Good Photo Editing Software

I have not had a retail version of any photo editing software in a long time. I actually have used several different open source applications and have always liked the experience within them. That being said, this photo editing software looks to be complete, with nice easy tabs to navigate from a newbie's (Quick) perspective all the way to the Expert's perspective. I was easily able to crop and filter several different photos, as well as export them for the purpose I needed. When comparing it to what I am use to using, it seems to have all of the options and probably more, that I have not found yet. It will be fun experimenting with this application to find all of its hidden gems. I am certain I may only scratch the surface of what this software is capable of.
I would suggest this to a friend that would not be able to make open source work.

Intriguing New Gadget, Easy SetUp, Needs refining.

I recently received the Google Home to test and review. I was waiting with anticipation, but was a little disappointed with it's performance. Setting this unit up, was just as simple as unboxing it. There was literally no hesitation to get down to the nitty gritty and use it.
So let's start with what I appreciate about it. It's design is sleek but unassuming. It easily sits in the background until you need it to wake up with "Okay Google" or "Hey Google", its trigger phrases. It's sound is incredible for having such a small footprint. I know it won't compare to a high end bookshelf speaker, but that's exactly it, it is not one. For what it is designed to do it handles all sorts of music with great response. It's bass and treble had a perfect balance when playing music, which is a breeze while I had it synced to my Google Play Music Account. The voice recognition is outstanding, with its far-field microphones. There is no need to increase the volume of your voice, even in the middle of it streaming music. It recognizes the trigger phrase and then turns the music down while it responds. I wondered what would happen while trying to trigger this unit, while my Google Pixel will wake with the same trigger phrase. Will they both respond and it be a bit confused? No, both units get triggered, but then my phone notifies me that another device is responding, and this creates a little bit of frustration that I will cover in my Cons paragraph. I do love that in the morning I can ask it about my day and it will let me know what the weather is currently, and the day's outlook, any events from my calendar for the day, and it will play my selected news podcasts, which first in line is Tech News Today From the TWIT network. I also enjoy being able to add an item to my shopping list nested on Google Keep, I just wish I could add items to different lists. I hope to invest is some home automation gadgets in the future to test out some of it's integration in that department. I did find this unit pleasurable to set up and use, I just feel the software needs a little tweaking.
As with any new technology there are certain things that make you scratch your head. What this unit seems to be, is a blend of a Chromecast Audio melded with Google Assistant. But with that being said, Google Assistant needs some work. The two areas that I would use it regularly, is adding reminders, or adding an event to my Google Calendar, and she responds that she can't do that yet, but she is still learning. So then I thought well for now, that's fine. I will just set my reminder or my event with my phone. Nope, the fact that my phone knows that the Google Home is listening to me, it notifies me that "another device is responding". I'm not sure how this was missed, or not addressed while it was in development, for me if I was purchasing this unit, it would be a deal breaker. It also can't find individual songs that I know for a fact are in my music library, and it appears it only will play a playlist that I have on my phone. That brings up a question, being I am a conscious data consumer (my daughters call me the Data Police), We have a 2Gig data limit on our wireless plan, and a 300Gig data limit on our wired broadband plan. We always pay attention to how much we stream. We all download our playlists to our devices and play them within, instead of streaming, when we can. To the question: When listening to my playlist from Google Play Music on my Google Home, is it streaming or is it playing/casting from my personal device, that I have it downloaded on. I will be looking for an answer to this question and will follow up with an update. I do believe that most of the shortcomings will probably be fixed via an update to the device and maybe even some work on Google's server end.
I would only recommend this unit for a certain type of person, one that likes home automation, one that listens to podcasts regularly, a gadget enthusiast and finally a patient person. Who knows when Google will get around to tweaking the software, to be even a better assistant. It's easy to give negative review, with these types of devices, especially when it seems they are quick to go to market. Take a moment and think about what Google is actually accomplishing here. Incredible, but I'm waiting for it to be AMAZING!!!

Super fast and easy to install is what I think of when looking at this Linksys - WRT AC3200 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router. This unit has a 1.8 Ghz dual core central processing unit cpu, with simultaneous dual bands, and one USB 3.0 Port, and one ESATA port. It also harnesses beamforming technology which reduces interference while connected to it. This unit was easy to install with it's linksys smart wifi app, and has all of the programming features you would imagine. It is open source ready making it easily customizable. It handles high bandwidth transactions like downloading and streaming media.

