Exactly What I Needed - Works Great
on January 20, 2015

We have a large home (5000 sq ft) and I'm running the WRT1900AC downstairs and the RE6500 upstairs. There is not a dead spot in the house any longer. I have Comcast 100/20 internet and I can easily pull 80/20 in any room of the house over wifi now.
The only issue I did seem to encounter was trying to extend both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz bands at the same time. When I did that, I would notice my speed would drop to about 10-25 downstream randomly, even when the device I was using was only connected to the 5 Ghz band. After I reset the RE6500 and only extended the 5 Ghz band, I haven't had that issue again, runs like a champ now. That is the only thing keeping this from a 5 star review, as the kids still do have 2.4 ghz devices so it would have been nice to extend both 2.4 and 5 ghz bands all the time, but with the WRT1900AC, those devices still get plenty of juice!!!

I would recommend this to a friend!

Take security videos efficiently and simply with the Ring Stick Up Cam. The green-conscious rechargeable battery renders 6-12 months of battery life between recharges, while infrared LEDs let you operate this camera during the day or night. The secure quick-release mount adds to the installation ease of the Ring Stick Up Cam.

This camera is Great, except the actual video!
By Jason
I love everything about this camera. From the form and function to the ease of setup (less than 2 mins) to mounting it wherever I want. The app is great, the two way communication is great. The motion zones work perfectly once you get used to setting them based on your environment and traffic, etc. The cloud storage option is amazing considering what you get for the price you pay. Everything is amazing, except the actual video quality of the camera. It's supposed to be 720p. It is not, at least not the unit that I have. My video quality is so heavily pixelated most of the time, that it renders having this camera in the first place, useless. The image attached to this review is an completely unedited screen grab from a recent video recording. I've been working with the Ring support, and they have been great, however they kept almost insisting that the reason for the pixelation was due to my wi-fi connection. I have Xfinity cable internet with 100mbps downstream and 25mbps upstream, and I use a Linksys EA9500 router that is about 12-15 feet from where the camera is mounted. Wi-fi signal is not the issue at all. I exchanged speed test screen shots and other details with the Ring support, and after discussing with them they have advised me to return this unit and exchange it for another one. They have looked at my videos and agree the video quality should be better than what I'm seeing. So I will do that and update this review if I do see better results with the new unit. Wish me luck!
UPDATE
June 19, 2016
So I returned the previous unit and exchanged for a new one, at the advice of the Ring support team. The new unit is up and running and I can say the video is better. So far so good!

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

Does this have simultaneous 2-way audio, or do you have to press a button to talk? I have the August doorbell and you have to push to talk and it works terribly.

You can hear all the audio from outside, but to talk to someone through the doorbell you do have to push the Talk button in the app. But it works incredibly well.

I just move to a new house and don't have pre existing doorbell. How can I get this install?

The Nest Hello needs to be installed using existing powered doorbell wiring. If you don't have an existing doorbell, you would need to contact an Electrician to have the wiring installed.

what are the color differences on hard drives?

I need to replace my hard dribe and see there colors associated with different items. Don't see a color on my old one.
The WD Red are intended for NAS ~ they are: medium speed, low noise, medium temperature, low power consumption

The WD Black are intended for high performance and storages at reasonable cost: fast drives, high noise, high temperature, high power consumption

The WD Blue are basically your standard desktop drives: average in all categories.

The WD Green are for low power and compact systems:
slower drivers, low noise, low heat, low power consumption

The VelociRapter are 10.000RPM drives, they are the fastest with the next step being SSD fastest drives, high noise, high temeprature, average power consumption.
