Fun game - MyGM more is a bit annoying though

Really enjoy NBA 2k18, but the MyGM mode is pretty annoying. Avoid that mode if you can, but otherwise a great NBA simulation game to take with you on road trips!

Great TV, but Android TV needs some work

This is a fantastic TV... after looking at Samsungs, LG, and Sony for weeks, I finally decided to get the Sony because of Android TV. I figured it would connect to my Google Home systems and be another vessel to Google's domination of my home.
Started out with setting up the TV - which took about 10 minutes to get on the included stand and onto my TV stand. Not too difficult, but a two person job for sure. Once I plugged in the TV, it was pretty straightforward to setup... I used my Google Pixel to setup the Wifi and the Google account pretty quickly.
Gorgeous picture, no issues with the apps on the Google Play Store. Netflix and Amazon Video in 4K are gorgeous. Great TV, great investment...
Android TV definitely is something that Google needs to focus on - they have a leg up on Apple in this market. But, I can't get the TV to connect to my Google Home so I can do voice commands. I guess there's some different technology in play here (Google Home wants to use Chromecast tech, while the TV uses Google Cast, which is different?).
Weirdest part? You can control the TV using voice commands on an Amazon Echo. It's actually a pre-installed app. But you can't use a Google Home. Go figure.
Also, ton of pre-loaded apps that you can't delete. Didn't realize bloatware was on TVs now...
5 stars for the picture quality, the potential of Android TV, and because I can't deduct a half-star for the preloaded apps and lack of Google Home support.

Sounds great - one little quirk

This soundbar sounds fantastic, but has a minor quirk. The soundbar takes about a minute to start up after the TV is turned on. However, once it is on, the sound is excellent and definitely noticeable as an upgrade over the standard TV sound. I placed the subwoofer next to my sofa, against the back wall, and you can feel the bass through the sofa.

Great upgrade for Samsung
on December 7, 2016

Purchased the Gear S3 on a whim while picking up my Google Home. I did have a Fitbit and previously an Apple Watch (when I had an iPhone through work) and realized that while I always wore a watch, a smartwatch wasn't exactly the thing I needed. I mean, who needs another screen to remind me that I have 200 unread emails?
However, on a whim, I bought the Gear S3. At first the S3 seemed large (much larger than fitbit and apple watch for sure!), but not much bigger than a regular timepiece. It also has the weight of a good automatic watch, like an Omega.
Connecting to my Galaxy S7 Edge was a snap - the app was preloaded - I started it, it recognized the watch in about 30 seconds and began configuring it. After about 5 minutes, it was ready to go.
Functionality:
The Gear S3 is super easy to use. The bezel on the top moves smoothly but doesn't get bumped or moved accidentally, even with my hands in gloves or in my pockets. Vibrations for notifications are felt easily. Apps are installed quickly through the Gear app, as are pictures and additional faces. Oh, as it relates to faces - unlike the Apple Watch, custom faces are easy to create, even if they kind of sort of look like a real watch (Apple frowns on making your Apple Watch look like an Omega or Rolex). I did take a phone call from the watch and my wife said she didn't even notice I was speaking into my watch vs. on the phone.
Fitness tracking:
Coming from a Fitbit and an Apple Watch, my expectations were high. Both of those fitness trackers were first rate. That said, the Gear S3 is on par with them - step tracking is excellent, workouts are logged perfectly, and heart rate (while it does take a bit to get used to where the watch should be for perfect tracking) is pretty accurate. Everything syncs to S Health properly and quickly.
Notifications
The big gripe for folks on smartwatches is "too many notifications". That's true - unless you control them. Through the Gear app - I was able to turn off Facebook and Twitter notifications, along with the notifications for email and other non-essential services. I now have my Google app, Samsung Pay, and Weather as the only things pushing notifications to me
Battery
As I write this, I am at 35% battery remaining. I took the watch off it's charger 2 1/2 days ago. In short, the battery life is amazing. A Fitbit will last the better part of a week, yes, but when compared to the Series 1 Apple Watch that I had before - well, that watch was on the charger each night...
All in all - I'd absolutely recommend the Gear S3 to anyone looking for a fashionable, rugged, and downright usable smartwatch. Perhaps this is just what the industry needed to change it's fortunes....

Great start for Google
on December 7, 2016

Purchased the Google Home as a starter for my smart home. Unpacked it, and set it up in less than 5 minutes... super easy - download the app on my Android phone and follow the prompts. Linking to my Google Play Music, Chromecast, Nest Thermostats, and Pandora were easy as well.
However, that's where the utility for Google Home kind of ended. There are currently only a few things that Google Home can connect to, Google products like Chromecast and Chromecast Audio, and music services (Google Play Music, YouTube, Pandora) are the primary things. The only partners are are Samsung SmartThings, Philips Hue, and Nest (another Google product).
Given this is a brand new product (came out in November 2016), that was kind of expected - but seeing where Amazon is with Echo (Alexa), it's kind of disappointing that Google came out with a product that doesn't have a wider variety of partners. That said, I did read that in another few months, we should see a larger range of partners coming on-board, so we'll see some growth in the very near future!
There are some major pros for Google Home... primarily around voice recognition. The Google Home is amazing at recognizing voices. Saying "Ok Google" sounds kind of odd, but coming from an Android phone where I actually use the functionality already, it's not too much of a stretch. It can hear me from about 30 feet away, and recognize and process my voice even with other background noise. Finally, it does a great job with dealing with accents too - recognizing some difficult ones in some Thanksgiving tests.
Last point on administration - nearly everything can be done with the voice - however, the Google Home app is really very user friendly. Also, Google does record requests in the cloud - which is nice when checking to ensure that kids aren't abusing it :)
One last con - I did have a defective unit where the microphone did give up after a couple of days. Best Buy was awesome in letting me exchange it with no stress, and from reading online, it looks like it's an isolated issue to that specific unit.
All in all - a great first foray for Google into the space previously dominated by Amazon. Looking forward to seeing it grow and keeping up with it :)

Instructions say it isn't compatible with routers with wpa2. All my routers are wpa2. I have XFINITY as my main router. Thought it would be plug and play but can't get it done!

You can actually pass your credentials from your phone. But, all routers also broadcast their SSID - it's a bit more complex, but check online for connecting Google Home to your router and it should help.

Will the Google Home work with my smart devices (lights for example) if the internet goes out, but remains connected to the home network?

If you're on philips hue - it should!

I just want to be able to listen / request music from radio stations I usually listen to (i.e., WBLS, HOT97,etc.). Then I can learn ways to utilize other listening options, but first, I need music while I cook, clean, watch t.v., and more!

Hi Ruby - Right now it doesn't seem like you can do that with Google Home, but Google Play Music has some really great radio stations that my wife and I use while cooking. Just say "OK Google Play Classic Rock Music" and it'll put you into a great playlist :)