Extraordinary Design of Hardware & Software

When approached to review this Google Pixel 4G Lte 32 Gb smartphone on Verizon's network, I did not hesitate. This is Google's first attempt to build both it's own hardware to run it's latest software, Android 7.1 Nougat.
Google really released their first attempt at hardware with all cylinders firing. It is so beautiful, with it's polished aluminum, it's round edges, it's transition from screen to bevel, and the edges that are easy to hold onto. It's too bad mine will be masked in a protective shield of OtterBox, the Defender series and won't shine in all it's technological sleekness.
The display is stunning, and I'm coming from a QHD screen. It's 1080p display has vibrant Colors, a sharpness that separates itself from others, without the battery drain of a 4K screen, and it's touch capabilities are exceptional. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 looks no different that it's later versions, but as you guessed it is more durable and scratch resistance which makes sense.
Even though Google's designers opted to move forward lacking front facing, stereo speakers, the mono bottom firing driver delivers clean and rich sound, that is loud while, not distorting at all.
This is actually my first USB type C device mobile device. I understand it's purpose, it's just a pain when we are in transition fo standards. I have so many Micro Usb cables, and no Type C, I know not to bargain shop for these type of cables, because of some articles I have read. It will be easier as the standard is adopted across the board. I do appreciate that Google sent two cables and an adapter making the transition to new cables a little easier. I will use the one with the type A to Type C connector to charge my phone overnight with a less powerful charge, in hopes that the less I quick charge the battery, the longer it will last. I will have the charger block and Type C to Type C with me in those situations where I might need to top off the battery while I am out and about.
This is also my first smartphone with a finger print scanner. I really love this feature, it makes unlocking the phone a breeze, where usually I would get tired of punching in my code and disable the security all together. This feature keeps the phone locked, but doesn't hinder the use of it. I love that the software is written to use the finger print sensor as additional input gestures. Once you have unlocked the phone, if you swipe down on the finger print sensor your notification shade opens down, if you swipe again, it will show more detail from you notification shade with some setting options, that you can customize to have options you want handy. When your done, swipe up, and the notification shade goes away.
The camera hardware is by far the fastest camera I have ever experienced with a smartphone. It's low light capabilities are very strong as well. I have never owned an iPhone, but My daughter swears by their ability to capture images in low light. I am hearing a lot of chatter, saying this camera beats the iPhone...I will see as I continue to use it. This phone definitely captures better front facing images with it's 8 megapixel camera.
I am head over heals for Android's 7.1 Nougat. It is so snappy with this hardware. I have had some issues with Google Assistant, but hope Google will be fine tuning or tweaking some of it's features. One in particular, I have a old Motorola Droid sitting in the kitchen, as I need to add something to my grocery list, I do it using Google Now, "Okay Google, add mushrooms to my Aldi list." It adds mushrooms to my Aldi list that is sitting in my Google Keep account. With Google Assistant, it only allows you to add items to your shopping list, which works well, but If you shop at different stores, why wouldn't be able to access or add to any list that is residing in my Google Keep??? I am hopeful that Google will fix this small detail.
One of the biggest thing I miss from my old phone, is the knock on/off feature. I just was so use to using it, that I still find myself tapping my screen of the pixel, and waiting for it to wake up.I actually read a few articles reflecting that this feature may be introduced via some updates. But then you still would need to unlock the phone if you have it secure. Another thing that I notice and I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or a software issue???
With my old phone, I could turn off my data, and I would still receive group messages. With this Pixel, I found that I got notified about the message, but to download it, the Cellular Data switch had to be on. I have only done a little research, because I seldom get group messages. Maybe in the next few days I will test out this 24/7 support, If I do I will update this post, to let you know how it went.
I give Google an A+ for this wonderfully designed smartphone. I know that this Google Pixel 4G Lte 32Gb Smart Phone (in Slate) is a little bit of shock at $699.99, being all of Google's other handsets(Nexus) were about half that cost. But if you are the type of person that likes the latest greatest, there are several pricing/financing options when you go to purchase one. I would recommend this product to a friend. In doing some research on this new phone, it is being called the iPhone killer by some, I guess time will tell.

An Average 2-in1 for the Price

This unit, an Acer Switch One 10, has a very compact form factor, and has all the versatility of a 2-In-1, just with a little bit of a twist from the design stand point. It's name Switch, defines how to get to it's versatility. The display disconnects from the keyboard and becomes a tablet, or turns around so the keyboard can tuck in below it, or reverses so you can have the display first for watching
touch functions, or in a tent mode for watching videos, or navigating your favorite rss feeds via the touch functions.
This unit is perfect to take with you, and not have to lug around a full size laptop. At just under 1.5 lbs, it is ultra portable. Typing this review on it's compact keyboard is easy, even with my porky fingers and without an illuminated keyboard, it's layout is what you would expect.

