Really disappointing - charging to make 4k work?

I purchased this unit early from Magnolia and it was not cheap. I loved the idea of 4k movies and suffered with what I could download and play in 4k. Finally true 4K UHD HDR movies are available and so it the matching 4k Samsung blu-ray player (model UBD-k8500). I order the player and some movies but it doesn't work???? Well, turns out Samsung wants me to pay $400 for a "2015 Evo Upgrade" so that I can play 4k UHD movies. What???? I have a ton of Samsung gear including high-end equipment I paid a lot of money for and they want me to pay another $400 to watch UHD????? Bad customer service. This should be a free upgrade and they should send someone out to install it for what I paid for this equipment.

Chamberlain MyQ MYQ-G0201 Garage Door Controller: Open and close your garage door, even when you aren't at home. Plus, get alerts on your smartphone whenever someone opens or closes the garage door, or simply check to see whether you left it open.

Great product, be careful with IOS7 as of Nov 2013

I am very happy with this MyQ garage door opener and the install was very easy – except with Apple IOS 7. I followed the process several times and called the Chamberlain phone support. I give them kudos for being open on a Saturday and having short hold times but was annoyed by the typical script where you must answer questions unrelated to the problem just so the operator could get you to a tech. In the end the support person I talked to did not solve my problem. I ended up solving the problem myself.
During the install you must connect to the device via Bluetooth and “Add the Wi-Fi hub to your Wi-Fi network” (more on this later). I did this several times and my iPhone app (with IOS 7) would always fail saying I had to enable Wi-Fi on the hub. I reset the unit several times trying to figure out what was going on. Finally I tried my wife’s iPhone that still has IOS 6 – worked perfect. Bluetooth connected, it updated the software on the MyQ Hub and everything worked perfect! I never did confirm with Chamberlain that this is a IOS 7 bug and probably by the time you read this it will be resolved. If not hopefully I saved you some frustration.
Now, something I find interesting. When I used my iPhone to connect to the device and added the “Hub” to my network somehow the MyQ Hub obtained my Wi-Fi password from my iPhone. I never typed in my WEP Wi-Fi password in the iPhone app but when I look at my router DHCP lease table I see the MyQ listed with a valid IP address. I have searched online and have not found any reference to how you can transfer a WEP key using Bluetooth but somehow it must be possible. It is cool, very easy to set up. I guess it just sorta freaked me out that a device can learn my Wi-Fi password using Bluetooth from my iPhone.
Now, how does it work? Fantastic! I have the app installed on my wife’s phone and my phone but have not tested Android (assume it works). The reason I purchased this product was the positive reviews and because I have a problem leaving my garage door open. Sometimes I will remember about a mile from home and have to drive back to check and close the door. Other times I just forget! I live in Minnesota and have a heater in my garage that keeps it at 45 degrees. Last year I drove to work at least 4 times during sub-zero weather and left the garage door open (garage heater ran all day). I figure I will pay for this product with reduced natural gas costs very quickly! I set up an alarm to send a push notification and email if the garage door is open for longer than 30 minutes. I have not fine tuned this time yet but figure I don’t want alarms going off when I am taking out the garbage so 30 minutes feels like a good setting. I tested it at 2 minutes and the alarms fired like they should. So far I have not left it open longer than 30 minutes.
One feature I love is when you close the garage door with the application the MyQ hub flashes a bright light and sounds an alarm before closing the door. My Wife has the app installed as well and sometimes I may be working on a project and leave the door open on purpose. Now if my wife sees the garage door is open and decides to close it at least I will know it is going to happen and be able to override the open by hitting the wired opener.
I have only had this opener a few days and I don’t normally write reviews. I am very happy with this product. I only share my frustration with IOS 7 to help others. I would definitely recommend the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener.
What's great about it: Great for anyone who forgets to close the garage door
I would recommend this to a friend!
