An excellent camera except...

This camera delivers everything it promises - ease of use, compact size, excellent images. The once exception is that the additional electronic viewfinder (not supplied or available from BB) is essential to getting great images and video. Best Buy sales support and Geek Squad support is top notch.

Great for portraits, little else

I bought this camera as I shoot street portraits and it does not disappoint. Images (with a little post production tweaking) are pin sharp with the kit lens. The kit lens (as a short zoom) shot better than the Sony 50mm fixed lens. But that's it. The A6000 does not produce sharp images throughout the range of lenses I have tested and the zoom lenses are all but useless. Wait - they are useless. Shooting at wider or smaller apertures, better lighting, made no difference with the zoom lens. My 3 year old Canon HS280 ($300) produces better images.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Improve the image quality of your photos with this SONY E 55-210mm lens. The built-in OSS stabilizes moving images while ED glass elements improve contrast, resolution, and color. Telephoto zoom on this SONY E 55-210mm lens offers up to 3.8x zoom, and an internal focusing mechanism provides fast autofocus.

Beyond disappointing. Not sharp at all. Images are fuzzy when you look in close for detail. Without pin-sharp images what's the point in photography?

A fantastic camera with one major flaw

As a life-long photographer, my experience with this camera is that it is probably the best digital camera I have ever owned. Picture quality, anti-shake, low-light, colors, focus - all are excellent. A++
However I am one my third one having had to replace two others due to dust or grit caught in the lens housing. This camera does not like sand or blowing dust which means that bringing it to the beach or desert is not a great idea. If you do keep it in a sandwich baggie and dust off carefully after use.
There is the happy option of purchasing the great Best Buy insurance which I always do and Best Buy will replace the camera if problems as described occur. I did and they did. Thanks BB :)
What's great about it: Everything - picture quality, color, options, value for money
What's not so great: Extendable lens housing traps dust and self destructs
I would recommend this to a friend!