I appreciate the feel of metal on a tablet or any portable device, this tablet or top half is surrounded by metal, which gives it a more durable or higher end feel. Its display is layered in glass as well, the keyboard/base on the other hand, feels cheap and almost toy like. It's keyboard is too light. When in the laptop mode, if you tip the screen too far back, the whole unit will rock back on it's displays back. The touch display lags a little when using it, but other than that it is quite accurate. I was disappointed that this device came with a proprietary charger, one that actually seems a bit small and flimsy for daily charging, but was then impressed to see they also included a micro USB connection that will also charge and allow more flexibility if you forget the factory power-pack. The fact this unit only had 32 GB limits what software you can add to it, being that almost half of it is already taken up by it's Windows operating system, again Acer offers a solution for this by allowing you to install a Micro SD card and Windows 10 actually has an option to install any further software directly to it, which was a missing option in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. I consume a ton of Podcasts, both audio and video. This unit had a hard time with some of my video podcasts that were high definition, with buffering issues.

Ultra Light and Powerful

This unit is the Bissell AirRam Cordless 2-in-1 Stick Vac. It is ultralight, ultra powerful in a cordless form, and is easy to use and easy to dump. This unit operates on a 22 volt lithium battery, and will give a run time of 40 minutes on bare or hard floors and 30 minutes on carpeted floors. Once the charge is depleted, it will recharge in 4 hours. This unit is easy to steer, and is great for steps. I will be using it on our three flights of steps. Dumping this bagless unit is a breeze. The front of the unit has some super bright leds so you can see where you are vacuuming. You can also remove the beater bar fairly easily, so you can vacuum longer rugs or rugs with tassels with out damaging them. Two things I don't like about this unit is, first it has no way to do crevice vacuuming, it really is for the quick clean up, or steps, with the idea that you would still need to use a crevice tool on your big boy vacuum to get good clean corners. Second, when you remove the beater bar for more delicate vacuuming, there is a plug that has to seal up a hole to maintain proper suction. When the beater bar is in place there is no where to store this plug. I imagine mine will get lost in no time.

High End with Attention to Detail

Wow, this thing is beautiful, powerful and was thoughtfully designed. I'm impressed. This 13 inch, full HD unit is the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1, under the hood is Intel's new Kaby Lake, 7th generation i7-7500u Core processor running at 2.7GHz. It's 8 GB of ram and 256GB Solid State Drive runs Windows 10 flawlessly.
There is really so much to appreciate about this unit. It' size and form factor is adaptable to many uses. From standard laptop use, to tablet, tent or display. This particular unit is packaged with Bang & Olufsen speakers, and I have to say they're amazing. The base is rich while the highs are very crisp, without sounding tinny as so many laptops do. I can't believe how thin and light weight this unit is. It measures a 13.8mm profile and comes in at just under 3 lbs, at 2.85 lbs. As I type this review, I am again reminded, what did we do before back-lit keyboards?? This compact keyboard has a layout, that is easy to adapt to, it's spacing is a bit stretched and it lacks a number pad.
A feature I have only used on this device is Windows Hello, this feature uses the Infrared webcam to recognize your face and log you in automatically. It actually works really well.
I love that this unit comes with a protective leather-like pouch. This won't protect from falls as it is absent of shock absorbing material, but will protect its sleek metal finish from scratches when you slide it in your backpack or murse. Again the attention to detail on this unit is bar-none. It only has four ports, for connection. One is the headphone jack, one is a USB 3.0 Type-A, and two are USB 3.0 Type-C. You may have noticed there are no external dedicated display ports of any type. My only guess as to why they did this, is simply to make it even thinner then last years model. In some of my research, I have found that the USB Type-C supports charging, display support, and of course lighting fast data transfer. I have never played with that type of display port, but I think all you need is an adapter. So all in all this unit the HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 12-w013dx is an excellent tool to have in your bag, to use for entertainment, to publish a blog, to edit photos, or just to check email and browse the web in your local coffee shop. Only at Best Buy Acer Aspire R 15 Convertible 2-in-1 Laptop: Combine performance and versatility with this Acer Aspire laptop. Snazzy & Functional with Great Performance

