Enjoy flavorful ingredients for longer. This Samsung refrigerator is extra-large, so it can fit enough groceries for the whole household. Plus, you can adjust settings to keep meats, cheeses, produce and more at chef-approved temperatures for lasting freshness.

Absolutely Incredible

Verified Purchase:Yes
My wife and I looked at fridges for probably 8 or 9 months before we finally decided to buy. We had decided on the top of the line Samsung Chef Collection fridge, but we had some things come up and were forced to push off the purchase for a few weeks longer. When we finally went in, we were surprised to see that the fridge we intended on buying was no longer there. They had just replaced it with the newer year model, which was this one. The price of the fridge went up around $1,000 from the previous year model, but aesthetically it was immediately apparent why.
This fridge is incredibly high quality, with no detail overlooked. The convertible shelves (two sections of shelving can slide rearward under the section of shelf behind them, allowing you to accommodate taller items) come in extremely handy. There is more space than we'd be able to fill up in this fridge if we tried.. To give an example how just how much detail went into the design of this fridge, the drawers in the freezer sections even have soft-close rollers, so they cannot be slammed (you close them 90%, and they close themselves softly the final 10%).
The bottom right door can be switched from a freezer, to a fridge, to a blast chiller at the push of a button. Originally I was planning on using it as a fridge, since we use much more fresh foods than frozen, but after trying and failing to fill the main section of the fridge, we ended up just leaving it as a freezer. It's nice to know that around the holidays, though, we'll have the option for even more fridge space.
The sodastream works well, just remember to hit the button from time to time when you see the gauge getting low and recharge it, otherwise the water will come out flatter than desired.
Despite its scary high cost, in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I simply can't recommend this fridge enough. My only piece of advice would be to measure VERY carefully. I have a very large entryway to my house and a very large custom kitchen, and the delivery guys had to take the doors off the fridge to get it into my house, and once installed, I've only got around 1/3" between the fridge and the wall/cabinetry.

