if you like trackballs, should love this

I have wanted one of these since before they made them! i have used trackballs and "ergo" keyboards for at least a decade and love them. find myself clumsy with regular mice and keyboards. i have used the similar wired version and the wireless version is just as good.
It worked out of the box with no software (had none actually) on windows 7. range is great! i have a cheap Logitech mouse and its range was less than 10 feet when i tried it with laptop connected to HDTV about...well 10 feet away! Could need a new battery but its not that old or used that much. Software can be downloaded to custom program the extra keys (great for video editing).
The only slight issue i have is it sometimes seems to lag, possibly due to power conservation/waking up?
I have only had it a few weeks so i cannot judge this but, battery supposed to last like a 18 months! The lag is fairly rare and not too big a deal unless maybe your gaming and the price could be a little better but i am a bit cheap and its not best buy i shop around, and its about the same price or higher everywhere i found it.
If you don't have a trackball and want to try one i don't think you will be disappointed, if you use them already i think you will love this.
What's great about it: comfortable, its a trackball, no software needed (at least with 7)
What's not so great: price a little high IMO, rare but some lag
I would recommend this to a friend!

Computer keeps crashing

Originally I thought my computer was just getting sick of "Sims 3", as the screen would freeze and the game crash back to the desktop, but now my computer is crashing my internet browser and Word programs back to the desktop. The first set of error messages said the drivers needed to be updated, so I updated them and now the system crashes right after I turn it on. The error message to follow that crash said I needed to update my computer from the Microsoft Update page, which hasn't solved anything. Finally, last night, an error message stating an error with my hard-drive was found. I'm all readying planning to uninstall some unused programs and defrag the heck out of it tonight, but short of buying a new hard-drive what else can I do to save my computer? Or is it time to face the music and buy a new one?
that could be a lot of things other than a dying hard drive but, skip the defrag and check it with scandisk...right click on the drive in "my computer" and select properties..you should find it if you can find defrag. also its probably has S.M.A.R.T. (forget what it stands for exactly but, its a built in monitoring software that can tell you if your drives has symptoms of a coming failure)

if it has smart errors then i would replace it. It may last bit longer but probably not worth the trouble and rick of losing all your files.

Printer fix?

Have HP F4100 series printer that will not work with windows 7. was previously used with windows vista. Is it possible to download an update for this printer so it will work with windows7?
possibly, look it up on the HP website...Vista and 7 are pretty similar and if you can use it with Vista then you likely only need a driver update, sadly it seems a lot of companies don't update the software or are slow to do so...seems like they want you to buy a new printer.

If they do not update it printers are pretty inexpensive if you need it for something simple like just printing text or pictures that are not super high quality

Ok so i got a new camera the Flip Ultra HD for christmas. it doesnt work with my laptop....the Camera said my computer needs a
Operating System: 512 MB RAM on Windows XP SP3 or 1 GB RAM on Vista SP1*/ Windows 7*
Processor: 3.0 GHz Pentium 4

i am NOT computer smart so i have NOO CLUE what they are talking about
and i cannot find a laptop with 3.0GHz
i also am wanting a webcam on the laptop also....could somebody please help me!!!
i need to know so i can ask for money for my birthday.....
i will try to help you but it would be easier if i knew what kind of computer you are using..for example is it a dell or gateway...ect, brand laptop you trying to connect to? and what is the model number of the computer? you can probably find this on the computer case..it may say some thing like "dell dimension 2600"

it may be simple, like just not having enough memory, but you would need to have someone that knows what they are doing to upgrade that or the version of windows you have on your computer.

patch cords

cab I hook up a Lenovo to a Dell computer and download what is on the Dell to the new Lenovo and what courd do I use
unless your transferring a lot of data, forget networking and just use a jumpdrive...or an external hard drive.

you can get 4gig jump drives or memory sticks very cheap...10 bucks on sale probably. less complicated than networking and i assume that you are not too computer savvy, please excuse me if that offends or i am wrong about your skill level.

how do i remove an administraters password

I just purchased my used computer and there is an administror password that no one knew the current password. How do i remove this and change to my own?
i can answer this but bestbuy would probably remove it...i will say IF you can log into another account on the same PC, then you used to be able to remove (or change) it using the command prompt and the "net" command in XP. if you are more experienced look up ophcrack live...its a Linux based program.

Is there a big diference in routers

pretty much the differences in my opinion are:
quality of the brand (cheaper does not always equal poor quality), and features.
there are 4 types A, B, G and N (there are some called "draft N" that were using N features before it was released technically and those may not attain the highest transfer rates) A uses 5Ghz radio frequency and used to be a lot more expensive. Some have dual band and use the 5 and 2Ghz radios but its usually more expensive and pretty unlikely you would need the compatibility with the 5Ghz anyway.

Depends on what you are using it for...just a wifi connection to the net...then a G type would be fine and probably save you some cash but, if your going to use it like me to backup/transfer several gigs to another PC then you would want N and maybe even the wired ports to be gigabit instead of the typical 100 megabit. N is the newest standard so i would go with it if cost is not an issue or you find something similar in price range to a G type. Forget B type its way outdated and slower than the faster broadband speeds available now days.

How to highlight and select text with touchpad on hp G62-455DX?

I can not seem to figure out the touchpad and bar on my laptop, an HP G62-455DX. I have used others where there is a basic editing taskbar at the top of the screen, even when you are online. But I cannot access the EDIT, CUT, COPY etc but most of all, I can't select and highlight. The bar seems VERY difficult to click on and I can't click and drag to highlight text. Please help or tell me where to find keyboard help,
you can try the old fashioned keyboard shorcuts...click at the beginning of the text (or item, may not apply on everything or some formatting for text) and hold shift...use the arrow keys to select, press down to select quicker in paragraphs and such. then after gettin it highlighted hold the ctrl (control) key and press "C" to copy then hold ctrl and press "V" to paste.

also use "X" to cut and "A" to select all.

may not be the answer you were looking for but it works, great for text, and you can do it quicker than using the mouse once your used to it.

disabled my microphone in windows 7

I mistakenly disabled my microphone in windows 7 and now cannot find it in device manager to re-enable it? ideas?
go to control panel...it should be listed under "hardware and sound"...or if you have the volume icon in the system tray (next to you clock in the bottom right hand corner, may have to click upwards pointing triangle icon to reveal all the items in systray) then you can also right click on the speaker icon and select "recording devices"
hope this helps.

can you use a goflex portable hard drive in the netbooks

i have not actually looked it up to confirm but if it has a USB port then your net book should be fine. Only issues i think you could even possibly run into are:
A.any external hdd without a power supply may have issues with power if connected to a netbook, or even a desktop in some instances, due to USB power limitations.
B. i see a lot of netbooks use XP for the operating system...if it is not updated with services packs (currently on version 3 or SP3) then it may have issues with the larger drives (terabyte or higher)

USB is pretty much good to go, even on mac's, and XP should be already up to date with service pack 3 on any netbook sold i would assume, if not then its freely downloadable.
