I bought this drive 2 months ago and it's already dead. I bought it to back up all of my photos, documents, videos and music. I think I used about 45 gigs of the terabyte and it died. My PC (and the 3 other PC's I've tried) no longer recognizes the drive when I plug it in. The last 11 years of my digital life is being held hostage on this broken machine. If you have any data that you care about, I would put it on another product. I'm trying to recovery what information I can from the internet and friends right now. There is nothing I know of that can either restore my lost data or my faith in this product.
The product is under warranty but they require the old drive before they give me a new one. I am not willing to let the sensitive information trapped on the drive fall into any one else's hands. Besides, I don't want another drive so that I can worry about the day that it too fails.
Roku 1: Instantly stream your favorite content by connecting your TV to the Internet. Get set up in just a few easy steps, and access more than 2,000 channels of streaming entertainment. Find movies and shows in a flash with one-stop search or use your compatible device as a Roku remote.
I recently decided to sell my Playstation 3 system, which at the time was my primary video streaming device. I looked around at a lot of Blu-ray players that had video streaming services built into them but noticed that Amazon Instant Video is traditionally not supported except in a few pricier players. Then I came across the Roku. Not only was it clearly labeled on the box that it supports all my streaming services but at around $50, it was about half of the cost of one of the Blu-ray players that supported my services.
I only just recently just heard the name Roku and didn't know much about the company to know if their product was reliable or had any problems. I rolled the dice and took it home and boy am I happy I did. The unit is super small; about the size of a deck of playing cards. It hooks directly into my TV so there is no need for your Computer, DVD, Blu-ray or Video Game Consoles to be physically wired into it. It connects to the internet through a wireless signal so owning a Wireless Modem is mandatory for this machine. During set up, it'll automatically detect the nearest signals and, after selecting yours, ask for the network password. That's all there is to set up. Really quite easy.
As for programming, there are all the popular services such as Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and Amazon (which you have to play subscription fees to each respective company to use). There are also channels like HBO that activate once you type in some account information from your cable provider (assuming you already pay for HBO). Not everything on Roku is a pay service though. There are quite a lot of FREE channels as well. I've so far had the opportunity to check out a few. The selection on the free channels isn't as great as one would hope however they do offer quite a few channels to choose from. The real draw of the system is the pay channels however it is nice that they offer something for free anyway.
The only draw backs that I can see are the limited content on the free channels and the fact that the system never actually turns off. There is no power off button. The system is designed to stay on at all times so it can update whenever one is available. This means that it's constantly connected to the internet and constantly pulling power. I've yet to see any impact in my internet why this system is running and I'm surfing the web but I'm sure that some people my have a concern over this. As for the power that it requires while one; the box says that it's designed to drain as much energy as a night light while in idle mode. So while these two aspects could be a concern to some people, in the long run they really don't amount to much trouble at all ... if you even notice it.
I love my Roku and would definitely recommend it to anyone else.

What's great about it: Supports all the popular streaming services including Amazon
What's not so great: It never turns off; just goes idle
