Slick Design
on October 13, 2016

The HP Spectre X360's design is incredible. The aluminum body is very appealing and wonderful to look at. It isn't the lightest is a tad bit heavier than my Mac book Air, but I can still carry it around just about anywhere.
I have the 13.3 model, so so it is easier to transport from school to work. I have used it for taking notes, writing an essay, and various other activities. The touch screen capability makes it much easier to maneuver when you have to scroll through a document or page. This is a must when you are in college, as you find yourself having to go back and maybe edit, or add a note somewhere.
Just like pretty much all new laptops, you have no HDMI ports or disc drive. You have two USB-Type C ports, so you'll have to buy adapters if you wish to connect to a HDMI, VGA, etc... You do get a USB 3.0 connection, which calls for faster data transfers. Adapters can be found for around $30, so it can get expensive if you are looking to use various connections methods.
What I do like about this laptop is how versatile it is. The ability to turn it into a tablet really comes in handy when you are limited in space. You can also stand the display to allow you to watch movies, or even for reading. Another big plus is the Bang & Olufsen audio. This makes the sound quality so much better whenever you're in the mood for some music, or watching a movie. The keyboard has a back-light display that can be turned off and on. The display is also great, so it truly is a multi tasking laptop built for all types of use. The laptop also comes with a very nice looking sleeve for storage and transportation. I've already put it to good use.
One thing I did notice this morning is that the computer froze on initial startup. It uses facial recognition, and as it was doing so, the screen became frozen on the welcome screen. I had to do a hard restart and it finally worked. Another thing that I noticed immediately was that some of the commands were slow to respond, or just unresponsive. I guess that is why I did away with PCs and went for Macs.
The computer comes equipped with the latest version of Windows 10, which is much easier to work with. I know that there are some people that just absolutely hate Windows 10, but it isn't that bad. For the price, you would think it would come equipped with Microsoft software, but it doesn't. You get a free trial, but that's about it. You will have to spend some more money to get the software.
In all, the HP Spectre x360 is a beautifully designed laptop with lots to offer. The price is a little on the steep side, but if you aren't a Mac fan, this would definitely work for you. You have access to their app store as well, so there are tons of things that you can do with this laptop.

Great tablet if on a budget!

The Acer Iconia One 10 tablet is truly a great tablet for someone that is on a budget. It is a slick looking tablet that doesn't feel too cheap.
The Iconia One 10 tablet is fairly lightweight and isn't too bulky to carry around. I feel that this is definitely a tablet that can be used for college, as it comes with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc... The screen is significantly large and easy to look at. If you are looking for a budget friendly tablet for school, look no more.
The tablet comes equipped with a Micro SD card slot, but no card included. Expanding memory is a must, so I do recommend a card if you do plan on taking notes and using the tablet for school. It does have a crisp clear image, so it's easy on the eyes. You also have a Data transfer port by the card slot. I first thought that there was no memory expansion option, as the card slot is neatly tucked away above the back camera, so it is there.
As for the performance, it's no iPad by far, but it is a really good alternative. You have access to the google play store, so there are tons of apps available for the tablet. I haven't had it freeze on me yet, so I am hoping that this won't be an issue later down the road. It does come pre-fitted with many apps that you most likely won't have any use for, so you can go ahead and delete those to clear up more space. The picture quality is by far not the best, so don't plan on using for this purpose.
One big downside is that the audio isn't great. If you plan on watching movies on this tablet, get yourself a good set of headphones. I was disappointed by this because I was so use to good quality sound from my iPad.
For the price, you get a pretty decent tablet. It's a slick looking tablet that would definitely work for college. I use it for note taking, and school related work. You should definitely pick up a Micro SD card so that you can avoid filling up all of the memory in the tablet.
I would recommend this tablet to anyone that is in the market for a budget friendly tablet.