Rough Start, Excellent Finish

So, I'm going to preface this by saying my review is going to be long, and in two parts. The first part is in regard to delivery and installation. The second part, and what my star rating reflects, is the dishwasher itself. So if you're not looking to have it delivered and installed, go ahead and skip on down to part two.
1)
So, upon placing my order, I was notified the dishwasher was backordered. Not a problem. It was what my wife wanted, so it was what she was going to get. After around 4 weeks, it came in and was ready to be delivered. For my area, Best Buy uses a private contractor to deliver and install their dishwashers. This wasn't an issue for me, though I was a little taken aback when they showed up in an unmarked panel truck in everyday street clothes (tshirts and shorts), instead of a company vehicle wearing uniforms. No biggie. They were polite and friendly.
They walked into my kitchen (I have a large custom kitchen, but my dishwasher is directly next to my sink, just like in most homes), informed me that the hose they brought to connect my dishwasher to the water line just wasn't going to be long enough (they estimated it being around a foot short), and they didn't have any longer ones on the truck, so they'd have to leave my dishwasher and I would need to reschedule the installation. With that, they set my new dishwasher in my dining room and left. Needless to say, my wife was less than thrilled.
So, I made around a dozen calls, to Best Buy, and Geek Squad, speaking to various reps at various levels up the chain, before my installation was rescheduled for two days later. No one seemed to be able to tell me why the hose wasn't long enough, when I purchased the standard installation kit that Best Buy required me to buy, but they assured me it would all be sorted out. I was told by the contractor before they left that first day that I would be charged $45 when they came back for the new hose that was a foot longer (despite having already paid $30 for the original kit, which included TWO hoses). No one could explain that to me either. But I said fine, whatever it took to get it out of my dining room and actually get it installed.
So, Monday comes along. My installation window was between 2-6pm. I get a call at 5:45pm from the installer saying he was running a few minutes behind, but that he was on his way and would be there soon. So I am expecting him to be there around 6:10, maybe 6:15... At 6:50, he finally showed up. Had i have known he was going to show up an hour AFTER my appointment window, I wouldn't have had to take a second day off work. But again, he was polite, and quickly got to work, so I let it go. He removed my old dishwasher (which I had to help him move to my dining room), and had me help him move the new one from the dining room into the kitchen. He then got to work hooking it up. When he was done, he asked me for a check for the water line, which had somehow doubled. I was charged $90 instead of the $45 I was previously quoted, with no explanation of why. Then he left.
This is where everything really fell apart. I looked around, and my house was destroyed. There was plastic and cardboard and styrofoam everywhere. In my kitchen, there were two wooden trim pieces that surround my dishwasher to cover the gap on either side, both had been taken down and set on the kitchen floor, and just left there. I went to go use the dishwasher, and it made this awful popping sound anytime you opened the door. In addition, and this was the icing on the cake, I went to use my pull-down sprayer in my kitchen faucet, and it wouldn't pull down. I look underneath my sink, and the hose for my dishwasher (the longer one, since I was told the one that was two feet shorter wasn't long enough) was apparently too long. So instead of using a smaller hose, like I originally purchased, the tech just wrapped three feet or so of the house around the hose for my faucet, which made it so I couldn't use it.
So, in summary, trashed house, trim not put back on cabinets, dishwasher not functioning properly, charged $90 for a $45 hose that I never needed to begin with, and now I could no longer use my kitchen sink.
So, Tuesday morning I made another call to Best Buy, to speak with the rep that had been assisting me. Before I got through to her, though, I happened to get ahold of a friend of mine who is fairly high up in the company. He got in touch with the Regional Director of the contracting company, who called me personally. Friday afternoon, so a full week after it was originally supposed to be installed, the Manager of the local office for the contractor personally came out to my house. In 15 minutes he had every issue fixed and addressed, and returned my $90 check to me. In addition to this, Best Buy refunded me for the $30 install kit (that never actually made it to my house).
All in all, it was stressful and frustrating, but I was content with the end result. I don't know that I'll be having them install any more appliances for me, but I'm happy with what I've currently got.
2)
So, now we get to the dishwasher.
I read a lot of reviews before I bought this one, and the two biggest complaints I seen were that food was not being cleaned off dishes, and that dishes weren't being dried. Both of those will be addressed below.
The first three or four times I ran the dishwasher, I would open the door as soon as it beeped, and found that all of my dishes were still wet. I don't mean there was still steam or slight moisture on them, I mean the dishes were literally cold and dripping with water, and there was large puddles of water on the sides and bottom of the dishwasher. I even used the Dry+ option (which adds extra dry time) with the same result. I was convinced that the heating element was defective or not working.
I called Best Buy to use my protection plan to have a repair tech come take a look at it, and got transferred to talk to the tech to make the appointment directly with him. After talking to him, he tried to tell me that the issue was just because I didn't have Jet Dry in the dishwasher (the little trial bottle didn't come with it, and I hadn't gone out to buy it yet). Based on the amount of water and the fact that it was ice cold immediately after drying, I thought he was crazy, and all but told him so. He scheduled an appointment to come out, but I agreed to go buy some Jet Dry to try out, under the agreement that if it worked, I'd call back and cancel my appointment, and if it didn't, then he'd be out to fix it.
So, I went out, bought a bottle of Jet Dry, filled up the reservoir and cranked it up to the highest setting, ran a load, and wouldn't you know it, they came out bone dry and spotless. It's now been a couple months worth of using it three or four times a week, I've yet to have to refill the Jet Dry, and I've not had a single droplet of moisture inside that dishwasher since. I couldn't believe it, but it worked, and he was right (I guess that's why he's the repair tech, not me).
As far as the complaints about it not cleaning dishes goes, I don't know what happened with them. We've put dishes in that were rinsed off in the sink first, we've put in pots, pans and dishes that still had food caked on them, and everything in between, and we've never had anything come out with ANY residue or debris left on it. I've never seen a dishwasher that cleaned as well before (to give you an example, the dishwasher that I replaced with this one was a three year old Kitchenaid dishwasher that was their highest model series and best dishwasher three years ago, that cost me almost $1,700, and it didn't clean half as good as this one does).
So, I know that was a lot to read, but to sum it all up, I simply cannot recommend this dishwasher enough. It has WELL exceeded my hopes and expectations in every aspect. My wife loves it. It looks incredible. To top it all off, it holds almost twice as many dishes and silverware as my Kitchenaid of the same size did. If you're on the fence, take the chance and buy this guy. You won't regret it.

Does it come in regular stainless steel color?

Yes. Many of the other Samsung fridges come in either a regular Stainless Steel finish or a Black Stainless Steel Finish. This fridge, however, ONLY comes in the regular Stainless Steel Finish (as of the date of my purchase, May 2015).

Built to fit more dishes. This Samsung dishwasher powers through each wash with a wall of water pressure to thoroughly clean each dish. Plus, you can control which zone gets a more intensive wash to target heavy messes.

Are all the racks plastic coated metal or solid hard plastic?

The very top rack, the Flex Tray, is completely plastic with a plastic foldable tray that sits atop it that your silverware/whatever goes on. All of the other racks are coated metal. When I say coated, they have a very durable paint-like coating, not like a plastic or rubber coating.

The Flex Tray and bottom rack are on normal rollers, while the center rack is on stainless steel ball bearings (so it rolls in and out incredibly quickly and smoothly).

Hope this helps.

Has the latch problem been resolved

Per Reviews of latch an door not closing right. Has that been address
7/11/2015
I purchased my dishwasher in February, and finally received it and had it installed early March. My wife and I have used it 3-4 times a week since then (almost two months ago), and have had zero issues with the latch. So, my guess is that whatever issue there was has been resolved.
