Amazing sound and portability

I love this speaker let me start with that, it sounds amazing. I had been looking for something to be able to use when I get to have birthday parties for my kids again. Our backyard is pretty big and having a good speaker especially one where we can use a mic was crucial. I was able to test it out playing music from my phone and had a mic hooked up and it worked like a dream. I also had my friend come over and bring several of his instruments so we hook up and test them out. And it was so easy to use and sounded great. He’s convinced and will buy a speaker for himself to use on his gigs.
If you are looking for something with plenty of power but compact and light weight this is it, look no further your speaker is here.
I am definitely interested in getting the optional battery to make this completely wireless as I think that will make this even better but even having to plug it in now it works great.

An Upgrade From Last Year But Not Quite There Yet

I am and have been for most of my life a flip flopping Iphone and Android user, I typically would switch between phones every year or so. I got an Iphone 11 in 2019 and have stayed on Iphone since then. This is the longest I have gone without switching phones, I did start to get an itch last year when I started seeing all of the folding phones starting to come out. I was very intrigued by them but also very worried about the wear and tear those phones would take over time. When the first Surface Duo was announced I was interested in a folding phone that would not be susceptible to the screen being worn over time, but as the reviews started coming I was very disappointed lots of basic phone features were missing and the phone did not seem ready to go into consumers hands.
Fast forward to this year when the new Surface Duo was shown and they fixed several of the problems the previous one had. I was ecstatic to get this phone, I waited and waited to get in the mail and when it finally showed up I could not have opened the box any quicker.
My first impressions of seeing the phone in person was “wow this is much smaller and thinner than i thought it would be.” for being a book style folding phone I was shocked and how thin the phone is even when you fold it open to use with one hand. Even though it is very thin it is not the most comfortable phone to hold one handed because of the camera bump it does not fold completely flat and there is a bit of an opening. I could never quite hold it as comfortably as I would have liked.
I next want to talk about the screens, they are good, not great, solid looking pictures from both of them. I do not think the screens compete with what you get on other companies flagship phones but I dont think these screens are very far behind. I was disappointed with using an app across both screens as I thought I would not mind the gap between the screens. More than likely I would not have minded the gap if not for the fact that you lose information in that gap. Text that goes across the gap is cut off the middle, and it became especially noticeable watching movies as most movies the focus seems to be on the middle of the screen and losing a chunk of the screen just made it tough to not notice it.
Let’s talk about the Camera system now, it is obviously much improved over last years version, since last years version did not even have a rear camera system but again compared to the competition its ok, nothing to brag about, pictures came out well if you have good lighting with good detail, in lower lighting conditions it was not very great. I also didn't like having to have the phone open like a book to take photos as it felt very awkward. The nice thing is your photos pop up on the left screen after taking them giving you a very quick look at the photo you just took without having to exit out of the camera app, one weird issue I did notice using the camera which I hope will be fixed with software updates, was the screen that is showing you what you are taking a picture of looks really bad and often out of focus but once you take the photo the photo you actually took is in focus and looks good. This should be fixed in the future but beware if you are looking at getting this phone.
The more I used the phone the more I found I did not like it as much as I thought I would. The software is pretty buggy, the screen would not rotate when I would flip the phone and sometimes apps would jump from one screen to the other without me touching anything or apps were constantly closing on their own. This should be cleaned up with firmware updates but it makes me wonder how bad the first one was if it was way buggier than this one is.
The notification bar on the side when the phone is closed sounds like a great idea but in real use it never really worked for me. I also did not like having to completely open the phone everytime i needed to take a phone call, it's an extra step that I don't have to do on a regular phone. If they could put an earpiece speaker on the front so you do not have to open it the entire way to take a call next time that would be great.
I do not want this review to feel like I am just dumping on this Phone. Or that I disliked it, I actually really like this phone. I like the look and feel of it very much. As a productivity machine, this phone could be a game changer, being able to use two full screen sized apps in a smartphone is amazing. I was searching for some xmas gifts for my kids while watching some youtube videos, typically I will use my laptop while having a video playing on my phone while I do something like this but my son was using my laptop to do some school work. So I had youtube open on one side and chrome on the other and it worked great. I did not miss using my laptop at all. I felt like I could do so much more on this phone than my old phone for work, it honestly felt at times like I was using two devices at once. I think there is a ton of potential in this device but maybe not in this current iteration.
I do feel that it needs to go through another iteration or two before it really gets there, but the foundation is set for the future and I think the future looks really bright.
*I included some photos of the device and two examples of rear cameras. The headset on the stand has sufficient light and looks very good and detailed. The low light shot of the remote shows lots of noise even if the light level was not low. I also included a photo showing how the image is cut off in the middle, where you can see missing letters. On some videos it is not distracting but is very noticeable especially with text.

