Very happy with the Danby 12000 btu portable. It keeps our 500sq ft living area at 72-75 F with outside temps in the 90s and direct sun. We set the timer to come on about 11am before the temps rise too much. If we cook or have company it might get to 76 but still feels comfortable. Runs more quiet than our high velocity frigidare window unit. Only complaint is that you need the remote to access the sleep and timer modes. Seems to be almost as efficient as a window unit.(costs us about $1/day)
Portables are a great alternative when you don't want an unsightly AC unit visible from the street, or blocking closed curtains.

Basic cover. Provides adequate protection for around the house and careful transport. Holds up pretty well after a couple months use. Biggest problem is the lack of a camera window. I used a dremel tool to cut a window for for the camera. It took a bit of doing, but it looks good and works fine now.

Being a Windows user for the last 25yr, it took downloading the user manual on PDF to get used to using the android system. But it didn't take long to learn the few differences. Tablet size of 10 inch is good for viewing, and the touchscreen works good. (Any smaller might be a problem for big fingers.) Only complaint is the RAM size of 1GB (although adequate) requires that you close inactive applications to keep it running. Wife uses it all the time for facebook, shopping, games, etc. She loves it! Camera quality is good. Battery charge lasts about 6 hrs of continuous use, and the price is right too.

Replaced (upgraded) from an old motorola surfboard SB5100 with this AC1750 unit. My results after 2 months use follow:
1. WIFI coverage is great thru the entire house.
2 Only one drop of cable connection. Our old modem would drop connection almost daily.
Pleased with the user interface and setup was easy. Got rid of TWC's monthly rental too.
