Purchased the Epson 1040 to replace an Epson 730 (720DPI- 2000Lumens) that was damaged by an E-surge. I Debated about spending the extra to upgrade from 720DPI/2000 Lumens to 108/3000L. REALLY glad I did. The 1080DPI has a fantastic picture and at 3000L is very bright with bright vivid colors. Great for anything from night with all the lights out, to a fully lit family room. Like watching a 92” HDMI TV. The projector casts a 92” picture at 9 feet from the screen (ceiling mount) and could still go a bit larger but that is the limit of my screen.
Set up was easy. I mounted it to the ceiling mount and then flipped the picture and did the keystone adjustment. In hind sight I would have set the projector upright and then flipped the image as it make reading and navigating the menu easier when seeing it right-side up. Keystone adjustment was very easy. Adjusted in minutes. The powered USB port and second HDIM input makes it possible to plug my Chromecast directly into the projector with no other connection required. Fan noise is barely audible with a totally quiet room but was the sound is on, even from just the project without the surround sound going, the fan is not to be heard.
Was happy with the old Epson 730, but the 1040 is FAR better than the older 730. VERY happy with it. Would definitely recommend this projector.
