I bought this 5 terabyte portable Seagate external hard drive because it had the largest storage capacity in a portable external hard drive that I could find. That is the initial reason. I already made the decision that I do not want any more electronics that take up too much space. I want small electronics. My very first portable external hard drive was actually a 100 gigabyte aluminum Seagate and I am still using it to this day. It was one of the very first one's they made I think, and despite being well over 10 years old, it is still going strong. They make quality products. This external is supposed to be 5 terabytes but of course it is more like 4 terabytes and change. It has a very fast transfer speed and it takes up little space. It has a small footprint. When I buy externals I always format them and then to make sure they are not a lemon I put some initial information on them and then I swap them out between computers and see how they perform. I have found that most of the time if an external is a lemon it happens right away. So I only put a small amount of information on one and then see how it works. And of course I keep the copy of the original data to make sure it is functioning fine. I bought the extended warranty for this and I recommend that for anyone that has floors that are tile as these electronics are delicate. This thing is fast and does not bog down even my cheap laptop computer when transferring data.

I recently decided to remove cable from my life (good riddance) and a member of the Best Buy Geek Squad suggested this product. I was skeptical at first but it has turned out to be an excellent product. Some things to consider. I find that it takes at least 15mbps of my internet to run this stick. So a buyer should make sure they have adequate internet speed to run it. Especially if a person has multiple sticks running in the house. I wish the cache was bigger for this stick. But I was able to put a free application on it to help clean the cache in addition to using the cleaning in the settings on the stick. It does not bog down really bad but I can kind of tell when it is time for a cleaning. The price was only $39.99 and it was well worth it. I had to order mine as the Best Buy store where I live never has them in stock because of their popularity. I appreciate and I am thankful for the helpfulness of Best Buy's employees and the Geek Squad staff when deciding on what technology is right for a purchase. That is a nice feature about their stores.