Awesome idea that falls flat in execution

I love the idea of this product and for the most part it actually sounds pretty good. I was playing some games at home but needed to still be able to hear my kids put these on and was still able to hear everything around me. That part is great and the sound quality especially with music is very good and enjoyable.
Now the problem, after about 20 minutes of using it I could feel it around my neck more and more especially if I moved around I would have to adjust it. I think a future version of this needs to be able to adjust to the wearers neck.
Confort aside my biggest gripe is with sound quality when it comes to movies and to a certain extent gaming. This is touted as a movie watching device and it falls very short in that aspect. It has the same problems and stereo sound bars have when you are watching a movie mixed with surround sound because there is no dedicated center speaker hearing peoples voices was Incredibly difficult. I would have to raise the volume and then everything else was incredibly loud. Playing games was a it better but don’t expect to use these for any sort of competitive gaming as it hard to pinpoint where exactly the sounds are coming from besides left and right.
I want to like this neckband speaker as I think it is a good solution for a problem i have, but unfortunately the execution just isn’t there yet, maybe the next version will solve these issues.

Speed Speed Speed!

I last upgraded my router in 2017, and after moving my home I felt that my old router wasn't up to snuff with all of the new gadgets and devices in our house now using the wifi.
I have always liked lynksys and my old router was one also. So I opted to stay with them and I am glad I did, setup was a breeze it took me less than 15 minutes to be up and running. and while my peak speed wasnt any different I did notice I did not have as much of a drop in speed the more devices were connected using the new router.
If you need a new router I highly recommend this one, it is very small and compact but covers a very large area and has great speed.

Great Air fryer

I use this air fryer for everything, I have been making as much food as I can using this device and everything I threw at it was no problem. I love the dual slots so I can be making different foods at the same time. it has sped up making meals.
There is only one gripe with this air fryer it is very loud, when it is working the fan is going and it is much louder than other air fryers I have used.

besides the noise though the air fryer works great and I highly recommend it especially if you constantly make more than one dish using the air fryer having the two sides makes it much faster to make multiple dishes.

Best looking Smartwatch

The citizen CZ smartwatch is easily the best looking smartwatch ever to me. it very well built and looks like a premium watch. I have not had a smartwatch for several years because the first time I used one I was severely disappointed, battery life was terrible and overall it was very limited. the improvements they have made since then are great the battery life alone is well worth. easily going a whole work day and never having to charge.
everything worked as I needed it to notifications came in and were very easy to see and the watch was very responsive in controlling my music.

Great doorbell camera!

I love my google Nest doorbell camera. Especially that it runs on a battery. It is so convenient my house is very old and did not want to spend the money it would cost to have someone come out and fix the old wires to the doorbell that no longer work. This was the perfect solution took me about 15 minutes to install and set up. After that I was off and running. Everything ok it has worked great so far and the notifications are quick and it’s easy for me to acces the app and watch what is happening I’m live. I could not recommend this more.
Highly recommended if your looking for a doorbelll camera.

Good Basic Smart Clock

This Lenovo smart clock work well if you want something that is basically and alarm clock that can charge your phone and have some basic smart functionality.
It cannot do any video streaming or video chat, which you might not want to do on this anyway since it is pretty small screen and most peoples phones are probably the same size anyways.
I played some music on it and as an IOS user google assistant work well to play exactly want you want and answer any questions you have. it worked well setting alarms for me when I asked and even using the app to get some routines set up was pretty nice. Everything works well and the alarm can get plenty loud and wake you up.
I will say the speakers are very meh sounding hen listening to music. they get decently loud but are not the best sounding.
If you need an alarm clock with some more functionality than one that just tells the time and has an alarm then this is perfect for you.
the charging pad is a nice touch as is the night light function.

Solid Gaming Laptop

The Alienware X15 is a good looking solid gaming laptop. Even though it’s bigger than a typical laptop it is still remarkably thin. In terms of games I was able to run pretty much everything I threw at it typically at medium or high settings. I was able to run control pretty well with ray tracing on and not have too many issues, and while you can play with it unplugged off the battery I recommend if you are playing games to have the laptop plugged in as the battery does not last very long. Depending on the game it can get pretty loud but for most part the fan level is not too terrible.
Overall I am very happy with it because I can use it for watching movies and typical work. In those parts the laptop shines battery life is great if your watching videos or just using it for work. The screen looks great and competes really well with my wife’s OLED screen laptop.

Speed, Speed, Speed

We all know one of the biggest flaws of next generation gaming is storage space. Xbox has their own product but it seems to be a bit more geared towards extending the space of the next gen games. I needed something more for my Xbox360 and Xbox games. I don’t need the blazing fast speed of the new hard drive in the Xbox. So I was extremely surprised when I’m loading the games from this external sad didn’t seem to be that different from the internal one.
If you need more space for your older games on the Xbox I highly recommend this drive it’s small so it doesn’t take up much space and it works great.

yes you need to download the google home app to set up the device.

It will support two zones, but you need an exterior amp to power the speakers on the second zone.
