An Android weak spot has long been it's charging port. This device takes care of that issue by eliminating the need to use the port. Lean your phone against the device and it starts charging. It's a fast charger, too, and I consider that a real positive. This is a great device for recent generation phones that can use induction charging. You may not be able to use it with some phone covers.

I will be using my device mainly as an e-reader. How long will the battery charge last in the reading mode ?
I can't tell you exactly how long it will last, but I can say that it has very good battery life. I don't usually power down between reads, I just put it to sleep. I'll read a few times a day, several days before even thinking of charging the unit. All in all, great battery life and fast recharging.

How many apps come pre-loaded in the Amazon-Fire Hd 8 ? 16gb-Wi-Fi-Black ?
There isn't a lot of bloatware, if that's your concern in asking. Most of the pre-installed apps are directed at Amazon sites. It does have some utilities for security (password, screen brightness, etc) that are very useful.