The form factor of this laptop is really incredible. This unit is housed in a two thirds metal case with a brilliant brushed finish, it looks sick. It's screen and top of chassis(keyboard) boasts the mentioned metal, the base of the unit/bottom is plastic with a non slip finish which helps grab the surface it is sitting on when it is in it's numerous positions. It is absolutely adaptable to any ones need in a 2-in-1, but designed to hold up with it's metal finish and metal hinges.
I have to admit, I was wondering why do we need to have HD(1080p) laptop screens? But now that it sits in front of me it is a crisp and vibrant display, boasting a 1920 x 1080 resolution with IPS technology and LED back-lighting. The options for this laptop on Bestbuy's website include one with Intel's 6th generation i5-6200u or i7-6500u. The unit that arrived for review internally housed the 7th generation i5-7200u at a whopping 2.7 GHz processing speed as opposed to the 6th generation's 2.3 GHz. It comes with 8 GB of ram and a spacious 1 TB hard drive running at the slightly slower speed of 5400 RPM. I feel that this machine would be running on all of it's cylinders, with turbo engaged if it was equipped with a SSD drive. I feel that 1 TB is just way too big for most users, and that the speed advantages of the SSD even at a smaller size, would benefit this device. One can always connect up an external drive if you need more storage space, especially with the supplied USB 3 ports. This review is a breeze to type up in any lighting with it's backlit, compact keyboard. The 10-point multi-touch screen works with high precision. With such a high resolution, upon starting it up, I figured it might be hard to use the touch interface, but it isn't, as you can see in the image, it is simply easy to select text even at this resolution.
Battery life is spec'd at 9 hours, maybe if you have the brightness down the whole way and do minimal touch screen transactions. I seem to get about 4-5 hours with mid brightness. I did see a slight improvement when I turned off location and Bluetooth, to 5+ hours. It's a big screen and power hungry hard drive chomping at it's 4 cell, 3220 milliampere hour battery. Just remember to bring your power adapter, which by the way I personally feel that the connector for this laptop is a bit small and I fear it may be a major weak link on this device. I am real careful when plugging in and using the device while tethered to the wall, but I can imagine if one is not diligent with the power cord while using it, it could be broken, quite easily.

These Sony - MDR1000X/B Over-the-Ear Wireless Hi-Resolution Headphones are pretty incredible.
I want to start this review with the fact that I have never owned such a high end set of headphones, or any noise cancelling set of headphones. I wasn't sure what to expect, but after using them for a week and putting them through several different environmental tests, I am really impressed. Here are some of the specs for these headphones.

Close-fitting urethane foam earpads surround you ear and lock out distractions.
High Resolution audio (when connected via the supplied wire)
Bluetooth wireless connectivity (BestBuy's specs page boasts that the battery lasts up to 20 hours of continuous, wireless music playback.)
Ambient Sound mode
Quick Attention function - Lets you instantly hear conversations and your surroundings by simply cupping your hand over the right ear cup, it pauses the music, and uses it's external microphone so you can carry on a conversation.
Touch controls makes adjusting volume, skipping tracks, and answering calls a breeze.
Hard carrying case is included with an adapter for frequent flyers, audio cable and charging cable.
Just a note on the performance of the noise cancellation processing of this unit. I was using the headphones to listen to music while I was vacuuming our house. I was in the middle of twisting my head and felt the earpad lift slightly from my head around my glass's frame, and at the same time I heard more of the vacuum for a few milliseconds, and then the processor eliminated the annoying noise of the vacuum immediately.
The audio performance from the powerful 1.57" drivers with Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragm, handles heavy beats, and can reproduce a full range of frequencies up to 40 kHz.
That sentence is full of technical jargon, let me explain in layman's terms, the sound from these headphones are incredible. They are crystal clear with plenty of bass, but a perfect balance for high quality reproduction of music.

I have had numerous over the ear headphones, and quite often to wear them for more that an hour or so, were uncomfortable. These are very lightweight and comfortable, I actually forgot they were on.
The only con I can really find with these headphones is I fear that they may be priced out of some consumers budget. If you are a traveler or a audiophile these high end headphones may be what your are looking for. They are definitely designed with attention to detail. Ultimately, you do get what you pay for.

A Great Looking, Robust Router Sytem

Installation of this unit was a breeze. This unit looks nothing like a typical router. I installed it on my existing mesh network. It works flawlessly as would be expected from Netgear. I could not log in to my router with the Netgear Genie, but that might be because I'm using it as an access point. It does lack a guest network, but I was informed that it is on the way in it's next update by end of year (2016).

Yes it can, I just added three dual band nodes to an existing tri-band three node system. Ending in a successful six node velop system with multi bands...It works perfectly.

There is specific sequence that you connect them through. There is no display interface, so you only have the audio Cues of the device your connecting to it well, whether it would be headphones or speakers. It just works.
