this then be the main component that connects directly with an Ethernet cable? And then have all the other speakers, in all the other rooms, connect wirelessly to this boost component? Or must we have a speaker connect directly with an Ethernet?
I have my Boost connected directly to my wireless router. As for my speakers, I have them connected to a wall outlet which supplies power to the speakers...that's it. So in short, your speakers don't need to be plugged into the ethernet router....only the Boost. Hope this helps.
